I could not be more excited. I'll admit, I'm a little worried as it's a tall order, but it's still gonna be an insta-buy for me.

I'm surprised some people have faith in Square doing this since most people have said they haven't made a good FF game in years. Which depends on who you talk to so your mileage may vary.
-
Story is all ready written. No voice actors required. Just give it graphics. Hell, just use the FF10 engine. Done. There is so little they need to do to pull it off.... I'm sure they'll find a way to -blam!- it up.
-
Well we know it's being made from the ground up and the story won't be exactly the same. So it's apparently not just gonna be the same game with better graphics. The combat is a mystery though right now...
-
That's what I'm saying. It doesn't need all that. I don't understand why they waited all this time to remake this game if they're just going to shit on it by "rebuilding it from the ground up."
-
They need cash? Plus I'm sure there are people out there who think Square owes it to them because of the PS3 tech demo. Didn't one of the employees say a few years ago it wouldn't be exactly the same with better graphics?
-
No I agree. What I'm saying is, if they want to make the obvious cash grab, why go the route that has the biggest chance of pissing people off? The fans want literally the same game with modern graphics. When your collective fanbase is trying to buy a cheeseburger and fries, it doesn't mean you should reinvent the cheeseburger.
-
The only reason they gave was because they didn't want to to make the same exact game with better graphics.
-
Honorable but foolish.

I kind of wish Halo CEA and Halo 2 Anniversary weren't just the same games with prettier graphics. I prefer remakes that make the games feel different but also have the basics from the original. Odd World New N' Tasty is another example of an older game remade from the ground up but still being similar to the original.

It's nostalgic faith, I'll admit.
