Simple question. In Deej's interview he talked about moving on from old stuff and "adapting." If you can't upgrade your year one equipment, will you continue on and just grind for all new legendaries and willingly leave everything behind?
I will leave this game if I cannot ascend/upgrade year one items. I play for fun, and if I had to get rid of them that would push the grind over the top. It would also irritate me that all of my progress would be erased.
If your answer to the poll is yes, I'd love to hear explanations why! I personally don't get it and would like to understand :)

It wouldn't be so bad if I knew for sure the new guns would be equivalent to the old guns. I just don't have a lot of faith that they will seeing the legendary guns in TDB seemed lesser in many cases than day 1 weapons. Still it feels like building a Jenga tower for Bungie to knock it down. Give me the option to GET LUCKY and get a better weapon than Fatebringer and then I'm on board.
-
As long as the new weapons surpass or equal the old ones, I won't mind too much. But I don't think any weapon will ever beat Fatebringer.

17 RepliesHow stupid are you? We won't be able to upgrade old stuff. It says that in game in the acension icon. This is the beginning of year 2. There will be new stuff. It'd be boring if we used the same old stuff forever. It's something that's intended. And if it gets rid of people like you, good riddance

Edited by Afawafa: 6/17/2015 3:01:20 PMAs long as the exotics and maybe raid weaps get through. Don't really give much of a shit about old legendaries because really, there's going to be a new one which handles pretty much the same since there's only 3-4 impact/RoF models per class.
-
Raid gear may be the exception. And exotics. I guess I'm some respects this puts Poe gear in an always place, everyone's trying to upgrade all their gear to max level, and for what? In a few short months most of it will be irrelevant.
-
As long as I can keep my exotics viable, I am in. If they fade into obscurity...
-
You do realize that TTK moves into year two right? The next set ascensions is IN year two, jus pointing that put

On the fence on this one...... What is the point of new weapons if everyone will just update their old ones? I know how good Fatebringer & VoC are I have both on my Xb1 account (new to PS4) But I am not sure grinding VoG for Fatebringer would be worth it at this point. If Bungie allows old weapons to be raised to current cap then maybe I would do the grind. At some point in a 10 plan the old will fade away.

If Destiny decides that in, any of the DLC, in the first game that none of your weapons or Armour can be upgraded they basically just slapped you in the face and laughed hard. Aren't people playing this game to have the different weapons and armour, isn't that why people are playing Trials every week and doing the PoE. Otherwise their whole game is pointless.
-
While I'm partial to certain weapons, at some point they'll get stale & I'll dump them. The whole point of them is how effective they are at killing my opponent. If a newer weapon does it better, then so be it.

10 RepliesWhat's the fun in using the same gun over and over for years? Destiny is a 10 year project, who would want to use fatebringer for 10 years? My point is bungie wants players to adapt to changes in the game, keeps it refreshing. I've been having a blast lately trying out new guns in crucible. While I know people love their old weopons, bungie is going to make some new awesome weopons for us to obtain, and for me personally a lot of the fun in this game is about going out and obtaining new and more powerful guns. That is a huge part of loot based games. Just my 2 cents

13 RepliesIf they make the hundreds of hours I spent grinding for my gear completely obsolete, I will NEVER play a Bungievision game again and mail them a bag of dog shit.
-
This is the first game I've ever played that I've kept the same gear for this long. I expected to drop all the original weapons when the first DLC dropped. And I've been using more of the new weapons now. I go back to old ones because I like them but I don't need them.
-
You might be on to something here. Bungie could just add something new to weapons, let's say a level cap and light level. Weapons that require a level of 30 or higher and a light level level system built into the weapon to increase the play time grind. Since we are fighting the taken army, new weapons are needed to take them down effectively. It would not surprise me if they opted for this option. That way it would force the community to adapt to the new weapons and gear and get rid of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generation weapons. This also clears up vault space as intended. Think of this as a trail run before destiny year 3 for the next generation console. Regardless, we are at the end of Destiny year 1. Cheers!
-
Yes, they are old for a reason. But! That doesn't mean I want to get rid of it and not use it when it is sufficient for the content I'm playing.
-
I've been saying that upgrading old gear was a bad idea from the start. We need Bungie to be focused on building better, and equally as effective new gear- not just making old gear still the obvious choice with their lackluster updates and lazy upgrade scheme.
-
4 RepliesAbsolutely not. They are giving us emblems and items to show our distinction as a year 1 player. But if they take away our weapons and armor, where does that uniqueness go? They just started to stray away from the cut and dry "you need this armor to reach the light cap" with being able to ascend old armor. This HoW was the dlc that got old players like me interested again. I don't even care if there is not a raid because it's still fun. But making our vanilla weapons and armor go away is just wrong.
-
It sure would free up my vault!

Edited by I NiGhTmArEs I: 6/17/2015 2:02:02 PMabsolutely clueless the problem isn't the old stuff it just the majority of new guns are inferior and they have no idea how to balance new and old content. the fact that I/we have spent countless hours with this grind infested game collecting/levelling up this gear just so they can potentially take them away and make me/us gring for more in all likely hood inferior albeit new gear is a step too far now that I know this could be the case im going to wait till we have all the details on TTK before I decide to buy it
-
I somewhat hope we can't take our weapons and us. I mean I want to be forced to use the new weapons, but right now fatebringer and vision are probably the 2 best primary weapons, and are what I use almost always. I think it'd be a nice change to have to start again and use all new weapons.
-
Now there's not 5 damage nodes as a time / xp / resource sink, I couldn't care less. If there's good replacement elemental primaries that is! If not I'll be slightly annoyed and amused that VoC, fatebringer etc are still everyone's go-to weapons after a year
-
It depends. If TTK weapons turn out to be as poor as those in HoW, then it could be a bit of a disappointment. Saying that, the fact that HoW weapons are not especially good, means more vault space for TTK and gives plenty of opportunity to experiment with new weapons and make these tough choices on what to take forward when the time comes...
-
2 RepliesI'll go back to left 4 dead. I'm already fading away from destiny.
-
As long as I drop it for better gear, I'll be ok.
-
1 ReplyIt's kinda lame, but do you really want to be using year 1 weapons for 2 or 3 years? I think they are doing this ti make things more of a challenge. Let's be honest, gjallahorn has made all existing DLC a cake walk , most of the time too easy. I think it's great we get to try and use new weapons, fatebringer, BH, Gjallahorn or something damn close is all you see. Bring on the change!
-
Id be happy if you could at least upgrade the exotics.
