Will you play TTK if you cannot upgrade old weapons and armor?
Simple question. In Deej's interview he talked about moving on from old stuff and "adapting." If you can't upgrade your year one equipment, will you continue on and just grind for all new legendaries and willingly leave everything behind?
I will leave this game if I cannot ascend/upgrade year one items. I play for fun, and if I had to get rid of them that would push the grind over the top. It would also irritate me that all of my progress would be erased.
If your answer to the poll is yes, I'd love to hear explanations why! I personally don't get it and would like to understand :)

Im pretty sure deej was talking about vault space not gonna increment so ayers have to adapt and make tough decisions (same words) for wich weapon will they want to keep, im lretty sure ascending weapons will stay the same, making you able to upgrade your gear but probably new weapons/armor will now have higher stats than ascended gear, that way you keep your ol legendaries but gives you a reason to grind for the new stuff.

3 RepliesThese are the weapons I would miss dearly, if they'd become obsolete: Hawkmoon, Thorn, Pocket Infinity, Thunderlord. Armors... hmmm, I honestly don't know if I'd miss any.

I bet they bring exotics forward and leave legendaries behind. Time for 2/3 of your collection to be new weapons and gear.

Yeah because there's plenty of new weapons. And idk if you've read ascend but it says max power for year one do I don't think it will be an option sorry.

3 RepliesThe reason the ascension system is mandatory is because this isn't an MMORPG... In a standard MMO, your combat is derived from your class and augmented by the numbers provided by gear. Sure some swords might swing faster or slower, but autoattack is like 2% of your DPS and combat. This is a shooter with live, twitch firearms... Every single one of which runs a little differently than the next. When a player finds a "favorite" gun, it isn't just his favorite [i]looking[/i] weapon, it is his favorite [i]running[/i] weapon. I have run a custom tuned 1911 in competition for almost 12 years now... Are there better modded guns out now? Yes Are there a lot of newer guns I have like and have added to my collections and ran? Yes But the bottom line is I cannot run any gun as fast or as hard as that 1911. It has been tuned to my preferences and trained with until it is an extension of my hands, so that's the gun that I drive in matches that count... Just like Fatebringer drivers in Destiny (Or in my case Timepiece and Grim Citizen) You cant treat Destiny like an MMO because it simply isn't one.

No. At that point, I'll have Fallout 4, Black Ops 3, and many other much better gasmes to play and Destiny's grind won't be worth it.

Yes. I'm all about the ToO gear (my Hunter's an Egyptian Pharaoh-ess and will stay that way LOL), and like the Iron Banner, it's gonna have new armor and (arguably) new weapon sets for future expansions. If I can't update my current ToO gear, I'll opt in for the new stuff.

2 RepliesIt's necessary. You can't hold onto Year 1 weapons forever. Ascension as it is, is very troublesome because it causes too much stagnation in the game's economy. People don't want to do new events just for weapons anymore because why would they? They have this insanely powerful vanilla weapon that can now be upgraded to max so why should they try anything else? This is why older weapons should be phased out. This game is a looting game and if you have this old, very powerful gear then you can scantly get excited about getting new loot. No one likes the idea of letting go of old gear, but it's necessary for the preservation of this game's economy.

i feel this is where vanilla weapons drop off then after that tdb and so on that allows player to get alot of use out of the og weapons but still forces them to change they're load-outs at some point my question is will vanilla exotics ever cap out and become outdated? i honestly wouldn't mind so much. As long as they learned from how they handled these weapons and improve on there implementation.

I can already picture the entitled whining on this forum when Bungie announces that only exotics can be upgraded. The same, tired and retarded argument about how Bungie is spitting on early adopters / vets. Then they'll throw in some garbage about Disc Locked Content and blah blah blah blah...

1 ReplyIt will really piss me off. I mean I use the weapons I do because I like them and have fun with them. So what if I want to use the VoC for 10 years, how is this a problem? Seems like an artificial way to make you want the new weapons and gear, not because they are innately better but because you have no choice if you want to continue with the content.

Exotics will be upgradable can u imagine an Xbox player finally getting a hawkmoon to find it's obsolete the same day. Legendaries will probably go but u can still use them for the current content

Edited by SEV THE DEV: 6/17/2015 5:36:35 PMthey didn't make a whole new arsenal of exotics so the old ones will have some kind of upgrade to the new cap option. legendary stuff on the other hand may get left behind (for now) until you delete it and then they make another ascending system power levels are irrelevant in crucible, so you can still use your favorite legendary weapons there also we get the Hammer, the Bow, and THE ARC SIDE. guns are irrelevant

I'd like to think that since the same exotics will be sought after right up to the expansions release, those exotics will be still be relevant. I imagine it will be a continued system of acquire item x, to apply to your exotic pieces, for end result y.

I am almost positive that Exotics will be upgradable. I doubt that legendarys will be upgradable until the end of year 2.

In planet destinys recent video I saw a HandCannon with Army of One and Firefly, they have a bunch of screenshots , Id reccomend watching it.
