50% of weapons used by winners in Trials was thorn. Bungie was quick to act when suros was the most used, what's with the holdup, Deej?
Heres the list to check for yourself. No land beyond was higher than Suros and someone won with Khovostov. Credit to SpiffyJr on Reddit, i found the image originally on Twitter.

Edit: this isn't a thorn cri post, i have one and use it here and there. This is a post attempting to bring light to the fact that the guns are horribly unbalanced in Destiny pvp. Im a sniper, please keep using shotties doesnt matter to me. However, fusions are terrible, shotties run crucible along with handcannons and everyone just wants to say "stop with the nerfs!!"

Aceebro:
>30% of players use the Suros Regime during a game mode where there's a bounty to get headshots with auto rifles
>nerfed into the ground
>50% of players use Thorn in a game mode where the whole point is to use you best gear
>nothing
The hypocrisy is delicious.
So basically 20% of people trying to do a bounty is unacceptable, but 50% of people using a gun is perfectly fine. LOL

It's not thorn that's the problem... It's thorn coupled with TRIGGER STOP. Until that is addressed trigger stops will be used on the next weapon down the order which has the best ttk, ad infinitum.
-
Fun fact: SUROS Regime in its prime had below 20% usage in IB.
-
I have a new Hand Cannon to try, I wonder how it will compare to Thorn?

30 RepliesEdited by Zebros: 6/15/2015 5:02:06 PMThe reason why thorn is at 50% is because it's the most overpowered weapon in the game. Not only can it two shot people, but it can have the best stability of all exotic hand cannons and pretty close to the best range. It's fire rate is higher than hawkmoon, and it's 9 round mag is more than adequate to take down three people. It has final round, which can be easily glitched to appear on the first round and the last. And we're not even to the DOT yet. The DOT takes away health with periodic ticks. These ticks allow you to track enemies through walls if you fail to kill them. This poison then continues to keep their health down, which keeps that player out of the fight. So the DOT has done three things for you: it kept your enemy's shield down longer than any other weapon, it allowed you to track that enemy to where they fell back too, and it removed that player from the fight for a few seconds longer than any other gun WITHOUT killing them. It's ridiculous that Bungie hasn't addressed this weapon yet. It's literally taking over PvP.

Edited by Afawafa: 6/17/2015 8:53:18 AMI'd like to point out that SUROS, the most used AR, is used less than NLB. Oh how the mighty have fallen.
-
Those stats are from one guy who played 500 games right? It isn't a global figure? I might be wrong though
-
If they nerf the range a bit, make it a 3 head/4 bodyshot kill at range and maybe lower the firerate a tiny bit it would be pretty balanced I think. Right now the range especially is crazy, basically it has no dropoff with send it. I don't want bungie to overnerf it and make it unusable though. But it is a bit too strong right now, if the enemy team is using thorns and are good with it there really isn't much you can do except use thorn back.
-
There is no author or source material so I am saying this is fake
-
I love the Thorn and use it all the time but let's not kid ourselves, the gun is ridiculous and probably needs balancing. Nothing major, just decrease the DoT and range. Easy peasy.
-
6 RepliesAll weapons need nerf. Why? Cause after Thorn, guess what, the next FotM will need a nerf. People will find the next best thing and use it. Little scrubs like u will never stop crying.

6 RepliesEdited by Mime Time!!: 6/17/2015 7:52:45 AMAm I one of the few that didn't use the guns listed on the first page???!!! XD Talk about Unoriginal Trendy Scrubs that resort to lame ass weapons. Wish you get stamped an icon for winning with such weapons to identify who's a scrub crutch user and who isn't. :) Scratch that. Weapon 50 and below were my weapons of choice. Flawless like 22+ damn times. When I play competitive games j stomp these wannabes. xD

Edited by Viyson: 6/17/2015 7:37:08 AMStupid gun, wouldn't bother me if people didn't rely on it in the trails.. But probably every team I go up against, 2 people in the team have thorn I have it as well, but change it up cause it's more fun with the other weapons and more of a challenge
-
~45% of losers also used thorn. It does actually require you to land hits.
-
So everyone can run messengers and insta-kill by team firing, stealing my strategy? No thank you.
-
Just switch pvp only stats/perks. Like they did with shotguns.
-
Hey man. Three weeks in, I was sick of it. I started using thorn so I could win again. It has consumed me. Nerf it... before... it gets others... hurry..
-
I thought red death would be placed a little bit higher
-
Tlw shits on all hand cannons
-
1 ReplyThats a disgusting statistic for a game that's supposed to be diverse
-
Jesus christ it's worse than i thought
-
Used by half the winners you mean
-
11 RepliesThorn is boring to use in standard PvP. It's too easy to kill people, and what's the point in playing if there is no challenge. I tend to use legendary primaries and exotic specials and machine guns. I never use rockets in crucible, that makes it too easy as well, and if you think about it you're way more likely to get a larger amount of kills with a machine gun than with a rocket launcher, depending on how accurate you are.
-
3 RepliesI feel that thorns rate of fire should be lowered and that the DOT should proc the same way luck in the chamber does
-
1 ReplyBungie logic: "Did you see that list?" "I did! We must now take the only logical step." (Weekly update) - Auto rifles have had their damage decreased by an average of 10% to bring them more in line with the rest of the weapons.
