Etheric light --- how should we be able to obtain more?
I think etheric light still seems more rare than it should be. Exotic shards way easier to obtain.
Yes, 3 from 34 PoE and 3 from 35, but I would contend that most people aren't grinding skolas 3x per week.
I feel like we should get 1 from ranking a faction/vanguard/crucible -- first of the week, 3 per week in total.
Any other reasonable ideas we should/could obtain etheric light that isn't giving us, way more than we are currently getting?

Most responses have been negative in nature. What an awful awful community these forums are. So many people flexing those enormous internet muscles. Ridiculous.
How about this: if you don't have anything constructive to add, just move along.

2 RepliesThere's no way to get etheric light as a solo player, and no matchmaking or native LFG in the game modes that I HAVE to play to level up. Tell me how that makes sense. It's great that some people have huge friend lists and have no problem going online to find people to play with, but I don't have that kind of time nor am I online all night long. Etheric light should be available to all player types, and content should be available to those that paid for it. I'm getting shorted on both.

1 ReplySome form of weekly bounties. I know bungie had them in halo reach..weekly stuff. Let's say kill 500 captains for an etheric light. Or kill 2000 vex. Something Grindy, that could take a few days.

Yeah I play mainly solo, and have only tried ToO a few times. Never won enough games to get an etheric. I do a couple 34's and a 35 every week so far, but I feel like getting etheric is super slow. None from the Nightfall either. My friends that do play ToO and do well all seem to have a bunch sitting in the vault.

Should be obtainable through the the 32 prison of elders. Since you get one a week, you should be able to get some through 32 prisons.

If you play ToO and poe you can get 12 in one week I think I have about 12 extra etheric lights sitting in my inventory

I'm fine with it now. It makes you choose what to ascend first instead of just doing it to everything. An idea though... Could Xur sell them for like 23 strange coins? I waste mine each week to buy molts for engrams or the occasional exotic I don't have. It would give me a reason to get more coins. It could even be more strange coins like 30-40.

I completely disagree with you. Etheric Light can already be guaranteed 4 times per character per week, even if you only do one activity (easiest would be 34 PoE unless you're good at pvp) per week per character, that's 3 guaranteed per week. And a chance from the nightfalls. Plus you could buy two per character when Iron Banner was out. In my opinion it's too easy to get a stockpile of Etheric light. I haven't even gone flawless in trials yet, haven't even made it to 6 wins on every character each week, haven't run more than 2 of the 34 in a week, and have only run the 35 twice total, and I still have plenty.

Xur. Stop all the ridiculous grinding and let people have some fun tweaking. You would see a massive increase in guardian activity. I know my play time would go through the roof.

Xur could rotate between selling exotic shards and etheric light. Etheric Light could drop when you dismantle legendary weapons.

Seriously man, its really not that hard to get. I'm sure in a few weeks from now we will be seeing players complaining that they have too many and nothing to do with them...just like shards.

I don't have enough time to play every way to get EL, much less 3x per week. I like the Faction Idea, but it should be for every 7 single faction levels, or combined 5 levels of all three factions. I don't mind Xur selling it, but more like 1 EL for 3 Exotic Shards. It isn't about being good. I may not be the best player, but I just don't have the time to play that much, nor do I WANT to play that much. But my enjoyment of the game doesn't affect anyone else so why not have additional sources of EL.

I don't have any DLC. I got to rank 5 on all 3 characters in iron banner and got the 6. If the nightfall isn't locked, I have a chance to win 1-3, No nightfall luck yet. I have 18 iron banner weapons to upgrade and the entire VOG collection. So I wouldn't mind seeing another way to get some. Potential drop from VOG? Agree with faction rank up. Or buy from Xur? (But that's difficult because exotic shards are only 7 strange coins, so because etheric is only legendary it would probably be 5? Too cheap. Maybe just 7 same as exotic shards) Seriously 6 FULL SETS of iron banner armour, 18 IB weapons, VOG collection. Help me out a bit bungie. 1 if I'm lucky from nightfall only? Wtf. I have a feeling they're letting DLC peeps go first and next update they'll be a new material and etheric will be more common than spinmetal.
