Edit - Read the news.
Edit 2 - I think I need to clarify a couple of things.
I agree with some of you, Skolas needed changing a little.
A simple method of resuming the fight would have fixed it.
Checkpoints, maybe a card system similar to the trials that marks checkpoints when you complete one, then you can only enter at that point till you complete the next one.
Burning him down in 30 seconds doesn't always work whether it be wrong group wrong weapons or wrong teleports.
You're forced to then work the mechanics which is more fun anyway. Hard yes but not impossible.
What I hate is that people cry Hard content is Hard and Bungie rushes to change it. Valus? Autorifles?
Bungies sole focus should be in bugs and new content. Not pander to the babies who say I can't do this, I'm getting killed by that.
Edit 3 - There seems to be a large part of this community that are saying "I paid the same as you I deserve to be able to beat it" both about 35 PoE and the Trails of Osiris.
No you don't. Yes you should have ACCESS to the content you paid for. Actually being able to do it is another thing.
Not all men are created equal.
I for example have an inate ability to comprehend programming languages. But can I hell play the drums or learn a foreign language, as much as I've tried.
Same goes for this game. Put me in PvE content I'll be great. PvP something between brain and hands doesn't work maybe it's the pressure of having a real person in the other end.
It's no shame that you can't complete something some people can't.
Just don't EXPECT you have the right and moan and complain that they Nerf it.
Edit - 5
Ran Skolas last night, I have to take my hat off to Bunglevision the changes work. It's a more balanced and fair fight.
It's definitely easier than attempting legit was with the burns.
I can heartily recommend anyone who was dubious about running it due to difficultly to gives it a try. All you need is communication.
This is my final edit. Happy hunting Guardians.

2 RepliesThe news basically said that people were either melting him with the perfect burn weapon or not completing him at all. Two extremes being the only option is not how they intended this end game content to be. This is why it's being changed. They thought up and implemented certain mechanics with a plan in mind. People used the burns to win in 30 seconds pissing them off because it's no different than pushing atheon off the ledge. Then all the other people who couldn't melt him failed for hours at a time and end up giving up. The stats for this group had to be extremely high. Both of these points together make it a no brainier that it has to change
-
The same people who cried for a nerf will still cry because Skolas is still going to be hard to beat possibly harder since there won't be a burn. Yes he will have lower health but with lower health is going to come lower weapon damage since the burns won't be there for damage bonuses.
-
Since when did skolas Need a nerf?
-
5 RepliesI like that the mechanics will actually be performed now. Too many people just melting him with Wolfpack rounds
-
Edited by tntbabin: 6/12/2015 2:04:39 PMI've completed all burns by burning him in 40 seconds and all but arc by playing through all the mechanics. That said, arc burn just wasn't fun, it was a pain in the ass. The others were ok, but seemed to favor burning him down too much. I for one am very glad that the burns are getting replaced with new modifiers.

Edited by hardazzdiamond: 6/12/2015 1:47:26 PMBungie is pandering to Bungie so you are correct in a way they pander to whinners. This is about quick kills. They say its taking longer to complete than intended so they take our one advantage "burns" away and instead we will get no burn and lightswitch plus weight of darkness and this helps us how exactly?
-
1 ReplySounds like you're a hater

I think the problem was the average playtime for this fight was way to long. If people are spending several hours on this fight every week they're gonna lose interest. Some weeks I find teams where we beat it somewhat quickly and other teams it's taken a few hours. I personally was ready to skip doing the Skolas fight from now on because the rewards are minimal compared to how long it takes to beat on average. With the nerf, I'm more likely to participate every week and believe it will still be challenging.

Does this community not understand that Bungie makes these decisions off user data not forum complaints? They crunch numbers (completion rates, time to complete, etc etc...) to determine if the game is functioning as they intended. If they made decisions (nerfs) based off community complaints we'd be having pillow fights in the crucible because every single weapon would be nerfed to nothing
-
Bungie don't pay any attention to this forum. The Devs made changes as people weren't playing it how they intended. That's everyone's fault, not the whiners.

The only time it was ever really hard was with arc burn.

2 Repliespeople saying Skolas is harder without burns.. lmfaooo people saying this will cater to none GHorn owners.. lmfaoooo

7 RepliesEdited by DynamiteYogurt: 6/12/2015 12:49:05 PMBungie realized that Ghorn was causing certain LFGers to be left out. They fixed it, and I agree. Beating bosses shouldn't be solely based on using Gjallarhorn. Nevermind. The elitists will never be stopped.
-
1 ReplyThe card system sounds like a very good idea. No free savepoints to give away.
-
1 ReplyBout to ghally him every week now. Thx, crybabies!
-
we'll just have to see what modifiers they plan on using now, i can just guess itll be "angry", will be fun with skolas being unable to flinch, these kids that whine and whine, 2 days ago i beat skolas in 40 seconds without wiping once, but during the arc week i spend 3 hours killing him, but that was because we didnt have a titan, beat him in the end tho
-
1 ReplyThey only lowered his health because he won't have any burns anymore so it doesn't really feel like a nerf.
-
2 RepliesI've said this on several threads but here goes. Skolas is too easy! The easiest strategy isn't to use Gjallarhorn, the easiest strategy is for your entire fireteam to snipe him down. Black Hammer, LDR, Spear, etc. You were able to stun him with little effort. I'm so tired of hearing people say "I can't be Skolas without Ghorn." No bitch, you can't beat Skolad because you -blam!-ing suck and lack basic aiming skills. You still managed to win though. Skolas is now set to be nerfed and I hope you scrubs enjoy. All you need now is to have Trials nerfed because your scrub fireteam can't go 7-0.
-
Finally finished PoE lv35 yesterday.. No rush to complete it but did get to the end, without complaining.. Not that easy and without nuking him it felt more easy. Just dont understand PvE is getting nerf again, while many complain about ToO..
just a game
-
It wasn't his difficulty that made me one and done him, it's there's no reason to beat him again.
-
12 RepliesThey probably changed the fight because of the obsessive gjallarhorn use. He's not designed to be fight where you can skip the debuff. He's not designed to be a fight where you kill him before the mines start. I would blame this more on the people that were burning him down, moreso than the people complaining about his difficult.
-
They didn't want the encounter to be high impact snipers w/ that weeks burn or gjally with at least one Titan in every group to be the only way to beat it. Sure he has less health, but that's just to counter that there is no burn any longer. It may actually turn out to be more challenging without burn. If he can't be dropped as fast as now than everyone will have to play the objectives while killing him and passing around the taint which is more like what it should have been to begin with. I'm excited to see what happens. I sure hope they don't throw in grounded though haha
Bungies sole focus should be in bugs and new content. Not pander to the babies who say I can't do this, I'm getting killed by this.
Damn right! Just sort thorn out first :-)

2 RepliesEdited by MonkersUK: 6/12/2015 9:11:31 AMTheir data will show a hell of a lot of people going at this for five hours plus and failing. It was either this or adding checkpoints, which I would have preferred. Saying that I haven't even bothered with it once, the time invested isn't worth the rewards.
-
So, because Bungie is paying attention, and trying to make a better... You know what? You're not worth it. Mute.
