Has everyone forgot how to do VOG

I have been having no luck lately with running vog on hard seems like no one understands what to do anymore. Anyone else having similar issues. EDIT: over 1000 responses lots of good ones and people who seem to be committed to helping sherpa others through this raid.

  • I think people. Ran into a group who were asking for 3 34's for hard.

  • Raids are fun in themselves. I've played with pros and noobs alike but I'm always happy to teach new people and just enjoy meeting new people and teamwork. * I should mention I only play with peeps who have a mic*

    • I have every vanilla exotic and every piece of VOG gear, but I still run it every week because of how fun it is. Crota on the other hand, I only run because RNGeezus has yet to bless me with the 4th horseman

    • It's all the Christmas noobs who have no idea how to run it or care about learning to run it. The worst thing is seeing an lfg ad that say must be 33+. People who post like that obviously have little to no experience with the vault. I wish bungie would make it so running VoG and crotas end was necessary to reach the max level. A fireteam of all 34's should have no trouble, and then I hear the "What's the flashing yellow thing" line, and I lose all faith in the community. Bungie really should make completing vault extremely relevant again. People only play to hit max level, not to enjoy all the content.

      • They didn't forget, they've never done it before. All these players skipped the vault and got their gear from Crota. Now u can be 34 without ever doing a raid. And since we can ascend old gear and weapons now these clowns are just starting to run the vault for the first time to get a fate bringer or Vision.

      • I was a little rusty after HoW launched but I was able to pick it back up very quickly. However, I never forgot how to do VoG. Keep in mind there are a lot of new players in Destiny. I've personally met several people that thought CE was the first raid and VoG was part of the DLC.

        • We had an awesome group running it last week. Most of us played VOG together when it was the only raid so we already had our jobs down. We had 1 wipe due to a glitch with times vengeance and did the whole thing in right about 40ish minutes. When I say 1 wipe, I mean we actually stayed down for oracles and Templar, none of that cheesy shit about wiping and just going up to snipe all of the oracles. We did just gjallarhorn atheon which was actually the first time any of us had done it and that was histarically easy and fun. It's super easy now but overall it's a lot of fun with the right people.

        • Problem is that alot of ppl havent done it yet. And because they are high level now, they think it is really easy and a walk in the park. Or they only did normal and didnt realise that HM is a bit different. But biggest reason is that ppl are too afraid to admit that they havent done it before and only seen a couple of vids from it on Youtube. They are afraid because alot of "good players" will kick them from the fireteam. I have had alot of ppl that after long insisting on it, they finally admitted it. For me and my friends, it isnt a problem. We will explain it to them and help them learn. Once they mastered normal, we even take them through HM and then set them lose in the world. And if half off the "good players" would stop being a-holes and also do this, Destiny would become a much better place. The skill gab between decent raiders and "kinder" guardians is really big. But by teaching them, the gab will become smaller and it doesnt matter anymore who you are teamed up with from matchmade missions.

          • The problem is that you can quite easily be 34 without ever having run a Raid. It's hard to tell if a random has done it until you get in there. Rather than LFG posters asking for level requirements, they should ask for experience. Not everyone has to be a VoG veteran, but you can only have so many unsure players without getting frustrated. Inspect the players and see if they are using Raid armor and/or Oracle disruptor weapons.

              • Surprisingly it isn't as easy as I thought well remembered I mean I had to upgrade my VoG weapons just "ease" my way through Funny thing is, I had a harder time facing Atheon... Most of my deaths were from him I still don't know why I died I think 8 times? 6 were at Atheon I believe... Everything else I did alright in...

              • Hmmm, let's see: Runs right through green pools Fanatics leave behind, thinking they are some kind of health regen. What's this shiny shield-looking thing? *picks it up, Templar appears* SONOFABITCH!! What the -blam!- is that?! Put it back, put it back! What's the deal with the white Harpies, man? I shot him with everything I have, and they don't die! Must be a glitch. What the -blam!-! The platform I jumped on -blam!-ing disappeared! Insert 'INTERMISSION' here (like 2001: A Space Odyssey). Nope, everyone definitely remembers how to run VoG. #satire, #sarcasm

I've ran it a few times for the fist time in months and months and they know what to do to get it right. Yet everyone wants to try some new yolo strat feeling they're invincible as 33's or 34's not realizing that that hardly matters. Plus it's hard to find mature or adult groups for it now. It's usually kids arguing and blaming or leaving if it's not a perfect run. Plus it's worse than ever with "hey I'll be right back" so they can do whatever making the process significantly longer :/

I got KiCked from Vog for not having the gjalahhorn and guess what I was not carried and have fully upgraded icebreaker that was perfect for sniping Templar from above . 5 gjalahhorns in the team and was kicked. Most Newer players are corrupted with this weapon.

                • It's more likely that the more experienced players don't even touch the old raids anymore. We've got everything we want from them. Another issue may be that PvE has become so dull and repetitive that many players may have shifted to PvP. Both those cases describe why I don't play the raids anymore, only PvE I do is nightfall. I might do PoE for chance at exotic but PvE got screwed this time around, not really anything new unfortunately

                • I was helping my cousin through normal vault and a guy joined with a lvl 34 character. He hadn't played the vault ever and was a huge noob. I thought "he must have run Crota a lot then" so I asked. He said he had run it once. I couldn't get a straight answer as to how he jumped the gap from scrub to scrub in 34 level gear.
