If you like leading your shot, then projectiles are for you. Or, if you want your bullet to hit your target instantly without having to lead your shot, then it's most likely you would prefer hit scan. I'm asking because I think it would change the way people play if they had to lead their shot.
This is about general bullets FYI :)
Not about fusion rifle bolts or rocket shells.
Edit: So my guess is that most people who chose hit scan are PVP players, considering that if you had to lead your shot it would greatly impact sniping.
Edit 2: Halo players seem to be liking hit scan more than projectiles.
Edit 3: Some people like the satisfaction they get from killing someone by leading their shot.
Edit 4: Does server performance influence your decision?

1 ReplyHit scan- I come from halo, it feels more competitive. An element that Destiny pvp could use more of.

In the actual game world I don't buy the whole projectiles thing for destiny. These futuristic weapons shoot at too high of a velocity for it to even matter. If you think about a weapon like the ice breaker, that bullet or whatever it shoots must be traveling at about 5000 feet per second. Then again, the musket in this game has the highest range so what do I know.
-
I can't hit anything as it is. I'm not sure I'd even be able to play if I had to lead my shots
-
I've learned from my Battlefield days that hitscan is better for some poor chap like me who lives out in the middle of nowhere and has a really bad connection.
-
Hitscan. Mainly cause I'm a scrub and would rather my shot just land where I aim it to be. Now for sniping, I think projectile system might be good. But...I hated the Halo 3 BR, and the Halo CE Magnum isn't always easy to use either. I enjoy the precision of the Reach-5 weaponry. Actually feels like you're hitting them.
-
Projectiles all the way! Bungee used that even in the first Marathon-game they made to my knowledge (was modding it quite a bit and you could set the speed of bullets from the guns etc)
-
Hitscan is lazy game design.

1 Replybattlefield 3 har projectiles, hell of a good game

2 RepliesAs a Battlefield fan, I have to say I much prefer weapons having ballistics over hitscan. It adds an extra level of skill to the game and prevents Sniper Rifles from being used like shotguns the way you see in CoD and even to an extent in this game. And though I'd love to see it added along with movement penalties to accuracy, Bungie's not going to do it - Destiny is the natural evolution of Halo, so it's going to stay close to that formula while improving upon it and I'm OK with that. I just wish the netcode wasn't so god awful in this game, it's like night and day between Halo Reach and Destiny wtf...

Bf2 had bullet drop onnthe snipers. Build a game to make projectiles work and they will work well. destiny pvp is so close quarters most of the time you wouldnt have to bother leading the target so youd almost never notice. It would however give players more reason to cry about lag issues (which ive never seen to be that big of an issue myself)
-
Yeah server connection and game mechanics have to be solid for projectiles, so hit scan is the safer bet for online games.
-
I don't mind either
-
Hit scan for life. If everyone had perfect connections, maybe projectiles would work, but I didn't enjoy Halo 3 as much because it had projectiles.
-
I'm a projectile kinda girl.
-
I assume projectiles would cause even more lag so meh.
-
I want my shots to be hit scan and everyone else to have projectiles.
-
Projectiles are laggy and cause even more kill trading... I will stick with hit scan... I have dealt with way to much crap in battlefield.
-
If I want projectiles I'll go to battlefield,
-
its a video game, so hot scan, pve ftw
-
Personally, I prefer projectiles over hit scan. In Destiny, most of the Crucible maps are small and wouldn't require you to lead your target (if Destiny used projectile physics). In this situation, hit scan would make more sense due to it having a fast calculation rate and less strain on the servers. However, over farther distances, I enjoy having projectile physics. It takes more skill to lead your target and adjust for distance when performing medium or long distance shots, than just lining up the crosshairs and seeing the target drop the exact instant you pull the trigger.

1 ReplyProjectiles, it takes skill and spray and players will be less of a nuisance especially Handcannons.
