Every thread, every rant, every comeback, starts or involves the word kid.
Why? Is it an American thing?
EDIT: Just saw a perfect example.
Poster 1: And no one cares.
Poster 2 replies: I bet the person who asked the question cares. don't be jealous that some people get laid kid.
EDIT 2: What if birds aren't singing. They are screaming because they are afraid of heights?

Seems like it is their sign: "Hate u. Sincerely Kid"

2 RepliesI could use the word "dilettante" but I'd be driving web traffic to dictionary.com without getting a cut.
-
It is a short-cut used by those who can't actually concoct an adequate response. Rather pitiful really. If someone uses that term in an argument, they have instantly lost.
-
Because it sounds silly if I scream "Young Adults" at them while I'm spraying them with the garden hose to get off my lawn.
-
Because they act like immature. uneducated, foul/loud mouthed brats? Kids.
-
It's a way for people to try discredit your opinion without having to actually making a sound argument. They're basically trying undermine you while trying to give themselves a sense of maturity and experience. Really sad how instead of making any actual argument people now a days result to insults to try and get their point across.

1 ReplyI don't call you sun cause you shine, I call you son cause you're mine. :/

5 RepliesKid, popularized around Halo times. BK = Bad Kid BKRandy = Bad Kid, Random Kid is basically a demoralizing trigger word/term for the person that's camping, being a n00b, or not understanding the point of the game; assumption that "kids" don't understand rated T or M games.

1 ReplyEdited by WiredVex: 5/3/2015 7:30:57 AMId like to think its more like this, so let me give an example first. My dad calls me a kid. Why you may ask its cause im way younger than him and even though im an adult im still gonna be a kid to him. This has also gone on for years with many adults doing the same thing, calling those that are younger than them kids. This then moves to games. Games are seen as a general kids toy. And finally with both of these we move on to the internet where no one knows each others ages and the gaming is for kids and adults using kid it all comes together as everyone is a kid no matter what age they are cause your age is a mystery and in a place like this its a gaming fourm so it must be for kids. Kid is also a relative word used for things like this its simple to say kid and assume its a kid your talking to.

I'm pretty sure it's a American way to judge maturity from insults just like how the UK has their own insult words
-
I'd say it's to emphasise someone's immaturity
-
Because everyone in that forum must be a pedophile

1 ReplyYes, Kid is a term used in America. It doesn't make sense to you, much like they way practice and bastardized in England.
-
1 ReplyI prefer to use the word "child"

This kid......... Lol

also used to imply a person is naive, a neophyte etc. Basically dating yourself to also rather young most often if you are using it. In my fraternity in college we would refer to freshmen pledge prospects this way but not as intended insult like yeah, he is a good kid. It was even funny then we knew we referring sometimes to dudes that were only one or two years younger than us. We had a mentality though that we were more grown up than them and in aspects we were- college life and that part of growing up we had already been further along.
-
In some places, it isn't derogatory. I grew up in Boston. We call everyone kid. Especially friends. "What's up kid?" "Nothin. I'mma go bang out this townie slut. I'll catch ya."
-
If you act like a kid, then you're a kid. It doesn't matter if you're 50.
-
It is used to denote how an individual is acting like a ne first generational child or immature entitlement minded child about the game not being how that person wanted so they were crying it is not fair and trying to demand the developers cater it to how that person wants it.
