Mines are already color coded.
White is alright. Red is dead.
Bubbles are a different story but a good indicator is if there is a group of enemy players standing inside.

There are also electric mines which are not colour coded.

Shoot it. If it doesn't destroy it then it's fine.

Thanks for the tip, I have never tried that with the electric ones.

Most people don't think of it because it spouts electric instead of blowing up. Seems like Bungie would've made a PvP vs PvE FAQ.
