I actually havent really heard any commentary about Death Magnetic... But personally, I think its a totally decent album. They sound like they are aging, which they are haha, but its recognizably metallica and thats decent.

Compared to , reload, and St anger, it's a masterpiece.

Eh...it's their best album in years, but I don't know. I don't find myself listening to it to often, and I don't listen to the songs in their entirety; there's certain portions of a song I might like, but I end up skipping the rest. And I'm not a fan of how autotuned up the ass Hetfield's voice is.

Yeah, I can understand that. It's also WAY too loud at some parts, but I still love it.

Ah yes, the loudness...ugh. Rick Rubin is not a bad producer, but I don't know what the hell he was on when he worked on Death Magnetic. -blam!- the loudness war. It's a decent album, but it's not my favorite. It's cool Metallica is trying to be Metallica again, but I feel like their best days have gone by. They're not young, ambitious (and drunk) kids taking on the system anymore; they [i]are[/i] the system.

Yeah, I think you are right about that. The way I look at Death Magnetic though, is that its far far far far far better than the vast majority of crap the music industry is putting out these days and thats cool; plus its recognizably metallica and I like that. I also give em credit for being the only rehashed aging band to put out a decent album, so old and over the hill: yup, but they did a decent job.
