A very popular idea is that Destiny could've had a more deeper, philosophy-heavy story or more complex game mechanics if it wasn't clearly catered to accommodate casual gamers as well as the hardcore gamers in order to reach a wider audience.
Hence why intentionally difficult games like Dark Souls, Demon Souls, and Bloodborne are so celebrated.

So basically because its easy to pick up and play , people hate casuals
