How the hell do you use a warlock in pvp?

As someone who has used both hunters and titans in pvp, how do you use a warlock because to me right now, they suck. Advice welcome. Edit: Thank you for the costructive comments for those that actually gave advice. I'll try to apply it. Edit: Definitely having better results after switching up some of my abilities as recommended. Starting to now understand the danger a warlock brings to a match, especially after lobbing a nova bomb super from practically one control point to another.

    1. Use Voidwalker 2. Don't use Axion Bolt 3. If you choose to disobey Rule 1, don't equip Fireborn 4. As a Voidwalker, equip Soul Rip to melee 5. Do the Wombo Combo (Using the hair trigger of a shotgun to shoot then chain a melee very quickly) 6. Focus on Strength and Intellect. 7. Focus more on Armor and Recovery than Agility. The Voidwalker is stronger, but more frail than Sunsinger 8. Since the Wombo Combo ends with a melee, use Energy Drain for the Soul Rip effect. 9. More Strength = More Energy Drain = More Soul Rip = More Nova Bomb = More Death. NOVA BOMB FOR DAYS 10. Forgot to mention, equip Vortex for Nova Bomb. 11. If you're feeling lucky, equip Lance on Nova Bomb, shoot skyward, and see how that works out. 12. Use Blink, a Voidwalker's Glide is not as good as a Sunsinger's and will make you an open target 13. If you want advice on Sunsinger, ask. P.S. Sorry I keep editing this ._.

    • Voidwalker: grenade of choice, blink, vortex, soul rip. Focus on intellect/strength, but use armors that give extra super/grenade from damage/kills. For extra support use void mastery; extra attack embrace the void. I prefer high recovery followed by a medium armor/agility (armor slightly higher). Exotic Armor: obsidian mind. Loadout: Bad Juju, praedyth's revenge/whatever shotgun, the swarm/against all odds. Style: play aggressively, but use it to lure opponents towards teammates or into corners. You're a tricksy warlock with loads of space magic; use it! Don't rely on the nova bomb as it can be a double edged sword; however, always seek an opportunity to unleash havoc with it. Don't hold on to it for too long, you'll have another chance; make some orbs! Sunsinger: firebolt, burst, radiant skin, flame shield. Focus on discipline/intellect, use armors that give you bonuses for grenade kills (there's going to be sooooo many). Support characters need to use solar grenades, increased radiance, and gift of the sun; attack use firebolt and then the ignite/Viking funeral combo. I prefer ungodly recovery with a moderate agility and low armor. Exotic armor: heart of praxic Fire (for Nade lobbing insanity) or claws of ahamkara (this is for starting out, those extra shields help a lot while you're getting a handle on it). Loadout: Monte Carlo/bad juju (depends on whether you need more shield or super), praedyth's revenge/solid fusion rifle, the swarm/against all odds. Style: your grenades are your lifeblood. Set your enemies ablaze or have them run in terror from your wrath! Not only does igniting keep enemies from regaining health, the life ticking away allows you to more easily find your target. Don't be afraid to run in to a group, your shield and super will protect you. Also, with a solid discipline, you should be able to rain 7-10 grenades with each super; this coupled with other kills will drop tons of orbs! I hope this is useful, I'm a warlock main and have loved it since I chose him during the alpha! Psn: BearerOfIon2814

      • I personally use sunsinger. What you need to do is use gift of the sun to get two grenades and then wear voidfang vestiments to ensure every time you respawn you have 2 grenades. I prefer fusion grenades for their OHK ability. I also use fire born instead of radiant skin and the key is to wait after you die until your enemies don't suspect anything then revive and melee or stick them with grenades. Warlocks are really fun to use in PvP so give it a go.

      • you are like a mind reader, my first guardian was a hunter and then a Warlock which i deleted at Lvl 20 as i hated it, i made another Hunter and a titan, i deleted the other hunter on thursday and remade a Warlock(yes i'm that bored), yet playing the crucible with sunsinger is a nightmare, but reading through this is defo giving things to try out until void walker is open.

      • In case you use sunsinger depends what you're playing. If you're playing control, use viking funeral, firebolt grenades and ouch of flame. Use your grenades on control points to flush out targets for you to kill. Use radiant skin and go grenade happy on any control point but don't get too gutsy. Use heart of praxic if you have it If you play rumble, fusion grenades, radiant skin, gift of the sun, and voidfang vestments mean you spawn with two sticky grenades every time. Again, you can go grenade happy with radiance but not quite as much. Also use radiant will. Remember that in radiance, your scorch melee kills in one hit Always use flame shield, glide doesn't matter, and your weapons really don't matter either.

I primarily use Sunsinger.. -Perk wise, I use fusion grenades, Firebolt are also good for controlling certain areas, but if you have good aim you can get constant grenade kills with fusion grenades. I prefer Radiant skin over Fireborn, Self Rez can constantly get you killed if you use it in the wrong way. Also always have Flame Shield. Radiant Will so Radiance can lost longer. And finally, Gift of the Sun, for two grenades. :) Also, wear Voidfang Vestments! Spawn with grenade energy is extremelty helpful.

      • Ok. My main is my warlock and i would love to help you out. If you like using nova bomb, go voidwalker, obsidian mind and bad juju. The gun got good in pvp bc of the buff. And if u want to screw with the enemy and make him work to kill u, go with blink jump. The other perks, your call. But i also recomend using the nova bomb that leaves the vortex on the site to pick off that straggler that the regular explosion couldnt kill or other people running through

      • I prefer the warlock in pvp to the hunter and titan. Nova bomb is awesome. I get so many kills and assists from the tracking grenades and somehow he just seems more accurate.

      • Voidwalker is brilliant! Set it to shatter so it breaks up and as u jump up to fire nova b u can aim roughly Sunsingers sticky grenades are great and reviving urself is a great troll if u use it behind someone's back

Took me awhile to figure out the set-up that worked for me... Tho Warlock was Day1 character.. I went in PvP blind anyways :) DoT Heaven.. I like to go with Sunsinger.. If you're going to use Self-Rez, you must at least try to catch them off guard.. Tho I don't even recommend Self-Rez.. If you rez near someone or multiple they will just Shotgun you down as quick as you rose from the dead..or w/e other choice they prefer. Radiant Skin is noticeable dmg reduction..especially when taking on multiple enemies at once.. So.. Scorch ( melee ) when available will "Ignite" the enemy.. We take Flame Shield.. that's a given.. a cheap-ass shield they get just for rubbing against someone..lol.. We throw on Viking Funeral.. enemies you "Ignite" have the DoT longer & take more dmg.. The grenade many have looked past..myself included.. Firebolt Nade.. It's range isnt the best.. tho if you throw it in the general area hit can hit IIRC.. 3 different people.. may-be more.. I think it does 93 dmg.. It's very similar to that one on Bladedancer.. Now.. Touch of Flame.. all nades will "Ignite" enemies.. DoT.... Throw on HoPF for the nades..also gives more Heavy.. I think.. :P or Claws.. double Scorch.... So.. for example when playing Control.. and I see A,B,C being taken with some considerable speed.. It's go time.. Just before arriving pop that super.. Throw one nade in.. boom.. 3 guys hit for 93 dmg.. now they have a DoT which does 7 IIRC.. and for a loooong time with Viking Funeral on.. Throw another nade in.. Dead.. Keep throwing... Nothing left.. This is the Ultimate DoT set-up.. I hate playing against a Warlock with this set-up..lol.. I choose this way because I was horrible at sticking people with Fusion Nades.. If you're good at it, I may choose another PvP path.. My apologizes for the long post.. Im about/slowly starting my Titan PvP Career for the 5000 kills at least.. Tips n Tricks for either Sub-Class would be appreciated :)

Here's the best tips I can give you. 1: Never use Voidwalker because it's terrible. If you want a Blink class then go play Bladedancer. 2: Run your Sunsinger with Firebolts and maximum burn damage. Also Radiant Skin over self revive. 3: Use TLW with Aggressive Ballistics. If you hit someone with a Firebolt and then a single TLW shot, it's a guaranteed kill unless they get a revive overshield or something. Thorn isn't good on Warlocks because the gun's burn cancels out the grenade's burn. 4: Best exotics are Apotheosis Veil for 6v6 and Light Beyond Nemesis for 3v3. Claws aren't bad in 6v6 if you don't mind the slow TLW reload speed. Source: Nearly 5000 Warlock PvP games and 4 K/D.

          • They are actually op if you know how to use them. I'll give you a sunsiger build, because a lot of scrubs here only recomend void walker builds. First, use fusion granades and use two of them. The tracking is insane, it's nothing like the flux grenade, so much easier to hit, trust me. Use the flame shield. Personally I'm using the Claws of Ahamkara. Those gloves give you a second melee attack and combined with a shotgun and a distance melee, you will be invincible. Use self-res to spawn right behind people to knock them out. Remember, a charged melee is a one punch kill, with the Claws of Ahamkara you're getting a second one of those op melees. Hitting people while spaming fusion granades can be very effective.

          • I use Angel of light and self res, with Mida. Headshots from above before they know what's hit them. Shotty and melee for CQB Always wait to self res until the enemy has moved away a bit. Always funny.
