As someone who has used both hunters and titans in pvp, how do you use a warlock because to me right now, they suck. Advice welcome.
Edit: Thank you for the costructive comments for those that actually gave advice. I'll try to apply it.
Edit: Definitely having better results after switching up some of my abilities as recommended. Starting to now understand the danger a warlock brings to a match, especially after lobbing a nova bomb super from practically one control point to another.

14 RepliesThe biggest thing you can do to help yourself is put on Bloom. If you combine that with Axion bolt you will be surprised at the number of multi-kills you can get. For Melee run surge because if someone gets the drop on you it allows you to put the odds in your favor mobility wise. Votex Nova Bomb with Annihilate and Bloom is honestly the best Nova Bomb for PvE and PvP in my opinion.

1 ReplyThere's a sheer lack of bloom in this thread.

Voidwalker. Axion bolt. Blink. Life steal. Vortex nova bomb. Annihilation. Vortex mastery. Nuff said.
-
Use SUNSINGER! The grenades are op. The flare-sun-thing grenade can kill fast.
-
If your like me you select your warlock, give him a packed lunch, send him off to the crucible .... and die ... a few hundred times!
-
2 RepliesContrary to what many people believe, if you are using a void walker subclass then the best exotic armour for pvp is the void fang vestments not obsidian mind. Majority of your nova bombs won't get you more than a couple of kills so the bonus of obsidian mind isn't really that much. Coupling axion bolts with void fang enables you to spawn each time you die with grenade energy and axion bolts are great for finishing off enemies or significantly damaging them before you choose to engage them with your weapon. It may not seem like much but trust me spawning with grenade energy is so useful.

Bliiiiiiiiiink :)

(I know I'm terrible at PvP, I can still give pointers though.) My advice is to use blink carefully. Don't blink into situations you can't handle or blink into bad locations. I have accidentally blinked into so many shotguns.

Edited by Lump: 3/28/2015 1:13:15 PMFor Sunsinger: Radiant skin: activate w/ heavy or if there's a ton of guys at a base all you have to do is throw a grenade, hop in and spray while throwing more and meleeing for the ultimate cluster f*ck Firebolt grenade: this takes them down to very low health and Burning grenade: almost finishes the guy Viking funeral: they die from 1 melee while super up and grenades kill Flame shield: OP to all because it just puts up an over shield and if they're damaged a bit they die

Everybody look under your helmets! It's a brand new fusion grenade to the face!!

Nova bomb + skull of dire akamblahblah

Radiance punch = one shot

Dude, I was in the same boat. Until the most recent iron banner, I only rolled my striker Titan or either hunter subclass. I decided to challenge myself, and I'm glad I did. I prefer voidwalker (as most do) and voidfang vestments. I don't use tracking on my nova, but it is helpful-I like the vortex setting, especially if it's on a capture point. I use axion bolt for my grenades-new grenade every life! And of course, ......... Thorn, Felwinters Lie, and a 50-round against all odds! Make sure to set your armor low (doesn't matter in crucible) and your agility high.

Well with the bad juju and obsidian mind, and having a certain amount of skills set for the void walker, it's very easy to control large areas. I suggest you look up planet destiny's video on warlocks in pvp
-
1 ReplyVoidwalker, use blink and if you set up the skill tree correctly you can have it so that melee kills, grenade kills and super kills all charge your super more quickly, couple that with obsidian mind and bad juju and you're a mean purple bombing machine!

1 ReplyEdited by aem: 3/28/2015 11:31:00 AMVoidwalker. All the abilities lead to your Nova bomb, in turn, what leads to having a nova bomb are kills. Equip the melee where kills grant you super, and the nods where energy drain lasts longer and triggers whenever you use your abilities. Use axion bolt - probably the best grenade in the game in either to offensively, track and find your enemy to which you follow with a Melee or gunplay, or follow the enemy to kill after they seek cover and try to regenerate health. The melee has distance and connects to the nearby enemy (think energy sword from halo) Learn blink. Some say it's a little further than the hunters, not sure. But it's your positioning tool when nova bombing. NOVA BOMBS. Like all supers its situational. As its DESTINY's version of Hadouken, try to aim when there are at least 2 or more; in turn, generating 3 orbs. Or when you're just at a really high kill streak and don't want to lose it. Which Nova Bomb? I like the first because it feels the easiest to use. Shatter seems like the animation takes too long and lance, you really got to aim. When to Nova bomb? BOMBING when the enemy team gathers for heavy ammo (heavy ammo incoming is nice queue to start sprinting) or when they are at a control point. In this case, the faster the capture, the more enemies at the control point. Recommended item set: (Obviously) Bad Juju and Obsidian Mind. I use claws just because they look better on my warlock and I actually use MIDA lol But in seriousness, 2x chance to gain super energy from melee. 2x opportunity to activate energy drain. More energy drain, more grenades. More grenades, easier kills. Easier kills more Nova Bombs. Obsidian mind won't do anything if you die during launching and killing with your nova bomb. Cheers. Embrace the void

You should use mythoclast on your warlock too, complete your destiny scrub starter kit or Red Death

1 ReplyI promise you warlocks don't suck, I run one but spend most of my time in pve, so don't offend my kd
-
Fusion grenades. Dont aim just throw theyll stick. 2 of those. Melee across the map. And thats pretty much it
-
6 RepliesVoid walker, Blink, Axion Bolt, Shotgun & Obsidian mind.. I have 2 warlocks and it -blam!-ing annoys me to see other warlocks in pvp using sunsinger!!
-
I run a sun singer without self Rez. It's really fun to go and kill everyone without waiting to die
-
Edited by MisterEcks: 3/28/2015 11:56:56 AMVoidwalker warlock is a beast! Blink, vortex nades, and novabomb for days.
-
shotgun melee is OP, warlock melee range is very high voidwalker super can also take out an entire other team at a control or other choke point

10 RepliesEdited by legi0n47x: 3/28/2015 11:04:49 AMI'm a warlock PvP player for life. I prefer it to the hunter by far. My .02 As a void walker I use Vortex grenade Soul rip Focused burst or blink mood dependent Vortex mastery & the larger explosion upgrade Either vortex or lance for nova bomb map & mood dependent As sunbro All the grenades are excellent! Really it's play style preference. If your using fusions always go for gift of the sun to get 2 of them. Or use star fire protocol to utilize the two upgrades touch of flame & Viking funeral. Even without that exotic this is a great built option because it will often burn to death people that try to seek cover after getting hit with the other grenades or net you post mordums often. My other build choices are Balanced glide always Flame shield Radiant skin Radiant will, when not on a burn build And then choosing between 2 grenades or a burn build as mentioned above. Both have strong points. For both subclasses I max agility since armor stats don't matter. I prefer max discipline, especially for sunbroing it to cash in on radiance. Praxic fire can help with that too. IMO only the titans frustrating lightning grenade is better than the warlock vortex or mini sun, who's name eludes me, for baiting, hitting people in cover, or area denial. Fire bolt is also excellent for cover seekers. Warlocks melee is very dirty when paired with a shotgun, use it! Overall I prefer void walking for long large vortex grenades, life steal on melee kills, blink option, and multi kill super. Also it's very efficient at ruining a defender Titans day since nova bombs break thier ward of dawn and the vortex often kills them and others trying to use it :D. Even if I die screw it, that team lost it and my team doesn't have to deal with it.

4 RepliesEdited by atkBFG92: 3/28/2015 4:35:52 AM1. Use Voidwalker 2. Don't use Axion Bolt 3. If you choose to disobey Rule 1, don't equip Fireborn 4. As a Voidwalker, equip Soul Rip to melee 5. Do the Wombo Combo (Using the hair trigger of a shotgun to shoot then chain a melee very quickly) 6. Focus on Strength and Intellect. 7. Focus more on Armor and Recovery than Agility. The Voidwalker is stronger, but more frail than Sunsinger 8. Since the Wombo Combo ends with a melee, use Energy Drain for the Soul Rip effect. 9. More Strength = More Energy Drain = More Soul Rip = More Nova Bomb = More Death. NOVA BOMB FOR DAYS 10. Forgot to mention, equip Vortex for Nova Bomb. 11. If you're feeling lucky, equip Lance on Nova Bomb, shoot skyward, and see how that works out. 12. Use Blink, a Voidwalker's Glide is not as good as a Sunsinger's and will make you an open target 13. If you want advice on Sunsinger, ask. P.S. Sorry I keep editing this ._.
