Before I begin this, I have played as both Warlock and Hunter and understand the uses of each class. I'm not here to shit on Golden Gun or Arkblade, I'm here to try to find a way to make them balanced and fit into the flow of gameplay. Now that's out of the way let's get into the problem. Arkblade and Golden Gun are considered "OP" for a multitude of reasons. However, I feel the only reason they are so good is that they can chain multiple kills without much commitment. A hunter can go from one side of a map to the other with their super active, killing people along the way. I feel that they don't have to commit when going in with their super. If a Warlock misses Nova Bomb that's it. You went in and got nothing. Same with Titans and their Fist of Havoc.
Hunters however, don't have that. If you miss a Golden Gun shot or pop Arkblade and no one is around, you simply keep moving and find a target. This gives them plenty of opportunity to wipe out teams not one but twice or even three times. I've heard Bladedancers say "Wow only 3 kills on that one." Meanwhile I'm super happy to kill one guy with my Nova Bomb. Adding to commitment to both Hunter supers would prevent Hunters from going across the map, killing everyone. If we were to reduce the time Golden Gun and Arkblade were active to something around 10 seconds, those crazy kill frenzies would still be possible but would be much more reliant on player skill and either poor use of resurrections or crappy spawns. *cough cough* anomaly *cough cough* However, I think for Golden Gun, firing a shot should extend the duration that the super is up. This would add a risky element to the use of Golden Gun as you could blow a shot for the potential of removing threats from the field or wait and risk losing all your precious magic bullets. Similarly, Arkblade would have the Encore talent as a default and some other perk like higher jump or longer lasting invisibility could replace it. (Both these ideas are based off of Datto Does Destiny's from this video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKi30mhzglw) I also think that the damage reduction while Arkblade is up should be shrunk from 50% to 25%. I do think if you're going to be getting up that close and personal, you should have some reward for it, but from personal experience 50% is makes hunters nearly un-killable unless you use supers, get lucky sniper head-shots or have heavy weapon ammo.
If you have any other changes you feel would balance out PvP more in anyway please comment them below. If you disagree with my point of view please explain why below as well. Thank you very much for reading my article and I hope you have a good day.

I hear hunter supers from across map and coordinate with my team to EASILY kill them one sniper headshot to golden gun and they are down.

5 RepliesHunter is the only class that requires more than one button-click to perform a super. It's fair that there is a little more payoff for the supers that take the most skill.

Edited by Ebelski: 3/28/2015 7:29:15 PMThe only way for arc blade to get multiple kills, let alone wipe out an entire team, like so many here claim happens every game. Is if all of them have absolutely no clue what is going on, or even where they are. With the animation time you can't use it when you see someone because you will be dead by the time it's active. If they aren't good enough to kill you then, it wouldn't matter because they aren't good enough to win a gunfight. Not too mention they emit a warning sound and glow blue to tell you to get away. Simply changing levels will often buy you enough time for it to either run out, or get ready to shoot them. Tl:dr...arc blade doesn't need nerf. Whiners skills need a buff. Ps. I suck at crucible
-
You are crazy, all you need to do it turn up the volumen on the TV and run away if you are alone or if you are in a group you could shoot down any Hunter super. Nowadays everyone who plays the crucible often knows this. I believe that bungie should see that fist of panic and nova bomb can kill the whole team much more easily than Hunter's super, especially since as the time goes by everyone run away in different directions as soon as they hear Golden gun or Arcblade and I have to chase one guy or run around the map trying to find at least one guy (that guy who still doesn't know how Hunter's super sound like and doesn;t pay attenttion to the radar). In summary its not our fault you don't pay attention the sounds and visual aids(radar) on the game. On the other hand, everyone knows Datto is a Titan and you can't take him seriously since it's like asking Hunters what we think about Fist of panic and Titan's OHK melee, of course we are going to say its OP.
-
No. Considering how often I get panic supered once I pop GG or AB, which immediately ends any potential kill streak, I don't find the abilities to be in any way OP. I can't tell you how many times I have sniped/rocketed/Thorn'ed someone who popped GG and laughed at what I knew was some sodium-filled rage on the other end. Final round just after animation? Dead GG. And felwinter's + melee kills an AB, but doesn't even come close for both FoH or NB. The fact that, even if I hit you first with my super (GG or AB), popping FoH or NB means you beat my super without dying makes THOSE supers relatively OP. The only time you get long kill streaks with GG or AB is if you 1) find many enemies grouped fairly closely together and 2) none of them are paying any attention, miss the extremely loud noise at activation, and don't run away when they see teammates getting destroyed. Fact is, under the same circumstances, you can do just as much if not more damage with NB and probably the same with FoH since there is no warning sound that you are coming with your super. Bottom line is, if you are a VW warlock or Striker titan that constantly finds themselves getting killed by AB or GG, you are likely just an idiot.

Edited by Shaft62702: 3/28/2015 6:46:35 PMHunters have weak melee and grenade to make up for strong supers. Hunters are very easy to kill. You can't judge based off their super alone. If you nerf the super, the hunter has absolutely no 1 hit kill methods.

Nova bomb and fist of havoc are hunter super killers. The reverse is not true
-
11 RepliesLook. Titan supers can be used as panic attacks and always survive. Warlocks too. Hunters are very vulnerable in their animations. Gunslinger has normal health so its pretty easy to kill them. Blade dancer can only melee and only takes a good shotgun to the head and a quick melee then you can kill them and survive. Plus if a blade dancer charges at you, titan smash them. Or nova bomb. Simple. Hunter supers have to be thought and planned to use effectively. Please no hate. Thanks.

1 ReplyI agree, and I play a hunter a lot in crucible. BD is extremely powerful, GG doesn't get dmg resistance so you need precise aim to prevent yourself from being killed during your super. If Hungering blade wasn't a thing then BD'ers would actually have to THINK about when to use their super, instead of popping it and running head first into a team and shutting them down.

oh hell no not another one of these, for -blam!- sakes stop trying to balance PVP and give us some PVE content! plus Datto has no right to try and give an opinion on characters when he has three titans
-
3 RepliesIf you're a warlock and you miss a nova bomb then for -blam!-s sake you shouldn't be playing this game
-
20 RepliesPVP should just be removed period. It's horrible unbalanced for everyone and as it is a lot of the better weapons that are great for PVE aspects are getting nerfed because all the PVP players keep complaining about them. Look at all the buffs and nerfs to weapons that have happened so far and name one that was specifically for PVE at any point. The only one that there has been has been for shotguns and that was it. Vex Mythoclast, which at it's time was one of the most power exotics in the game was nerfed into oblivion and then put on life support and then (with the latest fusion rifle nerf) had the plug pulled on it. Not to mention Auto-rifles pretty much got full on replaced by pulse rifles. Look at how many people went from using Suros to Red Death over night (and not just because of Xur selling it). As the trend goes they pretty much nerf the most used weapons in the game or the ones that are killing too quickly and guess what weapons those are now? Sorry, but if PVP wasn't a thing, I am pretty sure a lot of people would be a lot happier.

Hahaha, had to laugh at #competative Muted.

GIT GUD! FGT CONFIRMED

Hunters are balanced very well. Its extremely easy to trade/kill/ run away from a bladedancer. Golden gun is even weaker. Extremely easy to run away or hide for couple seconds or pull out shotgun/sniper and kill it. It really is simple and easy. Do you have that kind of luxury against titans and warlocks? Nope. You are dead unless they skrew up their aim which is unlikely.
-
3 RepliesI think golden gun is fine. Bladedancer needs a PvP nerf but a pve buff
-
1 ReplyOn contrary, I can eat through them like butter!
-
Ok, go take your shotgun ranged melee somewhere else.
-
Stopped reading after Arkblade
-
BTW the damage reduction for arc blade us 30%, so bear your suggestion
-
There is no way to change the supers without completely destroying hunters in pve. The supers are bad enough there, so any downside would absolutely destroy hunters in raids.
-
This video is old.
-
Umm, stfu and git gud.. All the supers are OP. stfu

Coming from a day 1 titan, most people who fist of panic bring a bad name to us. Ive played all classes, i dont agree that they should have their supers nerfed and if anything the damage resistance on BD needs to be around 35, not 50 or 25 because those numbers are to great and to small. For everyone who plays their specific class, people generally know how to use their super effectively (however i have panic supered a few times before). Most people just argue about the fact that hunters have time to move around with their supers, but T and W are near unstopable while in super (ive died more times than a person would think during my fists of havoc). But nerfing anything for anyones super would majorly affect that number of people who play that class type. So thats my opinion but really IDGAF about PvP, im good with all classes.
-
I don't think they should be merged at all I can kill both of the hunters supers with ease blade dancer I just back up a little bit to get just out of reach when they melee up and shotgun twice easy, and with golden gun I either get real close or far away
-
Arc blade is trash . more than 50% of time an arc blade is used that person dies during it. Golden gun is a true super
