I did this for my teenage daughter a few months ago. At the time it seamed relatively painless. I made a user account for her and when I was setting up PSN it asked for her email and I believe I put my own in as well. So she can't buy any thing unless she has my password. I can't remember all the details but it seamed really easy and she has her own destiny characters allowing me to keep three.

one step forward two back... got his account setup but now the PS3 won't let destiny start claiming that parental controls restrict the access. I have turned parental controls off so go figure. blasted Sony! why so difficult!!!

Edited by Nolanism: 3/21/2015 11:52:01 PMHmmm. I did not run into that problem. I will look at her account and see if I can figure out how I did it. Did Sony send you a confirmation email or anything?

I've done all the email etc and the account works and we can login. the problem is with parental control on the account. I have a web link that shows me how to turn off the controls for the account but the option is simply not there in the PS3 or web interface. totally confused (amongst other words I could use...) so stupid...

Yeah that's strange I don't remember that at all.

https://support.us.playstation.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/184/~/ps3-sub-account-parental-controls so I don't have the content restrictions option in the PS3 interface or on the web. go figure...

Did you go to your PSN account on a PC and check his settings there? IF I remember correctly I had to set the parental controls up there for all my kids accounts.

spoke with Sony New Zealand. can't do it. if the game is say for eg M rated the system (ps3) will over ride any settings and block a sub account with an age lower than the game rating from playing the game. I replied... but I'm his parent and decide what he can and cannot play NOT Sony. just got stone walled with a bullcrap " That's how your system works". Xbox one is looking better each day...

yeah I've had a look on a PC but the interface is lacking the same bit i'm looking for also. it's very odd (amongst other words...). I must be doing something wrong but that aside this really is the most retarded way of managing kids/sub accounts. Sony are not making it a. easy or b. a pleasant user experience. I've been so frustrated I've stopped trying but I'll need to go back and re-visit it to crack the nut. I'm ready to create another class of character and need the slot freed up!

4 hours down and counting. so fed up with what should be a simple task I'm ready to bin the PS3 and go buy Destiny for my 360 and start again...

I'll past the web link here when I get back home. it's very clear what I need to do but the option is not there. maddening!

ah so you added her email and yours. maybe that's what I'm missing. I'll have another crack at it today. thanks
