It is pronounced (Yahl-lahr-hawrn)
Heimdall's horn, used to warn the gods of Ragnarok.
No if, ands, or buts. Everyone is pronouncing it wrong and they think they are correct because it's how everyone else says it. They are also wrong on how to say it. I do not mind people abbreviating it to G-horn but saying it completely wrong is just horrible.

So, you're telling me the next time I'm with my friends playing, I should be the only other person on the entire planet to call it "yallerhorn" so everyone can think I've gone full retard? I'll pass.

Watch the 6th planet destiny podcast and they have a real Icelandic person say how to pronounce it correctly.
-
Actually both the Europeans and Americans are getting it wrong. It's gat-the-horn (I believe), and it's in Icelandic.

3 RepliesWas going to say thank you for teaching the proper pronunciation to everyone. I see a lot of hating in the comments so advice to everyone is... If you're going to pronounce it how you like, no need to comment, no really cares how you say it, so don't tell us how you will or won't say it. Simply keep it for yourself and move on from the temptation of attention. And to the OP, calling everyone wrong (although sort of true) can seem a bit hostile and will generally cause negative feedback. I say sort of true because in the end languages are all products of the human mind. A mind that makes errors daily. Who knows what the true pronunciation is, john back in Nordic mythology might of had a typo for all we know. Anyways take care everyone just a little thought for everyone :) thanks op for the correct annunciation by ancient standards which is always prone to change. Not ring sarcastic just saying we tend to think that all things written in a book are law. But they are written by other humans like you and I. Just imagine one of the not so brightest people writing something now and years from now everyone takes that as the absolute answer. Ha that's a beautiful and drawn out troll.

1 ReplyRegardless of the correct way to pronounce it, you have just wasted hours of your life on something extremely trivial. You will never get that time back
