No, because most of these establishments can barely afford to stay afloat as is. They don't bring in income.

The large ones bring in insane money.
-
Yeah, you are right. But the large majority do not. And if they do it's because of donations from the average joe.
-
So what if only profits were taxed? If your gross is equal your expenses then you'd net nothing and not be taxed.
-
I wouldn't be upset with that, but I think that it wouldn't mean that much. Besides a lot of religious establishments use profits to run a lot of charity work, food/shelter drives, etc. I get both sides of the coin. Really I do.

Donations=income buddy, they can pay just like the rest of us

Edited by DjSwagNinja: 2/21/2015 6:50:35 PMSo you are saying people need to pay for their beliefs? Donations are not mandatory and a lot of people can't afford to make them.
-
You can believe what you want for free, but if you want a building and land you pay like everyone does. No reason a store has to pay to make money while a church doesnt

Edited by DjSwagNinja: 2/21/2015 7:06:29 PMThat's a pretty close minded statement. You don't realize how bad a lot of establishments are struggling. It's not like a store or business at all. Most, I say most, put the money earned directly in to the place of worship or into the community. Edit: it's tough, because just like in every other field you have people who take advantage of and scam.
-
And thats great for them, but why should they be free of tax? A store has an income and puts its income into its purpose and at the same time provides for the community goods and services
-
But what the establishment gives back, clothes, food, etc is not being sold. It's given/donated.
-
After its given to the church, its literally just a distributor of donations in that aspect and because of that this charitable act has nothing to with the income they make weekly from offerings

Edited by cxkxr: 2/21/2015 9:48:49 PMDoes the govt own your house & property, or do you? Do you think the govt owns everything, and you're just paying rent?
