Bungie, honestly, is it really so hard to add an OPTION for matchmaking instead of FORCING stuff upon us? There are enough options already forthose lazy people without friends, why else do I get tons of random invites for raids, nightfalls and strikes?
NO Bungie, I don't want to be forced to play with complete strangers! That's a real throwback! I don't want to play with some people who A. do not compensate for the forced higher difficulty (due to having three guardians instead of one), and B. I don't want to talk to, which will make things even more complicated.
And no, maybe I don't want to grab two friends just to don't have any randoms. I, like probably many others, want to do stuff on their own, and help people when I feel like I want to. For me, now I do play one thing less on Destiny.
In short: GIVE US OPTIONS, DON'T FORCE US
Bump this please, if you agree. If not, feel free to explain me why I might be wrong. But please, keep it clean!
IMPORTANT EDIT: Another user mentioned another very important flaw about this. What if I do actually play the strike with my friends, someone get's kicked out because of an error, and some random takes the place of my friend? And then, to make it even worse, he doesn't play the actual strike, but does something completely else (which what happened to me before)?
Please Bungie, please don't just use the matchmaking system from normal strikes. Something like that would completely ruin my Destiny experience, and I don't want to have to end my Strike in the middle of it (and have to start it all over - no checkpoints) or play the Strike another time, because a random took my friends place and I can't complete it with my friend anymore. That's another good reason to create an option to turn matchmaking on and off (if that is possible).
P.S.: As an User below mentioned, I forgot about AFKers. I had a few experiences with those in the past, and I don't want to leave my strike just because of those. I hope, if you add forced matchmaking, that there is a system which deals with AFKers, like throwing them off after five minutes of inactivity.
P.S.2: I do know that some things can't be easily implemented because of several reasons. So IF there is an reason why a simple option to turn on/off matchmaking is not possible, I and many others would be pleased to see that reason.
EDIT here: A friendly user explained to me in simple, that due to the probably massive coding of the game and the matchmaking system, it might be a big problem to create an "on/off switch" for the system. If that's the case, I can understand it (and it makes my post completely irrelevant), but it would be kind to have an actual response of an Employee instead of a simple "No, you cannot solo anymore".

Agreed, I prefer to run the weekly heroic solo as well. Sometimes I just like doing stuff alone and not have to deal with the many douchbags encountered online.
-
PREACH IT!!! AMEN!!
-
I agree that it should be an option. It'll be another bunch of AFKers and such.
-
The weekly is extremely easy and I dont got a problem whit matchking for this cause the weekly its very easy its almost like a normal strike
-
Matchmaking is the lesser of two evils.
-
Its the weekly heroic who cares. Its not the nightfall or raids that have match making.
-
That's the only upside. Though, I still prefer to do some things alone, for example guides for heroics, which apparently a lot of people need help for (good, it's designed to be three-players strike, but still, options are better than to be forced).

Agreed. I am one who has been wishing and asking for a way to disable matchmaking since the game released. Most randoms are worthless who sit back and let you do the work. I will not give people free rewards. And there are times I want to solo a strike just because I can.
-
I want to do things solo, too. It's not even that hard to do strikes solo with the right gear and strategy, I'm doing it for a long time now. Then helping other's doing it afterwards.
-
totally agree with the idea that forced match making is bad.
-
What game gives you whatever you want when you want it?
-
Borderlands, for example, an inspiration for Destiny. The folks over at Gearbox Software always gave options. You can do everything alone, everything together, you can find randoms, but you don't have to. There are plenty of other games, too, but maybe I want to play Destiny instead of those games.
-
Then you're ok with what they do give you I guess.
-
Bump We shouldn't have to be forced into matchmaking. It should be an option and not forced on us
-
Sheesh, they do something beneficial to the community for once and your sorry ass decides to complain? You don't HAVE to use matchmaking. Form a fireteam in orbit, then go to the weekly. It's not that hard to think of things. But no, I guess it's easier to scream and rant in order to make yourself sound like somebody with an almighty, perfect plan. Learn this: you can't solve everyone's nitpicking little problems while keeping everyone happy. Get over yourself.
-
I HAVE to use matchmaking in case I actually want to play solo. Also, how do you think Bungie saw and talked about the matchmaking thing? Because others "ranted" about NOT having it. I'm showing my opinion here, that's what Bungie wants us in the community to do.
-
Dude. Just get a fire team of 3 and go
-
Dude, read posts before replying to them

I honestly like this because I do have a good amount of friends but they don't always play weekly heroic. So it gives me a chance of not doing it alone. It is just like doing strikes so I really don't mind it. Hope I got to help you understand why I like this.
-
You never join when friends who are almost done with the strike invites you? ...no longer possible!
-
I do understand what you say (and do agree for parts of it), and I do understand the upsides of the matchmaking. The thing I am complaining about is that it is forced, rather than an option. I do want to experience a few strikes on my own too, instead of having randoms who might kill everything and ruin me my exploring. I mean, there's nothing wrong about playing with others together, since Strikes are designed to be a three-player experience, but on those low levels you can easily do the strikes on my own. I don't two more level 32's in my team then. I just wish for an option rather than be forced to...

I understand and get what you mean you have a point
