What do people have against feminism? Why would anyone say they aren't a feminist, or further, are anti feminist?!
Feminism is the forwarding of women's rights in order to gain equality. That is the definition. I don't care if some moron said to kill all men, that's not feminism.
EDIT: I came across this comic which outlines a few of the aims of a contemporary feminist. I don't agree with all of it, but it's worth a look if you're sceptical, surely one of the points they make must ring true.

6 RepliesBecause a lot of feminists are really stupid. A group made a video of 8 year old girls swearing and saying the F bomb for some reason. Some feminists also got GTA removed for target in Australia.

5 RepliesIt's mostly just radicals who call themselves feminists who drag the name through the mud. Think of it like Christians for an example. True Christians tend to be pretty awesome people as a whole, but the ones who like to pick and choose what rules to follow and say anything that they don't like is evil hurt the group as a whole. Radicals tend to always make groups of people look bad because they are the ones who scream loudest, be it through words or action.

1 ReplyThey have equality, feminist just take it to far and are very hard to work with. Like in health class the teacher was talking to the class about how men are naturally stronger than most women. Its just the way it is, then feminist take to much offense and start ranting.

13 RepliesLol. That comic only took generalizations from maybe, what, a couple countries' cultures? On another side, if these things are even real problems, how are they getting in the way of the importance of true violations of women's rights? The ones that happen is Asia and Africa and the Middle East. Honestly, if this is truly what people worry about while women are stoned for going out in public out somewhere else, then this is a shameful species.
-
15 RepliesI have no problem with it. But in America and Europe they make up problems just for attention. Now in parts of Asia and the Middle East, women there have their rights violated.

Feminism is the forwarding of women's rights in order to gain equality. http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/5976660?ncid=edlinkushpmg00000042
So what part don't you agree with? The whole message is about equality and pretty much nailed it.

12 RepliesI agree in equality, as it is the right of all, but when people go overboard with their idealisms, we rock the foundation of what peace is built on. Say you have four people in a room with you: One is a white straight middle class male who has never gotten higher than a C in his career in school. He is borderline sexist, treating women as if they are objects to enhance his own status. In a world of equality, he would be condemned. One is a girl, fairly overweight, but proposes no serious presence in a conversation. She allows people to walk all over her, treating her like trash. In a world of equality, she would be idolized. The third is a boy, scrawny, almost to the point of malnourishment. Despite is mental prowess, women converse hateful words because of his physical appearance. In a world of equality, he would be cared for. The last is a girl, the pinnacle of fitness, but at the same time, she retains her femininity. She is overly protective of women, being what we'd call a radical feminist. In a world of equality, she would be exiled. These are four opposite ends of the spectrum field we live in today. You are the fifth person, who stands in the middle. You are unbiased and ever caring. You respect all races, religions, and beliefs. In a world of equality, you are God. Despite the world for which we have set this scenario, you can only change ONE aspect of each person to make them be accepted. No matter what you change, what you make different, you can never make each person accepted. You can only bring them closer to what would be considered perfection. Along with this, your status would be removed. Because you tried to change people, you yourself have become the thing you tried to change: You tried to change people to better fit your views. So would you try to be a God, and only be looked upon as a monster? Would you choose to be real with the world, and let the world think what they want? Or is it too much to ask to settle in between? The question remains the same: Which of these options is the true equal? The light? The dark? Or the grey in between?

1 ReplyI'm a male and I support real feminism that actually strive for equality but I don't support radical feminist like Anita Sarkeesian who says she speaks on behalf of all women when infact she doesn't. Women can speak for themselves and don't need some overseer who controls them to get what she wants and I'm sorry but Anita seriously makes feminists look bad.
