Hello everyone,
Apologies for the inconvenience.
The Special Surge event blocking progression of Guardian Ranks is not intended. We have flagged this with our designers and have confirmed that this is an unintended consequence of the Famine modifier not being able to be applied to the same activity as the Surge. Due to the setup of the event we are unable to quickly change that modifier to being selectable, however they are actively investigating if making this change to future, similar iterations of the event will be possible. Or if not, then they will pursue other mitigations to ensure that player progression is not blocked in the future.

Hi it’s Dec 10 and special surge week again. 4 months later. Famine mods still not available. I’m stuck at guardian rank 7 now. Please advise. Thank you.

Why is this not fixed yet? You have locked everyone out of getting guardian rank 9. Gear progression associated with tiers is locked behind guardian rank. We are just stuck at getting tier 3 gear with no way to access tier 4 gear. This makes no sense at all!,

"This is intended, as Special Surge is live this week. You should be able to use Famine again next week when the Surge ends." So which is it? It is or is not intended? What's with the backtracking? You should delete incorrect thread before more people get confused and upset.

Any good reason for heavy ammo famine being disabled also?

This is really poor. I wanted to get my progression to Rank 8 this week. It should be optional to opt out of special surge to equip Famine for this. How many Guardians are stuck at Rank 7 for a week? Time is premium for most of us.

Man, what happened to you guys? This isn't an isolated occurrence. It feels like there is no quality control going on at all anymore. And I'm not looking for any joking replies about how "didn't you hear? We're the QA!" Like I get it. I've heard it a thousand times. It's not funny anymore. It's genuinely frustrating how bad things have gotten.

If you keep making oversights like this and hoping players will return for the fixes you're going to to find a lot of players wont be returning for those fixes, i have one friend left playing this game now... everyone else backed out to preserve their sanity. There's literally no point playing this week for me now that I've ecountered this issue, ive been grinding most of the spare time I've had lately on reaching a power level so that i can achieve rank 8 this week and now your event is actively hindering thousands of players from progression. We'd rather have the event modifier shut off completely than your choice to pretty much "say oh well, tough luck... come back when the event is over" awful PR move here Bungo.
