My Bungie account name has been changed by unknown person(s). Why has this happened, there was no email or any other notification when this was attempted. Where is Bungie's security? How can this sort of thing happen with 2 step verification?
What is the explanation for this.
It is almost impossible to contact Bungie.

Edited by BNGHelp8: 1/31/2025 11:29:17 PM
It is almost impossible to contact Bungie.
Bungie cannot help you with your account being compromised you have to work with the platform that was "hacked" for that.
Why has this happened, there was no email or any other notification when this was attempted
There are no emails sent out for name changes, by passing log in criteria it is assumed that you are the one making the changes.
Where is Bungie's security?
Issuing game bans? Responsibility for account security falls upon us, the player, and the platforms that we use to login.
What is the explanation for this.
if you didnt make the change either someone who has access to your devices did or someone with access to one or more of your accounts did. You might want to look into changing all of your passwords, refreshing or activating 2 factor and making sure all other devices and apps are signed out before you get worse than a name change

This is why we don't use "carry services"

Hi there. Adding to Shark_Shank's answer. The Bungie.net Help forum is Bungie's official place for players to get support. However, account security is every player's own responsibility and not within Bungie's ability to control. We highly recommend you immediately change the passwords to all of your linked accounts and enable/refresh 2-factor authentication or a passkey if you have not done so already. Refer to your platforms' support for their security recommendations. For more tips, Bungie has provided an Account Security Guide that may also help. If you have not used up all of your name changes (everyone was given 3), you can change it back to what you had before or something else. If you've used up all of your name changes, then unfortunately the name will remain until Bungie decides if and when to issue all players another name change. See the Bungie Name Guide for more info.

2 RepliesEdited by The Hermit IX: 1/31/2025 11:33:11 PMTag help. Sorry you got hacked man but it’s your platform you need to address. Have you ever used paid carries or does anyone else have your account info?

Bungie has nothing to do with this. It was your platform account that they got access to.
