I have gotten all these strong weapons with good rolls and good artifice armor and I'm using all kinds of hellion and arc buddies, bait and switch and devour and what do i get?? destroyed by every boss in warlord's ruin. how does Bungie not know the difference in challenging fun content and frustrating content that makes you want to quit playing destiny period. between the difference in strength in me and the bosses in warlords ruin and how hard that new raid is bungie should let us get something overpowered or something to make this game easier. we grind and grind and grind for God rolls and powerful exotics only for them to get nerfed and then they take away surges and give all the bosses more health or lower our levels when we get in there. Bungie, please cut us a brake because this is not fun. can you make this game a tad bit easier please.

You aren't.

I know a vent post when I see one. I understand. I've been there too. No judgement. If you want the solo / solo flawless clear, you can absolutely do it. It's all about getting familiar with the flow of the encounters. Keep face-planting and eventually you'll get so good at it you'll wonder why you complained at all. Except for GOTD. That dungeon is a slog.

1 ReplyYou gotta remember the 5 D’s of dodgeball. Dodge, duck, dive, dip and dodge. If you can dodge an enemy projectile, you can dodge a dodgeball.

7 RepliesMy brother in the light, with all due respect, soloing dungeons isn't something they expect everyone to be capable of doing. Bungie, please do not cut any brakes. It's a felony.

Take some advise from someone who thought that they’d never solo let alone solo flawless any dungeon that has now solo’d all of the dungeons & has completed all but 2 solo flawless. It takes practice - lots & lots of practice. It’s a fine balance of playing your life & playing safe - play it too safe & you’ll get overwhelmed, but being too aggressive you’ll put yourself in danger of a stupid death. My advice watch videos but also pay attention to your own strengths & weaknesses. I’ve used builds suggestions from YouTube but you need to realise that you’re not a full time gamer so of course it will be hard.
-
Use thunderlord or microcausm for damage and be patient. You don’t need to one or two or even 3 phase the boss you just have to kill it eventually
-
By practicing …. Equipment will only make the encounters slightly smoother. Soloing a dungeon is not something most players can accomplish
-
Skill issue, it’s not bungies fault you aren’t good enough
-
With patience and persistence. A good build and the right weapons also go a long way in helping win the fight.

1 ReplyIf I ever, EVER, manage to solo a dungeon I'll be sure to let you know how I did it! 😁👍

Edited by Artisan: 7/20/2024 12:27:03 PMSoloing is meant to be discouraged. They don't give you any extra loot, nor better quality loot despite the absence of normal game-scaling. A big part of the marketing strategy with Destiny 2 is to invite soloplaying in but then deliberately hamstring and penalize it to 'encourage' friend referrals. They then try to badly 'feature' it by giving token checkbox completions or "non-rewards" I'd prefer to call them for going against the grain they set. Difficulty should be selectable, not forced and not preset by mere fireteam size only, and the rewards for that difficulty should reflect that and scale appropriately. A five minute in Photoshop graphic doesn't cut it.

Soloing a dungeon is meant to be hard for most players. Its not something you can stroll through simply by equipping godrolls, keep at it and improve or simply accept that you wont get a guardian rank and a couple of cosmetic drops.

3 RepliesEdited by Hawpy: 7/20/2024 12:04:53 AMWith all due respect, Warlord's Ruin is a terrible place to start for soloing Dungeons, same goes for Ghosts of the Deep. Tanky bosses, lots of enemies, lots of mechanics and plenty of things that can lead to instant death. Grasp of Avarice would be a better place to try; it is mechanically easier, but not totally powercrept out of relevance like the ones before it. Survivability and endurance are way more important. Unlike a regular run of a Dungeon or a Raid, you can't rely on other people to get kills while you do mechanics, and go all-in on damage for a 1-2 phase. Mentally prepare yourself to do 4, 5, 6 phases on the newer ones. It will invariably be a slog. Devour is good in enemy-dense content, but it won't keep you alive against a boss without a constant stream of weak enemies. Playing safe is better than pushing for damage and mechanics. Unless it will wipe you anyway, it's not worth dying for. Don't feel like you have to do damage the whole time just because the DPS music is playing. Farm for ammo, wait for ability energy if you feel that you need to. No encounters in the harder ones have any passive wipe timers. Loadout choices matter immensely, too, as you have to deal with everything yourself. That said, it's very viable to swap loadouts/items mid-encounter, as you'll be killing enough enemies to generate the ammo. Make use of swapping to reserve and scavenger mods while you can. Unless you can be a safe distance from important enemies at all times, explosive weapons should be avoided - it only takes one enemy jumping in front of you, or taking more self-damage than you expected, to undo all your progress.

How? One bullet at a time!

Soloing Dungeons isn’t suppose to be easy. If you’re new to it, I’d recommend starting with Pit of Heresy to practice. I soloed Warlords last weekend and found the challenge to be appropriate.
-
Your not at the skill level required to solo a dungeon sorry to say Because while 90% of soloing a dungeon and even solo flawing a dungeon is perseverance not skill for most people you do have to at least be around a certain level to get it done with

Skill issue
-
The big ol strategy is more about survival. There’s no enrage then wipe penalty. You can take as long as needed

Bungie is moving the game toward the elite or content creators. Who all will get the loot they want and move on. Designing the game this way will kill it. RoN may have been "easy" compared to others, but it was the most inclusive raid. And numbers spiked for it. It made ALOT more people I know engage in endgame. Whereas the new stuff has made them stop playing or want to even try it. I predict an exodus of pve players soon.
-
3 RepliesFirst: stop running with stuff just cause it's meta. Use stuff that you like and fits your playstyle. Second: survivability is more important than damage output. Third: you keep trying it till you get it.
-
I’ve gone solo flawless in every dungeon, it just takes patience and practice. If you keep dying, take a breath and try a different approach, change your weapons or try a different subclass. You’ll get it eventually just take it one section at a time, you’ll find once you get past a section the next time it seems much easier.
-
Well: 1. The -5 modifier made Dungeons less solo friendly than before 2. Warlord’s Ruin already had bosses with more health than other ones from different dungeons but the difference between Warlord’s Ruin and Ghost of The Deep is Warlord’s mechanics are more simple to managed Solo and a lot faster to start damage phase.
-
Having all the best gear doesn't make a good player. Game sense movement and unfortunately skill all play a factor. Taking on a dungeon solo takes time and patience, you'll get there.
-
1 ReplyAs someone who has solo flawlessed every Dungeon, you are going to die a lot, often to what appears cheap and sometimes a really dumb bug. You are going to frustrated and curse Bungie's name a lot. Been there a bunch myself. But the important thing if you really want it, is to keep trying. Learn the spawns and when the spawns happen. It's OK to miss a damage phase, this is a marathon not a sprint. Survivability is more important than damage. Step back sometimes and take a break to reflect on what caused your last run to fail. I don't think anyone clears it the first time, its all trial and error so don't feel bad about backing out to orbit and coming back later for practice. You can also try some of the easier Dungeons to learn survivability as well, like Pit of Heresy or Shattered Throne. You can do it, but it's going to take longer because you need to focus on living. I think most of my runs take 2-3 hours on the more recent Dungeons.

Lots of patience and a ton of time. Prioritize survivability because you can have as many damage phases as you need.
