Bring back sunset weapons?
I know that thing might not be a good time to bring this up, but I was wondering, why can't the sunset weapons be brought back? I know that prior versions of certain weapons are being reintroduced back into the game with new mods on them, but why can't prior weapons that we had (and more than likely still have tucked away in the vault) just be un-sunset so that way we could be able to use them again. I mean their light levels keep getting brought up each time that everything gets leveled. So why not just un-sunset them and allow us to be able to start using them again? Or is that something that's "too hard" to get done? Seriously, I would love to know

Simple answer: Because they plan on reselling literally all of them they didnt already reissue over time to us. Free "content". Free money. That was Bungies entire intent behind sunsetting in the first place.

1 ReplyI believe those weapons were sunset because they caused bugs in the game I think they need to sunset some more weapons such as wishhander it suffocates the entire room it's the best in kinetic slot by a large margin 11-13,000 x3 is over powered for a primary. Hopefully they content vault Gambit, and all it's weapons, as 1% of player population play gambit each month. They could free up some file space, and add something like 12 Sparrow Racing League

4 RepliesThere are a number of reasons for this. 1) Balance - the likes of Mountaintop, Recluse and Revoker should never again see the light of day 2) Reintroduced guns - plenty of sunset items already have been reissued with new perks, making the old ones usable means nothing for the majority 3) Obtainability - some weapons, or rolls on reissued weapons, aren't available anymore, so enabling them potentially puts game-changing items exclusively in the hands of players who already had them 4) Wrath - everyone who has ever deleted a sunset weapon on the premise that it would be useless in level-enabled content would be furious

I think Mountain Top is the only weapon I want back, wouldn't even mind if it returns as an exotic. Or at least make micro missile a perk for both special and heavy gls. I mean they nerfed it so it has a smaller blast radius and poor in air accuracy so it shouldn't be OP in pvp.

Well for one, many of them can't be obtained anymore, so you'd just be opening this up to players that kept those things, plus many of them have been "reissued" already, albeit VERY poorly, like Spare Rations or Mindbender's for example. And then you have the ones like Recluse and Mountaintop which just don't need to come back because they'd either be too OP (again), or nerfed to the point bringing them back is pointless. Basically it would be a boon for old players and further put a divide between them and new players unless they also added them ALL to loot pools in the game, which would take quite some doing with updating perk pools and what not. Not impossible. Incredibly unlikely IMO.
