I’ve seen it all. From TikTok’s about how Destiny is in a bad spot with it’s seasons and how the progression of the story is slow, how crafting is unbelievably difficult, how having a pirate season is stupid when we’re getting into a really deep part of the story, the div nerf, etc. For folks who are like me, who like to play the game despite its flaws and such, don’t let peoples opinions about who this game is going affect how you’d like to play and view the game. There’s a ton of reasons why things are like they are.
I think what people fail to realize is that Destiny 2 is at it’s prime of creativity but not a lot of man power to get a lot of things that we keep talking about done. It’s only been 6 months that Sony has acquired Bungie, before that Activision was widely known for giving more attention to games that were more popular like Call of Duty so they didn’t allow much to Bungie and it’s clearly seen. Not much can be done in 6 months, they’re still hiring people to make it so that we can enjoy the game. I also do not blame Bungie for not wanting to share as much as they did before as the community did make threats against a dev. It’s part of the reason why we don’t know much about the next season anymore until probably a week left before the season is over.
I like where the story is at with the current season, we may lose the Helm because if Nezarec’s resurrected, his energy may destroy the helm. I also like the mystery as to what are we going to do with these relics. Not everything has to make sense. Trust me as someone who grew up on BTS lore and their universe being as weird as it is - and the use of the butterfly affect - not everything needs to make sense lore wise. So everyone, especially new lights, don’t let other peoples view taint how you’d like to play this game.

1 ReplyIf this is D2's prime for creativity, YIKES.

You think people are quitting because someone else told them to? Maybe D2 is just in a really rough spot right now and people arent as pliable as you claim.

12 RepliesEdited by TheShadow: 11/8/2022 9:16:12 PM
Don’t let other peoples opinions affect how you want to play the game.
I haven't and never will, but it is funny to watch some of the Bungie fans on this forum push their opinion.
I think what people fail to realize is that Destiny 2 is at it’s prime of creativity but not a lot of man power to get a lot of things that we keep talking about done.
You lost right here^ Bungie is a multi-billion-dollar business that chose not to put the manpower into this game. That is literally 100% on them, so the "poor Bungie" nonsense doesn't work and never will when it comes to that. Nothing personal, but this is such nonsense when people try to use this. It's like when people try to use how poor Bungie is having a hard to creating a game because of their engine, yet refuse to face reality and look at the fact that this is a business that has been in business for over 30 years now that (chose to not invest in their game, like they chose to not invest in dedicated servers and that the game has been running on an outdated system for 8 years now.) Enough is enough with the poor billion-dollar business.

4 RepliesPlay how you want but this season is bad, I would hope this isn’t their “peak” of creativity, they have more than enough people and $$ but their priorities are on the Chinese game. Feel what you want but the majority of players aren’t “wrong” for voicing their displeasure over a phoned in season by the B team.
progression of the story is slow
Because it is?
how crafting is unbelievably difficult
That bastardized version of Warframe crafting? Yes to the point I made this thread to make crafting worth the time and effort https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/261892840?sort=0&page=0
I think what people fail to realize is that Destiny 2 is at it’s prime of creativity but not a lot of man power to get a lot of things that we keep talking about done.
Prime of creativity? When the basic element (loot) is copy and paste of one base weapon with different casings I find it hard to say destiny is at its prime creativity and they have 800 people and it's not enough when a company with 300 people can put spaceship battle, hoverboard and giant mechs in their game?

Edited by max: 11/8/2022 4:57:36 PM
Destiny 2 is at it’s prime of creativity but not a lot of man power
yes they only have a small amount of 900 employees as of 2022
It’s only been 6 months that Sony has acquired Bungie, before that Activision was widely known for giving more attention to games that were more popular like Call of Duty
This a joke? sony is the money thrower in the industry, Activision wields the whip, which is why bungie didn't like them in the first place

2 RepliesEdited by Hunter_Umbra: 11/8/2022 8:29:34 PMI've said this on a YouTube video: Destiny's motivation to evolve is being killed by a lack of competition, as ironic as it is. The gunplay is outmatched by very few, and the loot is outmatched by many. One day there will be another science-fantasy, fps looter-shooter, mmorpg-lite game. Until then, Destiny still fills a specific niche in gaming, and is unfortunately growing stale for most players.

The game is in a terrible spot right now. What do you mean?

33 RepliesEdited by girrafe07: 11/9/2022 10:35:23 AMInstead of making misguided and innacurrate posts like this, ask what Bungie has provided the player for all its greed? - Boring seasonal missions at a cost, dungeons that now come at a cost, a bloated eververse, DLC with minimal content, events designed to get players to spend more money. What have we, the consumers, recieved for all these additional costs? Recycled, rehashed, reused content. Destinations removed, maps removed, strikes removed, raids removed, and the list goes on. Sony is not part of the equation, Bungie was making poor decisions built around greed long before that occurred, and even longer before Sony will have any direct involvement. Under Activision, Bungie had third party support that gave the player more content, better seasons, better missions, and better DLC. Bungie treated the situation as Activision being the greedy partner and stifling the creativity, when in reality Activision could tell Bungie was no longer the same developer.

3 RepliesNumbers aren’t opinions unfortunately

4 RepliesThough I agree overall, your own post title isn't possible, Bungie force their opinion of how to play Destiny, by forcing loadouts, by dictating what how and when we do everything in the game ... Yet, perversely, I still love, and still play it, I clearly need a psych evaluation, lol

1 ReplyAs my mother used to say: “If everyone else decided to jump off a roof, would you do the same? (Ignore peer pressure and the urge to belong. Think for yourself.)” And… “Consider the source. (What most people say have more to do with their desires and agendas, and not truth or accuracy. So some people are simply best ignored.)” The complaints you are hearing are coming from three sources: 1. The usual melodramatic complaints about how the game sucks and that it’s dying that come at the end of a season. This complaining is best ignored. As soon as it’s a new season and those players are back to getting their hits of dopamine, their complaints will stop…until they’ve exhausted the new content. 2. Pvp players frustrated with the state of that side of the game. These players have a legitimate grievance as Bungie keeps over-promising and under-delivering on that end.. Though the way those grievances are expressed are often not helpful or respectful. 3. Those players (pve and pvp) who hate playing this game as an action MMO that they have to have a long-term relationship with. They want the game to be an over-designed campaign shooter that they can binge on and then leave. Coming back months later while the game has not progressed in their absence. And disgruntled PVP players who just don’t want to engage with pve or the rpg aspects of the game. They want Destiny to basically be Overwatch… a hero-shooter. (Overwatch was born from a failed Destiny-like action-MMO project that Blizzard called “Titan”. TLDR: If those complaining don’t want the same things out of this experience that you do, then their unhappiness shouldn’t be allowed to impact your enjoyment. Just because I don’t like Dark Souls games, doesn’t mean those who do shouldn’t be free to do so.

4 RepliesI made an LFG group on this very site for a Master NF earlier, got two other players and we were halfway through Devils Lair when one left. We had no problems, none of us had died and we were steaming through. Got a message from the guy who left saying that you had to run Arc Titan for this Nightfall and that was the polite bit. I was running Void Bubble trying out a new build. When he left I messaged the other player to say I was trying to get a third but we should crack on. He left. Someone actually left a Nightfall that was going well because I wasn't running the class they wanted. No wonder people are leaving this game in droves.

2 RepliesThat there is anything to do in 5 year old game is a testament in it’s own right! I’m thrilled that I can keep playing this game and the developers keep adding to it amazes me. I’ve saved so much money by not having to buy and try out a bunch of new games that I prolly wouldn’t like. I’ll take what Destiny gives, or sells me, to keep playing a game I enjoy so much!😁

1 ReplyGood one. First of all people in this games community are sheep. They love what their streamers love and hate what streamers hate. They follow the meta they see streamers use, they grind for streamers "new favorite weapon" from the 500th "my new favorite weapon" video. Players in this game do not have an "own" opionion. That being said, the complaints content creators and the sheep bring to the table as of now are mostly valid. It's just that these issues have been there for over 2 years now. Just now starting to complain is the issue. I brought these pain points up 2 years ago. Noone was listening, noone cared. If more people would stop eating up terrible content for years and actually realized how terrible this games current systems are, we wouldn't be in this gacha game money milking meta with zero effort throwaway content.

This makes a good point I found the game starts becoming tedious and unenjoyable when I start listening to the streamers in the top 1% telling me the best loadouts and the best weapons to use. It just becomes stressful and Not fun. Which incidentally brings me to the point of champion modifiers… They are an absolute slog on weapon choice And Bill diversity.

1 ReplyHonestly, I think the best part of the story this season was the Nezarec reveal.

1 ReplyEdited by WhiteInk47: 11/9/2022 3:24:13 AMI agree w/ this sentiment with the caveat that fair criticism should be fine. I do think though a lot of people will take in the negativity they see on social media and have it affect their experience when it shouldn’t necessarily - so I agree there. Respect others opinions (if they’re being respectful) but don’t let it influence your enjoyment. Edit: There are definitely plenty of very fair critiques floating around though, and I think despite me not feeling the burnout like others are - those fair critiques do help Bungie

6 RepliesBut I get kicked from the fire team. They asked me to use arbalest and an unstoppable weapon instead of two side arms for the Kings Fall raid.
-
6 RepliesPlay the game if you enjoy it and ignore the peanut gallery and in particularly on these forums. Many of the players that post here aren’t rooted in any type of reality or are players that haven’t played in a long time and have the extra time to post about a game they don’t play. I enjoy the game and have no issues paying for the content. Certain things need to be improved but that’s the case with any massive game.

1 ReplyBeen playing since D1 beta and I’ll most likely keep playing until the game is at end of support. I usually stay on one class and sub class for awhile and change it up to keep things fresh with new builds etc. when pve is dry I’ll just chill in crucible pubs and have fun there. That being said I am waiting on some competition so I can test other games. I actually had fun with the first descendant once I got to higher levels and with different characters. Hopefully Matter is a looter shooter and better than destiny.

Their nothing wrong with destiny it's just a -blam!- live as a service the seasonal stories can be completed in a couple hours each time if you do it all at once and whatever dungeon or raid is the new flavour of the season and that's it for 10 plus weeks
-
Behave like a sociopath, yes
-
I’m a Warlock main, I only play warlock and I’m not interested in the other classes. If I listened to what other people said I would never play the game because every update I’ve been told the class is -blam!- despite it being blatantly untrue. If I followed what popular streamers do I would only play Arc Titan with Heart of Inmost Light and storm grenades because that is what the majority of them do. This isn’t a shot at Titans but I can’t think of how many times this season I’ve loaded up a video and groaned because it’s this setup. If you can’t play a game how you want to then how do you function as an adult seeing as though you can’t do the most basic things on your own.
-
This game is like a completely different game without social media involvement. It's probably time for me to disappear for another year or so myself. I've never thought my opinions influenced the game that much anyway, so forum browsing feels like more of a waste than knocking out all the daily bounties...

9 RepliesI play for a couple reasons but the power level grind is stupid. The seasonal model is good in theory but the gatekeeping is ridiculous and petty. Can’t say much about this season because.. pirates?.. the seasons should progress the DLC’s story until the next DLC (at which point the story culminates into the next DLC). Bungie has never been even OK at storytelling though so I can understand their lackluster performances in that regard, but nightmares and pirates? No. Copy and paste events? No. Ridiculous grinds for meaningless titles? No. I’ll still play and I’ll probably buy the DLC but let’s just say that I’m not going to be hyping this game to anyone.
