Skillbased matchmaking is overall a good thing

I've noticed quite a few players, who are skilled them selves, complaining about skill based match making because they "Just want a laid back pvp experience". This is code for "stomp guys with half their KD" quite often. They complain when they have to fight people at their level instead of guys they can smash into the ground and say they "dont want to sweat so hard in crucible" . After the "easy/laid back matches" they often laugh at how "trash" or "bad" their enemies are after the fights too. It's just like someone who's a skilled college basketball player (Good, but not quite pro, just like the skilled guys complaining about even fights) going to the park and stomping on middle aged guys who barley play then calling them trash after kicking their asses and laughing at them. It's not a good thing and shouldn't be encouraged. It's called bad sportsmanship. Highest Glory I've ever gotten to was 4700-4800ish or so. I get paired against people with 4000-5500 glory based on skill based match making. Sometimes some Unbrokens. My KD isnt great. I enjoy skill based match making however. It puts me against people at my level or so most of the time, or a bit above my level when I fight the unbroken guys. Then I have a chance to get better too. Games are challenging usually, and require effort to complete. I do well often, sometimes I have bad games sometimes i have good games. I would rather fight guys at 5500 and have a challenge then just curb stomp guys who struggle to stay positive in every game. I don't think the players are being genuine when they say they "just want to relax and have a laid back time" when they pvp. They really want to get a 5.0 KD stomping guys who are not as good at the game as them. If they genuinely wanted to relax and mess around, they could go into a private match with friends or people from LFG and set up some custom fun rules and have a good time. Most just want an easy 5.0 KD and an easy top of the scoreboard in a playlist game. The only problem I see with skill based match making is when it puts 1-2 guys who are Unbroken and top tier, with 4-5 guys who aren't so good at pvp to balance out overall skill points/ELO or whatever against a team full of above average guys who aren't quite at unbroken level. Then it sucks for the team with 2 highly skilled players since they all have a crappy time getting smashed since the 2 guys can't carry through all the feeding. It'd be better if they put people of all similar skill levels together not averaging the skill of the entire team.

I think both sides have a point. Bungie should give the TTP a break, man. Sometimes you just want to go into the Crucible and mess around and top tier players argument is, that they cant do that any longer. Every game is a slugfest for basically, nothing. Maybe there should be a cutoff for who's eligible for SBMM or not.
