Ban quitters from comp

I am so tired of teammates rage quitting in comp and they don’t get punished start the ban hammer for the love of god.

  • My son and I played a match yesterday where our teammate quit after getting killed in the first 20 seconds. Aside from starting the match down a player, that’s the quickest quit I’ve come across. He got killed and noped out immediately.

  • If someone rage quits, they're doing it because they're getting stomped and are inferior to the opposing team. They wouldn't do it if they're doing well, right? So do you think you'd win if they stick around?

  • I actually like it when a horrible teammates leaves because then i actually get to respawn and if 2 teammates leave then im guaranteed to win.

    • I hate this too. But, last Sunday, my husband and I were playing a comp match and quickly had to evacuate because of a tornado that was approaching our area. We had no choice but to leave the match. Luckily, our place, animals, and us are ok. I tried to find and message our teammate but couldn’t. People who habitually quit need banning, but there are circumstances that people have no control over.

      • I think if you can trace back habitual quitters, their Glory should be not only reset to zero at say 3 quits, but they should go negative 2000 points, and or have their pinnacles/quests disabled/reset back to start. Yeah, work your way out of that hole, then try not to be a sore loser next time. The return to orbit feature should also be disabled in Survival. Gears 5 is handling quitters properly, then when people complained, they were told, "ok you get 1 more chance, but its permanent after that". Bungie could learn from this.

If people are leaving on your team it means your not a good player and they can’t carry the game. 😢

        • Bad idea since bungie cannot figure out who lost connection from ddoser to people who just quit.

          • comp needs serious penalty for leaving matches and should also have a vote kick system if you have a teammate who is throwing on purpose but idk how that would work since it would be 2-1 and you could grief people with it. Maybe only in freelance.

          • At least they quit. I played with a kid last night that repeatedly jumped off the map at the start of every round and wasted all our lives

            • I just finished a match where the other team had someone quit. It sucks. I’ve been on the team that’s been short-handed and it really is unfortunate that people can’t see things through. I’ve been on many teams that go down three rounds and make a comeback for the win. Sometimes it takes time to find a groove with teammates.

              • They already do. If I feel like I'm going to lose a match of comp, I usually dip out. If it happens twice more, I get suspended. During that time I usually find something else to do, then come back and do it all over again. It's a time consuming system, but it works.

              • The problem is Bungie can’t tell the difference between a player quitting and a player getting dropped or booted from a match.

              • Slippery slope. What about a legitimate cause like an internet outage? Should those players be banned as well?
I am so tired of teammates rage quitting in comp and they don’t get punished start the ban hammer for the love of god.
That would be great. Along with adding safeguards to your glory if people quit. Bonus if you actually pull it off. I think if you do a 2v3 or 1v3 you should receive an instant 500 glory upon winning. Edit: This could be abused. Maybe a bad idea. Sadly

                • That's because comp is sometimes frustrating, a lot of people been complaining about it, the glory leveling and all...it kinda leads to that i think

                • Just give the people who quit out a 30 minute debuff. Obvs it will suck if you lose connection but cant win them all.

                  • if Bungie did that they would only have a handful of players in comp. Bungie needs the quitters/cheaters/paid carries to keep the numbers up so it looks like the game is popular.

                    • It is relatively easy, from a programming perspective, to detect a rage quit (at least on PC.) It doesn't even need to be reported back to the server immediately, it can easily be recorded in Steam local storage and reported the next time the player goes online from that machine. They would have to either crash the game somehow, or literally pull the plug on their PC, to circumvent it. Doable, but dangerous. There are other, less dangerous workarounds, but those are quite inconvenient and/or time consuming. The average Alt-F4 sore loser could be caught red-handed by some relatively simple code.
