Like seriously.
I’m liking a lot of the new content that’s been added but the story is god awful and the way they completely wasted Nokris (a character with a shit ton of potential that could have a game or massive dlc around him)is honestly ridiculous, and this wasn’t the first time we got a shit story and it’s definitely not going to be the last.
So could we get a better narrative team? Or at the very least set the quality level a lot higher than it currently is.
Edit: Damn we’re trending. Honestly I’m not surprised. Even we get to like a million upvotes I’m pretty sure bungie wouldn’t notice this post or even care.

Why is Nokris the super mysterious statue in the Dreadnaught when he has a cameo for 5 minutes from out of nowhere? How does Ana know she’s a Bray? Is my Guardian a Bray? How did Xol get on Mars? Why is my Guardian still mute? Who is Elsie Bray? Where is Eris? Why was Zavala in the Warmind lab before us? Oryx killed Akka and became Taken King. My Guardian killed Xol and became “melee king”? (Titan exotic gauntlets)

2 Replies"We're a team now. A good one." God damn. Even Twilight told a better story than that.

1 ReplyI bet this post hurt those writers. Think about others feeling guys....😈😈

42 RepliesSo many spoilers coming. “We got this” You don’t like the story of a defiant girl and her equally “I don’t play by the rules” robot? Whaaaaat? Zavala is all “SUH-PRIZE MUTHA-blam!-A” Ana Bray is all, “I’m a strong independent woman, plz help.” But Nokris is all “hello, I’m here for some reason. you thought I was a great mystery because of my statue in D1, but in reality you were all using your imagination more effectively than Bungie.” Then, Xol is up in your bizness like “I want to kill Rasputin because plot reasons!” Then Zavala is like “I hate this, but I’m okay with it because conflict resolution reasons!” Warmind is all, “I hate you dad, I can’t wait to move out of this house.” Fin. Good shit.

It's as if they give all of the meaty material into the lore tab and salt the ingame with a sprinkle of depth, expecting us to dive down a rabbit hole that gets closed up and forgot by the writers anyways in the next DLC. C'Mon Man!

1 ReplyI surprise myself by how many times I roll my eyes watching this game's cutscenes. You are absolutely right - everyone responsible for story and dialogue at Bungie are leagues behind the norm of the AAA industry. It's really shameful. But it extends to the mission designers as well. The narrative team can't just implement any crazy thing their imaginations come up with, since the designers seem to barely be able to scrape together a map and put three waves of enemies on it. I'm not trying to exaggerate - Bungie still seems, again, years behind the competition in terms of mission structure and setpiece design. But at the very least, it would seem that the writers could craft clever dialogue that would compensate for uninspired story and mission design. Tarantino as an example can craft whole scenes around useless conversations about tipping or foot massages. The Taken King (incorrectly) taught Bungie that a character quipping in every situation is tantamount to characterization, and now we have a host of stoic, boring characters mixed with a pile of inane, awkward jokesters. It sucks.

1 Reply-blam!- the narrative team. -blam!- a story. Just give me loot, raids, strikes, and cool puzzles to solve and lots of killing shit. These -blam!-ing planets have nothing to do on them. I feel that they area dead the minute I get there. Enemies that run from you and don't kill you. I hate public events. They are an artificial way of getting us to go to these stupid places. Bungie is a dinosaur: a obsolete game developer that should have there game given to better people to develop.

Note to moderator,we are watching not playing

15 RepliesWhat surprises me is that everyone but me seems fine with our Guardian being totally mute, and therefore having the emotional depth of a brick wall. Am I the only one who's appalled that so-called professionals came up with that idea?

Short answer: No. Long Answer: Bungoe is intentionally trying to kill the Destiny franchise. They dont want anyone with cognitive abilities to enjoy or play the game. They want the lowest common denominator, they want the unthinking, they want the impulsive.... they want 12 year olds as their customer. They dont care that Destiny was supposed to be a complex game for adults. They dont want us here. TlDr: No.

Its a disgrace how the potential of destiny lore is wasted game after game, DLC after DLC. I wonder how bungie employees feel when they play games such as God of War. I even wonder more if the narrative team even play other games which a decent story telling.

19 RepliesEdited by SlyRawnic: 5/9/2018 7:24:06 PMSeriously. We had to go to Oryx’s and Crota’s throne rooms/realms to permanently kill them, but we can kill Nokris like we did Ghaul? And we can kill a fucking worm god with a spear/javelin thing?

I have been stating similar since the release of D2 and going through that god awful story, Juvenile characters and one note everything. This guy is bad kill him oh he has daddy issues. Christine Thompson is a garbage Narrative Director and the entire writing team should be ashamed. Is this really the studio that gave us Halo 2? Everything is a half baked idea that seems to just be off the idea table given a few paragraphs of thought (one time) and they go with that. Ever since Joseph Staten left the writing has pretty much been trash. There is no sense of urgency there is no betrayal no not really my enemy but trying to help no guardians falling from the light or anything that make the "reader" go Wait what?

3 RepliesThis is it for the majority who bought the “season pass” along with the main game back last year, never will I give these devious bastards another coin, just watch as the Bumgie/Activision marketing goes into overdrive over the summer telling you they gonna make the game feel like D1 again (they gonna revert back what they took out in the 1st place) and off we go to another poxy location to kill “another GOD” which you can kill with any gun you casuals choose! Bollocks to that
-
4 RepliesOne of the lead writers, and by far the weakest of them all, even being fired by DC Comics for ruining Wonder Woman, is the sister of an Activision CEO, so... fat chance

4 RepliesNokris...Son of Oryx, Brother or Crota...is a 2 minute mini boss? Xol...worm GOD...is a 5 minute story boss? This guy was more entertaining in tremors! Does the current narrative team read the lore from D1, or are they just using it as digital toilet paper! Bungie, the Destiny franchise has brought me more entertainment than any other video game in recent memory. I play frequently, and have made a whole new group of friends through playing the game. I was ok with the D1 grind, and I was ok D2 casual play...but I am getting tired of this DLC lack of content BS. I didn't even get 2 hours out of the story mode, and as far as I can tell you didn't really use any of the established lore except to name enemy models. Nokris should not be a 2 minute fight in the story, especially given the treatment of his father and brother in the lore. Xol should not be a 5 minute fight in the story. According to your lore it's a damned GOD. Rasputin should be more than a rehash of HAL handing you a spear every once and a while. Given the lore surrounding all these characters at least one of them should show up in a raid, and not on the Leviathan. In fact, set that whole raid lair idea down and step away from it slowly. We ran the Leviathan, how about something that's actually new.
-
Agreed. The story is crap, and the dialogue is crap. New writers please. And while you're at it, give us back a voice too.
-
Zavala having a characterization for the first time was cool, except that there is literally no reason for him to act the way he did in this DLC. It's as though I'm playing through fan fiction of a picture book based off of lord of the rings ;(
-
the narrative isn't the problem, the terrible or nonexistent game mechanics are the problem
-
Is anyone actually surprised? At no point, going all the way back to the start, except for maybe The Taken King has the in game storytelling lived up to the lore. All of the best stuff is written in the Grimoire.
-
I agree, Nokris, the worm god, anna brey, and rasputin could have gotten a lot more love in this DLC then they have. Even The Dark Below, and The house of wolves, did a lot better at hyping up the end all target then this did. Not to mention you would think this being a warmind/hive focus we would have recieved some hive related gear too. Honestly would have rather had this as a raid, Nokris as a mid term boss, the worm as a final, and three none story recycled strikes. Maybe a few story missions that take actual use of the fairly useless Lost Sectors?
-
I think you better get used to being let down by wasted potential in characters and the scope of the Destiny world. This game is just a concept too big and awesome for little Bungie to handle. In all honesty, it should belong to Bioware or Blizzard. Even EA would do a better job.
-
This game is set on a predetermined path where the developers have to rush creating DLC's with minimal resources. Expect crap! A worm god! LMAO! You are not worthy to use the term "God" in this trash game bungie! You could never create an adequate resemblance of a God figure in a game like in GOW. This is a shooter game. Focus on making the shooting better and find some quality time to self reflect!
-
a new narrative team, your asking too much ! they can't even make the guardian talk !!!!!
