Wouldn't the Gorgons be Taken?
Look at the Gorgons. Something smells fishy and it's not just the ocean. The Gorgons look Taken. I think the reason why the Gorgons could kill us so easily is because the Traveler wasn't (fully) healing when we first entered VoG. We weren't prepared for Taken. And if you read the Grimoire Card. It says that the Gorgons can see a world after and before. The Gorgons saw the Taken King in the future. The Gorgons (like the Oracles) see a world shaped in the Vex's desire. The Gorgons became Taken so they could kill is with their Gaze. The reason we don't ever see Taken Harpy's now is because the Gorgons were the only ones. Once their plan failed, they decided that Taken Harpy's were not gonna kill us.
But, this is all speculation, theory. Say what you think in the comments.

I've thought this too, not sure tho The harpy argument doesn't make sense tho unless there is a magic king taken dreg somewhere tho, which I would love btw

11 RepliesThat's.... Not how that works. The Vault is based almost entirely on Hive powers the Vex have observed. A pale and fragile farce. Some powers are similar because that's the Vex goal, to create their own Throne World, one where the governing laws of existence are what the Vex want it to be. They choose what can and cannot exist there. The power is incomplete, but it's there.

Did you forget that the Vex have (almost) complete control over the space within the Vault, which even allows them to erase beings within from existence? The Gorgons are simply another Conduit for this power, like the Oracles, Templar, Confluxes and Atheon himself

While they are imperfect even in the vault they can take beings that can't prove they exist. But they do not give them back

Nope, Gorgons are not Taken. They're not even black like the Taken, they just have an odd white glow. If the Gorgons were Taken they would be controlled by Oryx. Harpies cannot be Taken, otherwise we would encounter Taken Harpies. This fact has led us to believe that Harpies are actually machines built by the Vex and do not contain the white radiolarian fluid that is what the Vex really are. This means that the Gorgons and Harpies are creations of the Vex very similar to the Oracles since we already know that Oracles are inorganic creations of the Vex made to help them trace paths through time. If the Vex could build the Oracles, then they can definitely build Harpies and Gorgons

The reason you see no taken Harpies is because they are one of the Vex's purely mechanical units. They do not have a will of their own for Oryx to take.

3 RepliesThe Gorgons have no affiliation with Oryx or taken. They're just designed like that. They are not taken. Gorgons possess the power to decide what is and isn't real in the vault of glass. This is a power that can only be used in the vault of glass, the vex goal was to find a way to use these powers outside the VoG, until we stepped in. Kabr, the titan, forged the relic from a Gorgon an his light, making the VoG defeatable. He gave us the ability to [b]make our own fate.[/b]

I'm not entirely sure if this is true so correct me if I'm wrong but do the harpies even have Vex Mind Fluid? I have never seen any in them and when you kill them there is no splash as the fluid is released. If they don't then that indicates they c ant be taken because they have no organic matter.

Dude , Bungie took the "look" of the gorgons and in designing the taken they decided to use that "look" nothing more.

The gorgons' whips do have a brighter tone. I never would have thought of that!
