I don't mean to "whine" or anything (Can one discuss game balancing in a community as toxic as this without being called a whiner?) but the MIDA seems to outgun almost every other weapon, unless it's fighting a shotgun, sniper, or one of the other meta primaries. This gun rests in a very strange archetype, which means that it shoots faster than a Scout Rifle in the Hung Jury archetype, but still kills in 4 headshots. This means that if one player with a Hung Jury and another with a MIDA were to play perfectly (Hitting only headshots at their weapon's maximum fire rate), the MIDA user would win every single time. Isn't that the very definition of overpowered?
On top of the fire rate to impact ratio that this gun has, it also has 90 aim assistance (The highest out of any scout rifle, making headshots incredibly easy to land), a hidden perk that gives it what is basically an upgraded High Caliber Rounds (Meaning their opponent has even more difficulty hitting the MIDA user), and increased agility while using the gun (I'm not complaining about this part, as I see it as a completely fair and balanced exotic perk, but it's kind of ridiculous that it comes along with every other advantage that this gun provides).
Dictionary Definition of Overpower (First Definition):
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/overpower?s=t
Superior force? Absolutely (As explained above). People often seem to think something has to two-shot like Thorn or melt like the Vex OPclast, but that's not always the case.
Also, to anybody saying that it should be overpowered because it's exotic, here's a quote from Bungie themselves:
Exotic Weapons are designed to look, feel, and sound overpowered. At the same time, they are not supposed to break the balance of the game. We hope these weapons challenge the way players think about their loadouts. Exotics will be a constant work in-progress!
Thanks for Reading.

4 RepliesIt's the most balanced scout in the game. It's just everything else sucks right now.
-
Well I've been able to take it out close-mid range with autorifles or pulse rifles since they're my weapon of choice, but I'll put it out there that those are the distances of choice for my weapon type. Autorifles just don't reach the distances Mida can, so I just stray away from firefights against it then.
-
Just buff other weapons and mida won't seem powerful
-
Isn't it the same as year 1 and nobody had a problem with it then the issue is everything else has been nerfed which is why it's good now. I wonder what gun will be targeted next after everyone gets Mida nerfed.
-
I can outgun the mida with the dead orbit auto rifle
-
To me it being overpowered for the game would mean there is no way to beat it, you said yourself there are ways to beat the mida so it can't be overpowered.
-
A gun that is popular does not mean that it's overpowering. The Mida is fine how it is!

2 RepliesPoll speaks for the majority; it's fine. What does need to happen though? Well, a couple of things: 1. Fusion rifles need the spread of their projectiles to be tighter. Right now unless you're using Plan C, all fast charging fusion rifles are absolutely 100% useless, and slow charging fusion rifles don't have far enough effective range to make them even worth while. 2. Auto rifles need slightly buffed still; the only usable option right now is Doctrine and that's if you're lucky enough to get Counterbalance on it but that is just not good enough. 3. Legendary Handcannons need something to make them competitive, literally any kind of buff at this point. But only legendary Handcannons, not exotics. Just my thoughts, but this is what I think seriously needs to happen.

2 Repliescan we just put the damage for scouts back to their old standard...you know when the mida took 5 shots and more than likely the jade rabbit would take 4
-
Go get the Wolves Leash scout rifle, it fires faster than Mida with better stability, just no innate high caliber rounds.
-
It's fine.

1 ReplyYou speak lots of logic. All the people on the forums don't like that because they need the crutch weapon. There's a reason you see so many full lobbies of multi tool warlock scrubs. Easy mode activated.

3 RepliesHell no. I tested it. Me and my friend stood across from each other and we both shot at each other in the head. Every time, i used a different weapon. Below is the list of weapons I used. Exotics Zhalo supercell Suros regime Tlaloc Fabian strategy Ace of spades The first curse The last word Thorn (he insisted we tried) Bad juju Red death Legendaries Not like the others Doctrine of passing Last extremity Hung jury sr4 Byronic hero Questing beast Smite of merain Zahoulis bane Anguish of drystan Paleocontact JPK-43 Apple of discord Hawksaw TEST RESULTS We wanted to make sure everything was fair. So we ran a few tests. None of these weapons were upgraded at all, and we did not use any armor perks. Below is the list that the MIDA Lost against when most shots were headshots. To certify that the mida was better, 3 ranges were conducted. 10 feet, 25 feet, and 50 feet. A "win" means that the mida won at least 2 times per all 3 ranges. If you dont understand how classifying a win works, here is a simplified version. Start at 10ft apart. If mida dies first, mida looses that round. Now go to 25ft. If mida dies, the mida has lost 2/3 rounds, and so we say that the other gun has beaten the mida. If the mida WINS 2/3 rounds, the mida is better than the weapon being tested, and counted as a win for the mida. GUNS THE MIDA LOST TO Zhalo supercell Suros regime Tlaloc Fabian strategy Thorn Bad juju Red death Not like the others Doctrine of passing Hung jury sr4 Hawksaw TEST 2 This test was conducted when all weapons were fully upgraded. We chose the perks to benefit the gun in this order. Impact Stability Rate of fire Range Reload Meaning, that if there is a perk that can benefit a stat, we will choose the one that is higher up on the list. Once all the guns were upgraded, here is the list that BEAT the mida. Zhalo supercell Suros regime Tlaloc The first curse The last word Thorn Bad juju Red death Not like the others Doctrine of passing Last extremity Hung jury sr4 Smite of merain Apple of discord Hawksaw So there you go. TL;DR The guns below can beat the MIDA Zhalo supercell Suros regime Tlaloc The first curse The last word Thorn Bad juju Red death Not like the others Doctrine of passing Last extremity Hung jury sr4 Smite of merain Apple of discord Hawksaw

Tried it for a week straight, went right back to pulses. Those kill in 3 or 4 trigger pulls also. In your defense I am not a all headshot guy lol
-
I love Mida before it was in the meta, happy it's getting its due
-
Look there are plenty games were everyone has the same weapon, and I'm not trying to be mean, but why don't you play one of those. Everyone cries for balance but in a game with many guns and many random perks it's just not possible.
-
2 RepliesIt might be op in comparison. Imo mida should be the target area for all weapons when it comes to time to kill.
-
After looking at his stats he is just mad that his shotguns and handcannons are getting outgunned
-
Nah they just need to buff Pulses in the mid range
-
It honestly is. I was using it on memento and was ADSing and strafing left and right will shooting.... Out gunned a quillums terminus and 3 shot gunners. Don't believe me? Check out one of my more recent captures on xbone
-
People who say theres nothing wrong with mida are wrong. If it were made a 5 shot headshot it would be balanced. Thats all it takes
-
3 RepliesThere is a legendary crucible drop... with the same impact, grossly faster RoF and higher stability and Range...
-
7 RepliesIt's not op just why does everybody use it
-
First, your wrong. There's a whole archetype based on MIDA. It's the only one in ttk, but crypt dweller is a thing. There's tons of scouts just like it. They're marginally more effctive Second, it's .9 v .93. That's a rounding error, not game-breaking power. Finally, some perspective. That's the same effect as if MIDA had glass half full, which the smarter people know is borderline useless. If they changed the rate of fire on MIDA and added glass half full as a hidden exotic perk, no one would care.
