So, I just started playing on XBox 360 and I'm a level 27 (got lucky with a blue engram & it turned purple). A few days ago, I tried my hand at Crucible. Well, trying to make new friends, I had the "manually opt-in when solo" option for team chat on and then everyone else on the team also joined team chat because they were in a fireteam. Probably because I'm a girl. -_-; So I'm not the best PvPer. The heavy drops, enemies were coming but they were screaming at me to wait. I couldn't wait because three of the enemies had supers. So I took it and died right afterwards. They were like, "I hope you choke on a dick and die, you c*nt." Then, I started getting kill after kill. "Stop stealing the kills! I wish I could kick you from the game & in real life." I ended up on top of the leaderboards because the rest of my team was awful. But the worst one: "I hope you get ovarian cancer and are never able to have children so they don't turn out as ugly and awful you are."
I left the team channel and started to cry because I actually can't have kids. ):
Edit: I did not create this post for attention, I am not lying about it, I reported every single one of them to Microsoft. Oh, and another thing: to those of you who were sad to hear my story, thanks for your condolences. The rest of you who are just here calling me an attention whore, you can STFU because I just wanted to share my story and did not expect to get this many responses - good and bad. I learned my lesson. No more team chat for me.

FINAL EDIT: I don't want empathy or sympathy and I am aware that guys get trash talked to them too. I just wanted to address the situation I was in. I needed to vent. I made a mistake by not muting my mic or just leaving the team chat, like everyone has so rudely suggested and calling me names because I failed to do it. I was not thinking due to the tears in my eyes and trying to keep my composure.

I'm sorry for what happened to you but remember what comes around goes around and those little pricks will get theirs in one form or another. A lot of these hard core gamers never really lived a real life, never thrown a single punch, and never faced any real adversity in their little meaningless lives. We are all not bad people in the Destiny Community and so don't shut off the mic permanently, there are good descent people out there.

1st off , welcome to the internet ;) 2ndly , the kind of conversation you will find in the crucible features a lot of angry fists and tiny dancers that love blasting each other with space-magic ( each to their own ) out in the wilds of our patrol zones is where the lore-masters and explorers reside , sometimes they/we hang out in the tower and will take you along for a raid or 2 if you approach them correctly . don't give up on team chat because a bunch of self-intitled brats with 0 experience in basic social skills .

2 RepliesI haven't had anyone be outright mean to me like that(in destiny...can't say the same for halo...I have many stories like that for halo) but I've had a lot of people ask me really personal questions and basically sexualy harass me to the point that I've had to block them. Multiple times. It's super -blam!-ing annoying. :/

1 ReplyIt's a shame when team chat turns out like this. I like having the option of public team chat but the Destiny community is one of the worst for any game I've been into long term. I think you did the right thing with the heavy ammo, they should have been there. I wait if people are close and clearly coming and no enemies are close by but I will pick it up if there is an enemy. If people don't like it then they can either be at the heavy ammo drop on time or blame Bungie for the poor way heavy ammo is managed.

In fact, I'd be honored if anyone who sees this and feels that treating others so poorly is absolutely unacceptable. The only requirement is that you treat others both on the forums and in-game with the honor and respect that we all deserve. Anyone can join regardless of console as well. Every game has these kinda of people just like everywhere in real life these people exist. They're just generally less open about it when it's face to face. But anyway, don't let it get you down or keep you from using team chat and making friends because the reality is, if you keep at it you may just make a couple real friends. Someday you may even hang out with your real internet friends outside of a game and that would be rather cool. People will always talk trash without thought or care of what it does to others because it makes them feel better about themselves. What you did as a female being better than them was make them feel inferior as males and they tried to show domination over you with that talk. It's animalistic psychology and it goes to show humans have a long way to go before we're worth calling ourselves civilized. Just have to learn to ignore it and continue to wreck house and make friends with decent humans online instead of conversing with that kind of sad excuse for people.
