My State Of The Joke commentary

Well..... Nobody can deny...... That was certainly a blog. My favorite parts include:
Delivering ritual armor sets at the rates we have in the past has become increasingly challenging, especially considering these sets have historically had very low adoption by players as both base armor and cosmetic ornaments.
Now, I wonder..... why would something COSMETIC generally have a low adoption rate? I guess we'll need the next Sherlock Holmes to figure that out. I think perhaps Bungie should launch a full scale investigation as to why the Eververse sets have such higher adoption rates. Throw all their resources behind this enigma.
The most frequent feedback we see is that there is just not enough new PvP content, specifically new maps. To set expectations, our studio structure is built to support more overarching updates to PvP like the ones above, rather than focusing exclusively on maps. When we do focus our resources on building new Crucible maps, it comes with the tradeoff of multiple teams' bandwidth on work that contributes to a variety of experiences that players also hold dear, such as new story or Exotic mission content, core activities that make up the foundation of each Season, or new destinations. Similarly, bringing back reprised maps also involves extensive porting to the latest version of Destiny 2, which requires additional resources to ensure the maps work correctly for multiple game modes and play styles for years to come.
TL;DR Lul at your PvP maps.
As many of you have noticed, we’ve been quiet on Gambit since last year’s overhaul that launched alongside The Witch Queen. In that revamp, the team made significant changes across five categories in Gambit: core activity fundamentals, Primeval tuning, invasions, ammo economy, and rewards. Unfortunately, these updates didn’t move the needle for player engagement. Although we know our Gambit fans mostly care about new or returning maps, this is an area of the game with lower engagement that would take resources away from more popular parts of the game to shore up.
-blam!- Gambit in particular. You don't have to play Gambit anymore.
The Vanguard playlists are currently in a solid place with a healthy population, and we have more new additions coming up. First up: Vanguard Medals.
Something something, team bandwidth, something something tradeoff. Since strikes have such a healthy population already, here's another way to make you needlessly compete against each other when running them. The dev time/resources spent on developing something redundant was a much better investment than increasing the bandwidth for Crucible and Gambit. I would quote the bits about PvP Matchmaking improvements and BattlEye for sarcastic commentary, but I think everyone already knows that's a nothingburger. TL;DR The state of the game is dire. 1/10 Edit: Updated the title to something more fitting.

Gotta be the worst, most excuse filled article any game developer or studio has ever put out. Title should be: “Making Stuff is Hard - Unless It Goes Into Eververse”

I like that they basically admitted they don’t have an actual PvP team. If you’re pulling people off exotic missions and other PvE content, that they most likely don’t want to stop working in to begin with, to build your PvP content, it’s no wonder it so bad and neglected. PvP: 1 new map and 2 new modes that probably won’t even function well. Gambit: Bringing back an old map at some point and then killing the only reason to have played it. Vanguard: We’re not making actual strikes anymore but just reusing old seasonal content to makeshift into one. Looks like the core playlist will continue to suffer into the last expansion and beyond.

      • Everything just further confirms that Bungie doesn't care about D2 anymore. Making Ritual armor is hard, but they're willing to pump out Eververse armor every season. The first new Crucible map in years is going to be in the Vex network, one of the most boring, lazy, uninspiring locations ever. Instead of new Strikes they're focusing more on Battlegrounds, because the two we've gotten as GMs so far have clearly been a hit with the community. And Gambit. They straight up said we're not doing anything with Gambit, except bringing back one old map. Just take Gambit out of the game at this point. What a joke. As if community morale couldn't get any lower, we get this slap in the face.

People have been begging for core playlist updates since they gutted them and removed 12 pvp maps, multiple strikes and multiple gambit maps with beyond light. 3 years later and many, ‘we hear you’…. We arrive at yet another state of the game with 6000 words and all they can say with regards to pvp is ‘oh you want maps? Yeah we removed 12 but here have cidadel back from 4 years ago that you have played 1000 times already, we already announced its return 11 months ago but its all we have for you. And big news, we have a new vex map that we announced a year ago too. How the hell is citadel returning and a single new map across 2 whole years worthy of double announcements when 12 maps got removed. Gambit regressed so much that theyre leaving it dead. Strikes lol Im so glad i stopped playing this game, had to come back and see what others said about this state of the game. They used to drop new pve content and multiple pvp maps for less cost. Now we pay more for less. Go figure

          • The best part of the game should be it’s Core Playlist activities. NOT THE SEASONAL ACTIVITIES. Get your -blam!- together Bungie.

            • PvP players can't get new maps, but they can commend other players for how well they're dressed. Priorities.

                • Community: we want new maps for Crucible and Gambit and new strikes. Bungie: look, now you can favorite shaders! Here is what I really don't understand. I repeatedly hear comments about how making new Crucible maps is expensive. Now I don't know the breakdown on how much of the population is PvE vs. PvP but I do know that the Crucible crowd pays for the game just like the PvE crowd. Why doesn't that money translate into the content they want? And is that lack of support further causing the Crucible population to decline? Is it another ploy by Bungie to get PvP players off Destiny and get them to buy Marathon? I feel like this State of Destiny didn't address any community concerns and just ran over talking points. Bungie is the same corporate nightmare as Activision, EA and the rest in my book at this point. All the talk about treating people fairly and being good humans but rotten corporate hulk to the core.

                    • Well said 👍 Sorry, I could only give you one thumbs up, as my other one is typing this reply. You’ll understand, it’s a trade off in resource management. Basically, it read as, if people keep playing gambit, then sometime during FS we will update it. Otherwise we are getting ready to delete it altogether. Also PvP: well we would like to update, so here’s two new game modes that at least for a season will only be in Labs. Maybe they will make it into the game full time, if they do well enough. Other resources will be put into other parts of the game. So we can’t really focus on PvP right now. 🙄
