If champions won’t be removed then at least give us mods to help us fight them

Give us weapon mods that go something like: “This weapon deals double damage towards stunned champions” “This weapon significantly slows down the movement speed of champions” “Stunning a champion immediately reloads your weapon with a bigger magazine” Armor mods can help too: “Standing nearby overload champions significantly reduces the number teleports they make” “Take reduced damage from champions and gain an over-shield when you stun one” “Increases the duration of how long a champion stays stunned” “Unstoppable champions deal significantly less melee damage towards you” “Anti-Barrier Champions have reduced shield health when standing near one” There’s so many different ways you can make fighting champions less of a hassle and this can be one of them. Ever since they were introduced in Shadowkeep, champions have done nothing beneficial or interesting to the sandbox and the in game difficulty. They are clearly meant to be inserted into activities that don’t necessarily need them to become more difficult and are used as means to artificially increase the difficulty. Not to mention they force the player to use load-outs and weapons they don’t want to use or simply just don’t care enough to use. Champions can either be difficult to deal with or challenging to deal with, the difference being is that when something is difficult it’s nothing but a nuisance and a pain in the you know where to deal with, but when something is challenging, like the WQ campaign, it gives us that fun factor that champions completely lack.

  • How to kill champions Step 1- stun Step 2- fire 2 Gjallarhorn shots Step 3- clean up champion with weapon used to stun if Gjallarhorn didn’t kill them.

  • They literally get stunned… frozen in place…. If you can’t deal with a stationary target quickly enough that’s your issue I am afraid

  • AB and Unstop are fine. Overloads are the problem. I believe overload bows should be a thing every season until Bungie finds a fix to their convoluted mechanics. I also think AB snipers should be a thing too since double primaries is not the way this game should play in high end content and since they’re about to nerf arbalest.

    • champion mods should go on the weapons and not take up space on the gauntlets it limits the builds you can take into higher level content. Add an extra mod slot on all weapons specifically for champion mods.

        • Just rework them completely so we don’t have to use anymore mods to fight against them. So now you want mods so we can spec into killing champs more effectively? I get build diversity but this ain’t it chief lol

        • I agree more ways to fight them would be great, I disagree that more armor mods are the answer. Armor is too clogged up. That issue was brought to a head when they put orb generation from weapons into armor mods. There's simply too much happening with armor. Ghost mods are almost entirely worthless so we should start putting mods there instead.

        • They're not even difficult. It's just all the bullshit that goes with them. Buggy overload captains, -blam!- mods like overload AR/SMG. Also the boring forced loadouts. You're essentially just running double primaries all the time.

        • I'm sorry but champs are one of the best things added to D2 and if you can't deal with them that's a skill issue not a game issue. Champs are so easy to deal with even in GM's and the hardest are overloads simply because of how quick they can regen health but that's the point it makes them priority and means players like you can't just sit and hide somewhere while your teammates deal with them. A champ takes three seconds to stun even overload and five seconds to kill why are you moaning? We don't need mods to make it easier to kill them because they already are easy to kill. Lord help if you ever actually did a GM for once. You'd have a breakdown, stop crying for them to be removed or made easier and get good and kill them faster and stop spraying them with a sub after stunning them.

          • Personally I'd love to just do away with the specific weapon mods every season. For example, I can use pulse rifles. I'm quite proficient in using them. Outbreak has been a fave since RoI. I have many god roll pulse rifles in my Vault. But I find them mostly boring save for the exotics pulse rifles. Seasons where they're the only option for certain champions is just an annoying inconvenience. Insert your least fave weapon type(s) and it still holds true for each player. I miss just collecting handcannons, snipers, and rockets like in D1. Now I have to collect god rolls that may or may not see the light of day just because I don't know when Bungie is going to go off the deep end that season and make us fight Barrier champs with sidearms or something. Champs are a big contributor to wasted Vault space and I will die on that hill.

            • I keep seeing people say this term, “artificial difficulty.” What does that mean? What would be an example of real difficulty? I’ve had this discussion before, so in brief: there are people that hate every type of “difficulty” in the game, so not everyone is going to be satisfied. Ever. Some hate champs, some hate mechanics, some hate high HP bosses (“bullet sponges”), some hate match game, some hate timers, some hate contest mode. Figure out what you don’t hate and play those activities more often, might improve your experience.

              • Just chiming in (again) to say I hate the champions mechanics. Restrictive artificial difficulty. End story. Also, the legendary campaign of WQ showed that we could have end game level content without champions. It was amazing being able to choose my loadout and approach the engagement how I wanted. I don’t bother playing the story versions except for the triumph because of champions.

                I played D1 and quit D2 around Warmind, and came back again in April. I love most changes they did to the game besides 1. Champs 2. Removing old content (there was a raid set in the city and I can't experience it, want to explore the city since D1.) 3. Matching Shield Modifier on almost all hard difficulty I think it's especially bad this season because the Unstoppable mod forces you to use either Pulse or Handguns. Both of them are very underpowered when it comes to clearing ads. Unless you want to sacrifice your Special ammo to clean mobs (which forces you to use heavy on champs or use primary which will take forever.) Primary ammo weapons are meant for mob clearing as evidenced by their increased dmg against unshielded enemy and the buff Bungie gave Primary exotics against red bar ads. But FORCING you to use two very underpowered gun types for endgame content's just not fun. Even worse when it's Matching Shield... You could have finally break the shield but can't burst the HP down fast enough (because pulse/handgun are just low dps) and watch it regen again when you have to reload.

                You’re asking for Bungie to put in effort to make the game more fun. That’s not going to happen. It’s going to be hilarious when Master King’s Fall releases with garbage champions and terrible loot.

                • I can’t tell if this is a joke but champion mods exist. It’s like the whole point of seasonal mods. Watching people start demanding champions be removed than go through the five stages of grief with zero reaction from bungie is priceless.

                  Just make the mods by: Slots: Kinect, Special, Power, Abilities, Supers Damage Type: Precision, Burst and Oversized Elemental Burns: Arc, Solar, Void and Stasis If Bungie separates the mods by these individual concepts, the game would play better. Season 17 (Example): Kinect and Solar Weapons Anti Barrier Stasis and Special Weapon Damage Unstoppable Power and Void Weapons Overload Melees Anti Barrier Supers and Arc Overload Barrier Grenade Unstoppable

                • Then what would be the point of having the artifact to control what you use? Bungie knows they can be buggy at times. The question should be, why do they keep ignoring the communitys feedback about them and instead of looking for options they just stay silent. Could it be that they don't want to give you other options plain and simple?

                  Champions are just artificial difficulty. For example, there will be a barrier servitor with 10+ enemies in front of him. You start shooting him and then he will teleport behind a wall and start healing. But you cant push and stun him because you will be melted by the adds that are being shielded. Or when the servitor shields an overload captain. 😂

                • I hate to say it but champions are [i]supposed[/i] to be a hassle. That’s literally their sole purpose, to mess you up. I would love it if they were less of a headache but then that would defeat their purpose.
