Just tried to help someone with Thorn Strike and got devastated
repeatedly by Wizards.
I mean im old , but those kill in mere seconds , no time to evade ,
no Ruinous Bubble helps ...
I bailed out , because i do NOT get paid for playing this.
Im thinking about cancelling my preorder of the next expansion.
Because this game defines fun VERY differently than me.
And i know its called ... CHALLENGING by some *********** ...
i call it simply NOT fun AT ALL.
Afterwards i watched a YT Video on how to do it ... was old, but what i got from it
is that you either have to STUDY that godforsaken strike or permadie through it.
Nah , not with me ... ill think thouroughly about if this sh**show is worth playing.
Because challenge can be done differently without killing all fun.
And yes , i know :
get gud.
Im old , i m just average, and if this game is not for me then i guess i have to
foockin pay other games with worse gunplay but TONS of more fun.

You are right. Play Destiny it's way more fun and rewarding, as is Borderlands, Warframe , hell even No Man's Sky is more fun than d2

4 RepliesEdited by BossCharacter: 7/29/2020 4:30:16 PMTotally nothing wrong with figuring out something is not right for you. It’s like when you are dating. You are not always going to find a match no matter how attractive they are. Sometimes you got to find a vibe and when you don’t, on to the next one. No harm, no foul.

Spent 3 hours 2 manning that a couple days ago. Sad part is the annoyance is about same as it was in d1, but it’s harder in d2 and thorn is significantly more lackluster than it was in d1. Difficulty should equate to value of the reward, but I can’t say that is the case with destiny. Destiny seems to just make difficulty seemingly random in many cases. Thorn strike shouldn’t be harder than say pit of heresy imo lol.

14 RepliesEdited by Corrick II: 7/27/2020 7:03:20 PMThe problem I have with a lot of Bungie’s activity design is that their idea of “challenging” is basically “how do I survive the grossly inflated power level of a normally easy-to-deal-with enemy”. All they ever do is pump up the HP and power of things. They don’t design encounters that actually make me think about how to play through it beyond focusing simply on survival and DPS. It would be nice if there were more interesting mechanics than just trying to outgun a OHK bullet sponge.

2 RepliesJust dont go in pvp the ttk in there is less than a second.
-
1 ReplyPlay for F R E E, your frustration and anger will go away. Don't buy another product from Bungie.

To clarify , i bailed because he had to rezz my ass after that Wizard grilled me in 2 or 3 seconds. And AFTER the Rezz the same Wizard needed exactly the same time to do it again ... and i had no chance to run for cover. That i do not call challenging for those that think it is. And yes , i would like it when a good Loadout and knowledge of my Chars skills would suffice to help someone with that Quest. Oh and btw, *i* have Thorn in my Bank ... so strangely that Strike was more manageable with lower Light ! (Else i wouldnt have it ...) Also after some Vids on YT and some comments i guess all you have to do is bunker down in a remote Area and snipe all the Shit in front of that first door. Which is exactly what the STORY of protecting your Ghost while he hacks said door would forbid. In my opinion crap design ... but some of you disagree and thats fine. Hope that guy i abandoned (because i could NOT be any help) found someone more competent than me.

Personally I feel that destiny has shifted over time from fun and rewarding to grindy and challenging. Unfortunately there is seems to be no in between. The menagerie was the last time I feel like the game had a good balance of fun, grind, reward, and challenge
-
I can confirm, the ability spam from these wizards is insane. I quite literally got killed while being revived... my transmat effect wasn't even done before I died again. Bungie loves to watch you struggle in pain and agony
-
3 RepliesBungie relies too much on artificial difficulty resulting in a frustrating time in end game where RNG can kill you.
-
Totally agree. Having challenges to earn things and not getting everything for free sucks.
-
I remember that mission. It's typical of Bungies attitide to challenging content - make everything hit so hard that you get nuked. Same with GM nightfall. Often the only way to overcome it is with very paticular loudouts and strategies. It's pretty lazy design to just slide up the damage numbers but it's what they do. It's like you're this badass, light wielding saviour of the system and you land on a planet and get one shotted by a scion. The weakest enemy you could find and it just killed you. In one shot. Yayyyyyyy - let the challenge begin!

2 RepliesAfter all the BS Bungie gave us in the past year, people are still pre-ordering ? This is why Bungie takes is playerbase as moneybags, for the sake of all players stop pre-ordering, it's a scam. You are litteraly paying for something you haven't seen or tried yet, just because of a flashy trailer. If players want to be heard, they have to protest with their purse, because Bungie doesn't give a s**t about any other argument we may have. For example, as long as sunsetting is in this game in his current form, i'm not buying anything, and I probably will quit for good before they decide to make any change to it, and i think a lot of people are doing the same. Maybe you should consider it too.

F is for fire that burns down the whole town U is for uranium bombs N is for NO SURVIVORS WHEN YOU-

That strike is a tough one. Some things are meant to be challenging, and not all people get to be able to finish everything. You're going to have to learn to deal with that. That being said, practice and a good team can take you a long ways. Good luck.
-
14 RepliesIt’s called challenging. That’s fun for most people.
-
Cool beans.
-
1 ReplyYeah i mean if a game is out of your league or has systems you deem unfun, then yes. Don't sit around continuously playing the game while also simultaneously complaining about it daily. Like in what other aspect of your life would you deal with that? It's -blam!-in mind boggling.
-
Honestly, you sound burnt out bro. I think there are some experiences that are supposed to be very difficult, yet still fun. The thorn strike is pretty tough, since it's all about going through pain and suffering to gain power. You can breeze through it with a good team though. Bungie needs to focus on the fun factor of this game though, esp in PvP. Most of their recent changes have promoted "retention" over fun... even though a really fun game often increases retention.

Edited by s h a k e: 7/28/2020 5:16:44 PMOh its def not worth playing big fella and tbh the only thing about this game that is challenging is trying to get other ppl you play with to cooperate and coordinate
-
Have you tried playing with friends?
-
People have to be bad at games for others to be good at games, unfortunately, you are not good at them, or so it seems. Not an issue with the Destiny 2 at all.
-
3 RepliesSince you mentioned it 3 times... How old are you?
-
4 RepliesGo play dark souls. Then you might get it.
-
Unless you are blind/have health condition its not about being old. That strike is tough. My team and i wiped several times before getting it done. Look up a strat to help your chances. Its not undoable at all. You quit too fast.
