Destiny doesn't respect time investment

Sunsetting gear doesnt encourage me to play the game fir weapons i already have. And no amount if hype will get me excited for fall dlc when i know the story itself will have cuts and information missing just like every other story in d2 I dont want to grind for weapons I already have. I dont want to farm masterwork mats for armor with good stats every season. But i paid for thus year and ill play next season. But im not coming along in fall. I wont have my time investment disrespected by anyone. Edit 1:.i love the conversations and reading the comments. My feedback is based off the fact that im a husband and dad of 4. I work 45 hours a week. With little time in between. Bungie says they want everyone to play. But what little time I cam invest will seem waisted. Cause no matter what i get. It will be obsolete. To me there is no point in collecting new stuff. Or even getting to the power cap. I mean I could showboat the new raid gesr and keep rocking my old stuff for day to day things. But this change is really unmotivating for those with limited time.

Sunsetting would ONLY be ok if loot targeting was a thing, masterworking cost 75% less and xur exotics were guaranteed to be 60+ stats.

  • This is a an argument built on poor foundation as it's time you all chose to put into the game. It'll be the last time I respond to this argumentation because frankly it's redundant.

    • You put in time to grind for gear, and have had A LOT of time to enjoy said gear. How much time is enough for you? Are you saying 1 year is a short amount of time?

They do not even respect your money invested, Paying 10 bucks each season to get new weapons they are now sunsetting, talk about being scammed.

You're 100% correct that this company doesn't respect our time playing that it's been worse in Destiny 2. I expect it to get even worse now that Activision is gone.

                • I agree. I work 70-ish hours a week (depending on how busy the firehouse is for recalls). I used to play every single day, but the grind just became tedious. I realized I’d log on not to play, it to do a checklist (get my bounties done, get my powerful engrams, etc). It slowly went from having fun with friends (used to raid/Sherpa at minimum 12x a week during AoT in D1), to bounty simulator 2020. Guardian Games burned me out and the concept of sun setting just turned me off to the game. I log on for a few hours on Tuesday/Wednesday and just hit my checklist..... and then ignore the game for the rest of the week. It’s not fun anymore. Hasn’t been for a while.

                  • IDK, players demanded gear to chase. I don't know now many times players have complained that Destiny doesn't have a reason to play. And, players demanded more grind. Again, as a 'reason' to play. So, Bungie's solution is to sunset gear and have players grind for new gear. The old adage has never been more true, "Be careful what you wish for. You might just get it." Along with all the demands for nerfing, we did this to ourselves.

                    • somewhere along the way bungie forgot that there's a difference between extra goals you can go for and mandatory chores. In D1. Grinding factions for gear you like, Going for tier 12 gear, Completing a collection of elemental primaries, and many other things like this were OPTIONAL. Take factions for example. There was never a DLC focused around factions. If you didn't want to deal with them you didn't have to. And while factions had some great gear, unique shaders, and helped with the role play people who though they were tedious or boring didn't have to engage with them. In D2 stuff like grinding from level 1 to 25 IS THE CONTENT for a season. Things that would have been side content is now the only thing to do. This gets exhausting even if you like it since it's the only thing to do. Bungie needs to focus on good stories, great raids, making strikes great, and good pvp instead of throwaway stuff like vex offensive, and grinding obelisks.

                    • I agree. I was a hardcore player for so long but then the grind/time invested started to feel less rewarding and not so fun. I invested sooo much time into both D1 and D2 that it pains me to quit a game I loved so much specially now with the sunsetting. The time I put into the game before this will always be the greatest fun I'll remember and I plan to keep it just that a memory so I won't get upset by where this game is going. In the future if this game gets back to it's roots I'll be back but until that happens I'm out. You guardians out there keep up the good fight and I hope you keep having fun. Until next time stay safe and stay cool.

                      • Destiny is the most grinding for the sake of grinding I've ever seen in a game. Spending 3 weeks of hardcore grinding for one level in old school Everquest still felt more rewarding than what there is to show for your work here. There's no growth, just stagnant repetition. After almost six years I'm over it, the gameplay just isn't fun enough to support the weight of the grind anymore.

                      • You havent even invested a year into the game. Stfu. Ive been playing since beta D1 and bought all content. Sunsetting isnt something new. They did it in D1. Its not that serious. Youll get better crap along the way. I hate this topic. Idiots like you should be banned from posting crap that isnt original and has 100s of posts like it.

I did not buy this season pass, bud did buy this season for Trials hype. I’ve noticed with not paying for Dawn I missed out on lots of mats and high armor rolls. It seems a lot of this is through design to get you to pay for content. The problem is I have been buying every content drop since D1 launch. I’m not doing it anymore. If my Groll gear will be unusable in endgame content I guess there’s no reason for me to purchase endgame content. As a pvp main I’ll play regular crucible from time to time but not more Trials, no more IB. Or even no more pve looking for pvp gear. I grind out new gear each season because I like new gear. If anything just sunset the pinnacles and give us 3x new pinnacles each season than let those too be sunset. As it stands now Bungie has sunset my business. I won’t have my time be disrespected.

I completely agree with this post I've put a lot of hours into this since launch minute of D1. I consider myself to be an average player (being 63 and don't have reflexes like I used to) So I have to spend extra time grinding for gear, just to have it nerfed, or sunsetted. Why should I spend time on anything other than random drops. I have spent more time on other games this last 6 months than the the last 5 years together. The only reason I play Destiny 2 now is because my friends are still playing it. If they are not on I see no point in being in game. I want to love this game again but it feels like all the fun is being steadily removed.

As a newer player, my earliest untrusting moment was when Bungie convinced me too spend a crapload of time to make my SPECIAL NEW TO-BE-FIRST-ARMOUR 2.0 be masterworked and glowing. Next season comes around and we all realised that the stats on our amazing new armour were so terrible that they were INSTANTLY worthless. That was the first time I felt these guys were sitting back watching me like I was a mouse on a treadmill. Yes, I still stuck around and last season worked hard for some long-time desires … Mountaintop and Redrix Broadsword. These won't be able to be infused soon … great, thanks. I also am paid up until the end of NEXT season. I can't see myself lasting longer than that unless I feel some form of virtual love.
