Title. Midas rules for like a split second, and still needed teamshots and pure precision ttk, with many weapons still out performing it anywhere from mid to close. 260 scouts are still extremely slow, as well as every other scout. The flinch you receive from literally any gun means if you get shot once, your entire aim will never land a single bullet.
This is pathetic. Scouts are used in less than 25% of any matches on pvp and we all know why.

5 RepliesEdited by RTshadows: 4/23/2020 6:46:21 AMGonna be a pretty unpopular opinion but scouts are fine imo. Despite being precision weapons they’re relatively easy weapons to use. Minimal to pretty much zero recoil, damn near cross map optimal range, large magazine size, and depending on the scout (mida and jade to just name a couple) aim assist/bullet mag is pretty nuts. It’s just the maps. There are very few maps that have long and wide, real open areas for scouts to thrive in. I feel like scouts would be really easy to make too strong which at that point they’d pretty much be hand cannons with zero recoil and damage fall off.

3 RepliesPeople are blaming maps and all that, but i rocked the hell out of scouts y1d2. The issue is that there are better options due to ttk and effective range. Simply make scouts do more to the head and that should fix them
-
1 ReplyThe reply below mentioned that it’s the maps fault. While I do think that’s is true, many people seem to forget how scouts were in D1. At the moment all scouts require an extra body shot in order to get a kill. They should be buffed to their updated D1 values. If that isn’t enough, they could also improve their handling and adjust the zoom levels to make them more flexible.

1 ReplyI despise scout rifle metas. They are kinda boring and thumbless imo. That said, scouts would be in a fine place if they didnt get flinched to hell. They have perfectly reasonable damage values and ttks considering their effective range, the problem is that the second you are within pulse or auto rifle aim, scout rifles take so much incoming flinch that they become nearly unusable on top of having less forgiving precision requirements. Reduce scout rifle incoming flinch and they will be perf.
-
1 ReplyLet them die. I would rather deal with auto rifle spam at mid range, instead of people chilling at the back of the map with scouts and snipers.
-
I would like it if bows were more viable too, there is no reason to ever use them over anything in the game. Scouts are probably more viable than bows
-
Buff skyburners hip fire so it can be fun again
-
I use symmetry surprisingly, the arc seeker mode really comes in handy especially with the unflinching mods. Scouts aren’t necessarily in a bad spot (except the 180 ones), more so the maps that don’t conform to their compatibility.
-
I still use my Purpose scout rifle in pretty much everything. But I also use it with my Le Monarque bow xD

3 Repliesscouts aren't the issue, its the maps.
-
Imo they've been pretty lackluster since launch... the only scout I remember doing work was Mida in PVP.
-
Handcannnons and submachine guns need a buff too
-
Man you get out those light weight frame scouts and look at the crit numbers and think is this a serious thing.... I deleted a great roll on one the other day out of frustration knowing you can't come back from where they are at.
-
Jade rabbit especially on long maps is meta. On midtown or eternity you can legit sit in the back and nobody has a chance at all...
-
To me scouts are fine. Problem is everything else has too quick of ttk times.
-
Edited by llIHAV0C: 4/21/2020 1:00:52 AMThey need to buff them up to D1 damage. How come my scouts did 72 per precision in D1 but 67 in D2? High impact ones anyway.
-
7 RepliesScout rifles are for people who can't snipe, yet still want to sit back and not engage in a gunfight.
-
Scouts are not used as often as Pulses, HC, SMG and now auto's cause they just are not fun to use. All back of the map.. or corridor camping. Once anyone gets close they put you at as disadvantage. Scouts still kill in 3-4 taps .. same as HCs .. just more range.
-
Sorry but I love using Black Scorpion and the Seraph service Revolver in PvP. I think they are good where they are at.
-
They really dont...
-
Edited by AKAdoubleA: 4/20/2020 9:25:35 PMI would suggest just going back to D1. They feel amazing there.
-
2 RepliesAll scout rifle archetypes are killing in the appropriate amount of headshots. I dont know how you would buff scouts outside of altering their rate of fire
-
Why use a scout rifle when snipers are better?
-
people don't use them because most maps are to small for them and people are too stupid to understand effective range
-
Scouts are fine. Only trash can gun in the game are 180 scouts. Everything else has its place. Use Jade Rabbit, NightWatch, P-Lance, Black Scorpion, Mida, Randy’s. Even older scouts like Purpose are still great.
-
I still use Mida. But it's the only scout rifle that I can rely on at this time. Scout Rifles aren't really that bad. The play dynamic changed with the introduction of cqc and low ttk weapons. So, people take advantage of this and just rush all the way. The game should be renamed "Rush" because that is all that's left of this game. The only other weapon type that thrive is the sniper. Some people use snipers very effectively because "rushers" just don't care about positioning because they're too busy aping. So what do you do? If you can't beat them, join them! Right? Well, not so, for a lot of people. And that's the source of frustration. And Bungie could care less.
