As I've been told Military related stuff has to be accepted or ordered by the president himself along with a few others

Edited by Section Ratio General: 1/8/2020 2:48:23 AMJust going to point out that a lot of my friends who are in reserves or veterans really don't want to go back to war, seeing as we're still technically in one. Some of my friends who are active duty are using the WW3 memes as coping mechanisms because a couple of them are scared shitless that they might actually end up getting into an actually WW3. Other than US citizens who seem to be warmongers or support war for any reason, from what I've seen across the political spectrum, going to war with Iran is seen as an extremely unpopular move. It won't sink Trump's popularity with his base because his base is cult-like at this point, but from what I've seen and heard from Dems, Independents, and moderate Republicans, they really don't want another war, given that it might escalate to World War 3.

103 RepliesYes, people can try and justify this but there was no reason to carey this out. The repercussions will be big.

2 RepliesThat general killed many american servicemen and was plotting to kill more. He needed to be eliminated. Iran already hates the United States and was using the general to carry out plots against the US. This will cripple Iran's ability to carry out these plots. I don't see Iran doing anything against the US that they weren't already going to do anyways.

74 RepliesEdited by TheArtist: 1/3/2020 1:08:00 PMActually he inherited the consequences of the Second Gulf War, which was absolutely unnecessary. We've been dragged into a centuries-long conflict between Sunnis (Saudi) and Shi'ites (Iran)....and a bitter ethnic conflict between Arabs and Persians. Because neo-cons acted stupidly without understanding the history of the region, and what was likely to happen in the wake of a weakened Iraq. Saddam Hussein and Iraq had long been a bulwark in the region aganst the spread of Persian influence and Shi'ite fundamentalism via Iran. But in the name of oil profits, we deposed Hussein. Now instead of a unified Iraq opposing Iran....Iraq has descended into Sunni vs Shi'a conflict....and Shi'ites make up the bulk of the population. So we now have a righteous MESS on our hands....and one that WE created because of a corporate resource grab, and Dick Cheney looking to enrich himself and his buddies in the oil business. At this point, I don't see what other option Trump had....other than to withdraw and let the situation descend into further chaos (Kurds, anyone....?) But the -blam!- up that got us here was committed 17 years ago.

55 RepliesHell no. He warned Iran of what would happen if they kept provoking us and it’s refreshing to get to slap those sons of -blam!- back for once. That contractor didn’t die in vain.

18 RepliesI say the President did what needed to be done. Since 1979 Iran has been stirring the pot of hatred against the United States and Israel.

3 RepliesEdited by Iron: 1/5/2020 8:03:53 PMNah, the guy had it coming. There will not be a war, there will be a short conflict ending with Iran being wiped off the face of the earth

Nope that general had it coming.

2 RepliesEdited by LZ2001: 1/3/2020 8:54:58 PMNo Iran attacked our Iraq embassy. That is equivelant to attacking on US soil. It usually is a declaration of war. So Trump was well within his right to retaliate and kill that terrorist.
