Also EA is parading around the corpse of Command & Conquer and acting like nothing happened.

Pull up a chair and I’ll tell you what happened. Command & Conquer was one of the most well known RTS’s back in the day, it competed with the likes of Starcraft. However, the formula that made it great was left behind in favor of a -blam!- hack job to promote it as a esport in order to compete with Starcraft 2. So they tried making a new game with free to play but just did nothing. Needless to say, EA in that pursuit ran the franchise into the ground. Now the only thing they done with it is make into a money hole mobile game.
