During the reveal today bungie stated all pvp modes were going to be 4vs4, while as a diehard halo fan I love 4v4 I don't want it in every playlist.
6vs6 means I can run with more friends and just goof around. Rumble means I can improve my gunskill in the 1vs1 battle that happen. Doubles is usually intense, close matches. 3vs3 shouldn't be forgotten either.
Why would all modes be 4s? Have them at a majority but include a 6vs6, 3vs3, rumble, doubles and maybe even 5vs5.
Or how about multi team? 3 teams of 4, or 4 teams of 3?
I really don't understand why they'd scrap something that worked for D1.
I thought with no old gen we'd even get a 8vs8, certainly not only smaller teams then D1 had.

1 ReplyThe PVP is what broke the game in the first place. All the streamers and pay for carries cried for buffs and nerfs till the game sucked in PVE. I hope this will make the above said group go away and the rest of us can just play.
-
Actually this is really the one thing that interested me about this game.

14 RepliesI haven't played in a while but I watched the reveal last night. Can anyone (intelligently) explain to me why they nerfed secondary weapons? It seems there will be a lot less choice and diversity in the sequel?
-
I am a bot confused by that. Certainly Trials won't be 4v4 right? And now that they are adding a tank, there must be Combined Arms still, right?
-
They're just dong 4v4 to bring back the 'halo glory days'. Sure i understand SOME people wanted this. The problem i have is i don't WANT to play halo 4v4 24/7 in every single playlist if i want to play crucible. If i wanted to play halo 24/7, THEN I WOULD'VE TAKEN MY DESTINY 2 DISK OUT AND PUT MY HALO 5 DISK IN INSTEAD!
-
4 RepliesYeah not sure about 4 v 4 it might be even more campy.
-
3 RepliesWe give you clans to make the experience better with more friends....... So we decided to shrink the amount of friends/clan members you can have in PvP........ Errrrrrr......
-
I like 4v4. But I only speak for myself.
-
I strongly agree. 6v6's are the standard in PvP. Destiny 2 will be excluding some of my friends from my fire team.

1 ReplyI WANT BIG TEAM BATTLE BUNGIE!!! Where are all those iconic and fun to use vehicles that made Halo so fun? Where are the big open maps with tons of vehicles, snipers, and rocket launchers? Griffball? Infection? What the heck guys?
-
1 ReplyAlthough one of my thoughts is 'hell, this means even I can wipe teams with not that much effort. this isn't right.'
-
Should be 4v4 ranked playlist 6v6 social and a Big team battle with huge maps for 8v8
-
4V4 TOTALLY SUCKS BUNGIE, WTF ARE YOU SMOKING.
-
Not gonna happen
-
I am not fan of the 4vs4 much however if they add some interesting modes such (Survival) it could be replacing the fun from 6vs6 control.
-
Agreed. It would be nice to have the option to still run 6v6 in the modes we're used to having.

1 ReplyBump... I think competitive matches is great, but you also don't want every match to feel like you're playing Trials. There are many that don't play Trials because they don't like how competitive it is, or all the seriously sweaty matches, etc. I also wanted to see something regarding a different leveling system for PVP. Light level just doesn't cut it. Light level doesn't tell you anything about another player's level of PVP engagement like how many hours they have put in, their stats, etc. Instead we have to rely on third part sites with bullshit numbers like ELO and things like that. C'mon man... we all know that PVP keeps the game going. Seriously, when the strikes and raid content have all been played and have gone way past stale...what else is there? Bungie would encourage us to play some PVP. I would respond with... "I'm at max light level already, and have had almost every permutation of the guns and gear so what is in PVP for me right now?" I'm not saying we need some kind of prestige system, but if I could look at a player's name or emblem and see that this person is a serious PVP'er, that would be nice. Fix the lag, and the 4v4 all the time...get on it. Thanks
-
I want 12 v 12. But judging by what happened with lag in d1 that's not happening.....

Edited by THUNDERCHILD: 5/19/2017 10:02:26 PMI keep seeing excuses like "but lag" and "but competitive" Dice runs 60+ player matches all the time in different games and on all platforms (i'm not even asking for this level of epic, but seriously, bungie cant even handle 8vs8!?!). If my internet is running properly Ive had zero lag in any of Dices games since just after the launch of bf4 years ago. Why cant bungie devs learn how to make video games too? If lag is seriously an issue with more than 8 player matches theyre obviously doing something very wrong. As for the "but bro, tiny matches are more competitive" excuse, i say this: why the hell cant the try hard sweaty kids have a tiny game mode or two in addition to a wide variety of other "just for fun" pvp modes? I'm 33 years old, im not interested in competition, im just looking to have some pvp fun. ive got pets and squealing kids running around, if i need to go AFK for 45 seconds im not gonna wait for the end of a match, and with tiny player counts that means teammates suffer, i dont want my games to make me feel bad when i play for having to set the controller down from time to time. I genuinly hope the devs "pulled a bungie" and screwed themselves somewhere in development again, and thus had to sacrifice pvp to make the release date. Because if 4vs4 was their original vision for D2, maybe its time for bungie to ride off into the sunset.

Only 3 other people to destroy at a time?..... Better be fixed in dlc
-
Signed, bumped, tickled....whatever it takes to expand the 4v4 pvp announcement.
-
1 ReplyI'm not the greatest fan of this to be honest. I much prefer the idea of 6v6. I will however say this (it's from personal experience): How many people, roughly, do you see red bar on your team or the enemy team? It's 2. Just a thought.
-
-
I prefer 3s. I'll settle for 4s. Just hope weapon balance is handled better.
-
1 ReplyI like 4v4. Please keep it Bungie.
-
I'm pretty sure 6v6 and higher will be added in future expansions, which is good I guess. But for now, it will be interesting how the majority of the playerbase will adapt to a 4v4 environment. Because using your brain in a much more competitive environment will be the standard now and as far as I can tell when playing pubs, people still don't know after all this time when to engage/run away, when to team shot, when to push (pushing the flanks for example) and especially when to try to spawn flip and when not. They will learn it the hard way eventually.
