Twitch should be banned on destiny
Imagine a world without twitch on destiny, players would actually play trials, raid, etc. And not watching what the elite players say about certain set up to what weapons they like to use (mida, last word). Carries would not be what a selling point on here is when trials comes around. The point is twitch streamers changed the landscape on pvp on destiny now. If they didn't exist they would have to get up from their tryhard chair and find a real job. :)

2 RepliesI can imagine this world. It's the world I live in. Granted, I'm an "older" gamer who discovered the Adventure Easter egg back when the 2600 was "de rigeur". I was a kid, but still. I've never understood the appeal of watching others play video games. I've watched videos (raid tips, ghost hunting, that sort of thing) but LIVE? No way. I could care less what streamers think, because I don't think about streamers. Unless I'm planning a party. Streamers make a party seem more, party-ish. But seriously, I think I'm just from a different era in gaming. I bought Destiny the night before the release because my friends were GEEKING about it, and I'm the only one left playing regularly. Because the streamers told them that Destiny was dead. Time gates. Cash walls. Cut content. All that nonsense. Me? I'm just running bounties, doing raids, visiting Xur, and generally having a great time on LFG. For real. I may have even played with some of you fine people reading this now. I like the game. Why would I stop? Because my friends "left"? Because some streamer said some negative things that resonated with them? Eff that. Being older, I don't have the time to perseverate on every statement that Deej makes, or every data mined piece of information on what's to come. I'm generally aware of things, but I have no idea what TripleDog (?) has to say about it. And I don't care. I'm just waiting to hear the patch is done, and I'm off to new things. Sweet.

I admit i do watch twitch while I'm at work but never have I watched another player and copy their methods or weapons. I use what i use because it works for me or I'm experimenting with setups. Like right now I'm trying out Haakon's Hatchet to see if i like it. Just getting tired of pulses and scouts.

I just wish people would pose for me when I shoot at them. Also that my guns dealt 2 thousand time more damage than theirs. Oh yeah and fix my hit detection. One more thing, give everyone else half HP. Yeah, that'd be great.

I'm mainly just tired of all the bads spamming their channel on the forum. If you're good then people will watch you, if you have to spam it it's probably because people don't like watching you fail miserably

With all due respect, this post is idiotic and ridiculous. No one is forcing people to watch twitch, or use certain guns because twitch streamers tell them to. At worst twitch is just a representation of what the persons views on the game are, but that doesn't even mean they are accurate, it's their opinion. If twitch wasn't around there would be other sources to expose the meta and one way or another the OP guns will be used and abused. More sources of information is not the problem. The real problem is people that blindly follow that information as if it's gospel, instead of learning from it and making their own informed decisions. Tl;dr. = info sources aren't stupid, mentally blind people are stupid

People just pay attention to what guns they are getting outgunned by and they learn which guns are stronger in each situation or on each map. After the pulse rifle meta, it was obvious that mida and the last word were strong, because I started loosing gun fights with my hawksaw, gun fights I would have won prior to the last weapons balancing. Shotguns got nerfed, so snipers became the more lethal special weapon. Then the sniper / TLW combo became a thing because you had lethality across every gun range engagement. I'd say 90% of the community don't just use whatever the YouTubers and streamers are using. Hell, 90% of the community don't even watch the streams or the YouTube videos. People play PvP, to win. That is the aim in the crucible, to win. This means it's always going to be sweaty and people are going to go full tryhard. Do you really think people are going to alter away from the meta and put themselves at a disadvantage? No.
