For those of us who have been waiting for a "Season 2 Pass" or announcements of DLC #3 and #4... Apparently it's not happening.
Interview with Derek Carroll from the Live Team here:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-12-08-bungie-talks-destiny-the-taken-kings-event-focused-future
Destiny's first year featured two DLC packs, whereas this year things are different. Can players look forward to any more story content in Year Two?
Derek Carroll: "With Taken King we are moving to a more event-based model - things like Festival of the Lost and Sparrow racing, which is our winter event, and then smaller events such as Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris every weekend.
"Rather than doing these giant, monolithic DLC packs, this way everybody who's an owner of Taken King can enjoy these things."

13 RepliesYou need to edit your post and tell everyone you didn't read the whole article and it clearly state that were are getting events AND "CONTENT THROUGH NEXT YEAR"
-
I don't mind. But forget about last-gen consoles with Destiny 2 then, to finally create the game we wanted.
-
Such crap.
-
Wow I think I am done with this game then.
-
Edited by dunB01: 12/8/2015 5:41:40 PMgutted if that's true ... which it probably is. I love the game and all but festival of the lost vs expanding universe & lore? Just read the article properly. Basically something luke Smith said a while ago rings true.... something along the lines of " a universe you will want to jump into every now and then to see what's new" I guess he's right until D2.
-
Inb4 I told you so when kotaku or polygon reported this in October and everyone laughed and said it was lies. Oh man the irony
-
5 RepliesIs there any mention of new raids being released in year 2?
-
Taking my big break from destiny. "Events" such as sparrow racing and festival of the list can't keep me interested until destiny 2.
-
Bummer. If there is in fact something to do, then thats fine. Festival of the lost? It was a fun thing, but without substance and I was pretty much done with it in a couple of days. Sparrow racing? Probably fun if you enjoy racing but I don't see any longevity in it. I'd much rather take more story content.
-
16 RepliesOK so no dlc but instead of dlc you will still be more content. Don't really see the difference. Either way we are still going to be given content.
-
Yeah pretty annoyed by this choice. I'm all for these free events scattered around, but I will need something with more substance to keep me playing.
-
1 ReplySo in other words they are so behind the 8 ball on destiny 2 they are pulling the plug on anything else they should have been doing to work on that alone. This was well known. That is why this DLC was completely time gated also.

Edited by RavenousLD3341: 12/8/2015 6:03:57 PM
...giant, monolithic DLC packs...
I didn't see any of that
-
10 RepliesEdited by Misfit Romance: 12/8/2015 6:09:21 PMExcept we can't all enjoy these events because Sparrow Racing rewards are paywalled.
-
I would be okay with no DLC in Year 2 as long as Destiny 2 is the main focus of the Dev Team. Let the Live Team run their course this year and let the main focus be on making Destiny 2 be what Destiny 1 could have been and more. It's a worthy trade-off.

Wow when I got the game it was supposed to be a epic 10 years gaming or so they said. Wtf happened? No factions dlc fool me once
-
I get the idea behind that but like... That's not terribly interesting. Seems very novelty and less useful or enjoyable for long periods of time
-
Edited by TheOdyssey96: 12/8/2015 6:45:49 PMWell they better add one. We kinda need some more content. Another raid or something would be perfect. Or at least maybe set up Legacy Raids and let us do the old raids for year 2 loot? I just feel like there's not that much to do right now.
-
It's understandable. The engine that powers destiny is said to be abhorrent. Things that would take minutes or hours to fix takes days and weeks of over time. If they can keep pushing these smaller content updates more frequently I'll happily play until Year 2 as long as they get a more agreeable engine
-
5 bucks they are gonna release a dlc in February maybe march. They want to keep their player base up
-
That's pretty sad, so what they are basically saying is that the 3 week sparrow racing is the winter event so nothing until spring time? Also, the IB and ToO are now considered year 2 filler even though both of these were already out in year one. IB since the queens wrath ended and ToO with HoW. These guys are going to have their work cut out for them then if this is all they are doing for year two. These are not even bandaid fixes. What happened with the vex and cabal expansions showed to go with TTK? Is one or both going to end up being Destiny 2. Why don't they just cut there loses and sever ties until Destiny 2? There is nothing in my opinion to keep people coming back or even to buy destiny at this point. What are they doing?

1 ReplyWhat a -blam!-ing cop out. Bungie what the actual -blam!-. Monolithic dlcs? Your taking the piss right how was the dark below monolithic? If I am met with ninja justice fine. But before I am everyone who reads pass along. Sparrow racing a winter event? You must....... be joking...... Iron banner and trials for 12 months..... again wow.... just...... wow..... I enjoyed festival I will enjoy sparrow racing. Do not feed me some bullshit that this content is enough over new and what should be improved content upon the last Poor form bungie really poor form..
-
They must have agreed to microtransactions in order to break their initial contact with Activision so they could focus on producing Destiny 2.
-
1 ReplyI gotta stop going on these forums.. I love the game and all, but these forums really open my eyes up to realize how awful it is and how much potential it should have. I'll still play the game, but the forums man, they open your eyes.

Edited by DUNNY1981: 12/8/2015 9:30:16 PMSo they have nothing else great. I guess they are saying fu*k you pve players. So pve players are getting nothing. It makes sense the non stop pissing and whinning comes from pvp. So they are trying to keep them happy. Nice one bungie
