Bungie, you're going to nerf Thorn in PVP.
As a player who plays PvP regularly, they will take my opinion seriously. So count on it. I'm not going to throw a bunch of reasons on why it should be nerfed because a lot had already been posted throughout the forum. You see this gun EVERYWHERE in crucible because of the fact that it gives the player a big advantage over other guns. It's definitely not fun to get tracked with poison every single game. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of other annoying things people do in crucible, but this gun is the most annoying thing right now in my opinion. Just wait until Bungie finally admits it, and posts the statistics on gun usages ever since their last big weapon modification patch.
The truth will be revealed soon enough.
For those who don't play PVP, your opinion does not matter. Please stick to your fatebringer and don't ever use thorn in PVE.
You have to be a good PVP player to actually understand my opinion.
If you're a PVE player, of course you'll be angry at my post. It's simply because you lack the experience we PVP players have in the crucible. So you have no idea what I'm talking about.
EDIT: Looks like Bungie listened to me. Good debate fellas. I'll be taking the trophy home.

Let's just nerf everything and we'll just use sticks and stones. Maybe they introduce the sling that might be fun. Boom head shot David beats Goliath. Goliath - "that sling need to get nerf it took me out in one shot" David - "get gud scrub"

One of the better posts on it lol. The tracking is the biggest advantage. I usually start a map with a gun get killed by thorn, switch to thorn, end match with thorn.

A bunch of cry baby's oh I got thorned, final rounded, when will you guys give it a rest . I mean I know it take a little skill to kill them but it is not hard you guy got auto's nerf in to the ground thorn is used a lot in crucible but so easy to beat and yet you guys complain . Yet you would be satisfied until every gun in the game sucks so bad you better off just meleeing things to death.

I have thorn and TLW. For most situations and maps I'd rather have my last word. Thorn users aren't a prob if you have the ram helmet either.

Auto rifles would solve it. Maybe they were overused in pvp pre-patch, but at least the time to kill was .002 seconds

Now my skills are improving with VoC red hand ix .But you can't use those guns effectively because thorn demand it's distance I absolutely crushed by a substantial margin in inferno with VoC. Because radars and thorn are all they use. Bungie please make a Legendary only game mode of PvP. To see who really got skills

Won't they just make a game mode that excludes exotics. Then and only then we will see who can honestly best who. But thorn in my feet, grenade to my seat, is a loaf a bread cheap I did rumble last night, every one had all legendaries. The game was extensive, challenging fun adrenaline rushing and absolutely every guardian was close to winning. This my friend is a true gun fight.

Bungie is going to have to make a choice whether this game becomes a PvE focused game or they can go chasing that dream of making something that would replace Halo as a competitive multiplayer because if it is the latter then I jump of this shit right the -blam!- now. I understand the PvP players struggle I play the shit daily but can you guys not understand that you will NEVER be satisfied with the balance in this game?

1 ReplyI'm not a good crucible player, I'm an incredible one and you are wrong. In every online game ever there is always a set of guns better than the rest, in destiny its TLW or Thorn. TLW beats Thorn at close range every time anyway. Nerfing the thorn won't stop making good players good, it will just stop average and bad players getting slightly easier kills. If anything should be nerfed it should without a doubt be blink shotty combo. Im sick of seeing these rage threats from bad kids just understand how to play the game and it won't be s problem.

3 RepliesThe real solution to the thorn usage is to rebuff auto rifles. It will bring back much needed variety into the crucible, and I think coupling that with a slight range and fire rate nerf would make it ideal.

It was ok when not everyone was using it. Now, you have entire squads that just open fire with a barrage of Thorn and get kill assists. I've had to start leveling my thorn to stay competitive in trials.

Same goes for the last word man, they need to tweak weapons individually. Buffing/ nerfing across the board does nothing.

9 RepliesLets just hope they wont nerf it into oblivion... as you mentioned, i'm pretty sure it is inevitable at this point. If I can make a sugestion though, I think they should only reduce is fire rate, that change alone would make a big difference on is handling without breaking it. As it stand now it as the same fire rate as TLW but is just not full auto, anyone with a good trigger finger can shoot as fast with it.

3 RepliesI love thorn but agree this will eventually be nerfed. I bet the total use of that gun is upwards of 30% of all crucible kills with primary weapons. And this guy who posted may sound arrogant in the post but his PvP stats are ridiculous.
