Tbh kda is a much better indicator for all play style types, and is imo, a better reflection of overall skill.
I dont see how a kill shot is more important than the damage leading up to it in a team shot situation. If two teammates are shooting one person, they both cant get the kill, but neither damage tally is more/less important.
Also in many situations rushing or baiting is more important, when trying to draw out or advance a gameplay strategy. This happens many times in my fireteam where I push or draw fire and allow my teammates to get easier kills. The kda helps reflect team based skill in addition to individual skill.
Could my KD be higher? Sure if I played more cautiously, or didnt play the objective, or didnt care about winning. I guess different strokes for different folks. I dont care enough about muh k/d to play every game mode like clash and not have any team based strategy.

Considering you can inflate your KDA without having to win any gun fights I don’t see how it’s a indicator of skill at all.
-
Yes, KDA is a better stat, but the game shows KAD/efficiency/eliminations, which is a useless stat.
-
So if one person on your team just ran around putting one shot on every enemy they see and then running away, then get credit for that kill, even though they had no intention of actually finishing that kill at any point, they would be skilled?
-
Yes that is the entire point. If I rush in and move enemy out of cover, get a shot in, then my teammates sniped them and we both live, this is an excellent example of how kda reflects the skill we both displayed.
-
The skill? How about the times you empty your magazine at someone, missing nearly every shot, and they get away? Then a teammate you didn't even know existed takes them out on the other side of the map 5 seconds later, and you still get credit. Is that also "skill"?
-
It can be yes. What if I throw a great pulse, skip, or swarm grenade, damage an enemy cause them to jump or move out off cover or away from a control point, and a teammate one burst them. My teammate is more skilled? That makes no sense.
-
Well, technically, your teammate did make the more important move. You can damage an enemy all you want, but if you cannot remove them from the equation, you are not changing the game in any way. Your teammate finished the kill, and thus affected the outcome of the game more than you did. Period.
-
Well that is certainly one way of thinking. Fortunately my teammates and clan mates dont look at it this way. If we have a 2v1 and we push a guy in cover, idgaf who gets the final blow. We dont have ego issues. Imo this is stupid kd farming logic to think that not playing the objective, or trying to win, or camping heavy makes you a more skilled player. But again I'm not trying to change minds. Just making an opposing argument that not everyone thinks kd is the end all be all.
-
I didn't say it was the end all be all. But It's also not nothing. As in my previous example, your teammate just running around and popping one shot on enemies and running away is not forcing anyone out of cover, is not playing an objective, and is not taking control of any important map zones. They are in fact, KD farming. It happens in both systems, they are both flawed. However, a K/D and a Score, as they were in D1 are a much better indicator of how each teammate contributes.

Well I totally disagree. But it's ok, we can agree to disagree here.
