Thorn Exotic Bounty - how can it be changed
glad to see the thorn getting buffed, how about sorting out its bounty and removing the negative on death, or the void requirement? cause if i'm going to be forced into go into the crucible to get it, i dont want to spend any more time in there than is required, given thats not where i intend using it.
and yes, i'll keep bringing this up. as i believe there are enough people that actually give a shit.
edit: its interesting. everyone thats commented, has a K/D ratio over 1.4, and some are almost at 2. no wonder this stage is easy for you. you basically live in the crucible. good to see that your empathetic to those that dont want to enter the crucible. maybe the last mission should be made harder so you lot know what its like to do a stage thats all but impossible to those of us that dont like the crucible.
edit: at least 27% of voters feel some form of change is, would be, required. less people got the vex and PI nerfed to the point they were all but worthless for 2 months. less whinged and got raid quality gear for iron banner, when it should have only been sourced from VoG going by half the arguments in the thread. enough people want some form of change for a viable solution to be thought of. if you disagree with this, then you cannot be helped. and i for one will be fighting every change thats asked for by any and all crucible players, to make absolutely sure their whinges get left and things dont change.
EDIT: i ended up cheesing the shit out of it. kinda pointless, but at least i get the gun. would rather have done it properly, but at my skill level, its near impossible. as it is for many other players. and it still doesnt change the fact this stage needs addressing. you can say its fine until the end of days, but its not totally fair for everyone in the game, when compared to some of the other bounties.
EDIT: for those that are struggling with this stage, if you can, get 1 or 2 mates that are reasonable good within the crucible, fireteam up, join a rumble match (bigish maps means plenty of hiding spots), join a voice chat channel with just you 2, and tell him where you are. he'll run to you and you can farm him for kills. do this until you have the points.

4 RepliesI need to complete this as well as soon as I got to the crucible my progress came to a screeching halt and the bounty has been in my inventory for months now! In fact I got the pocket infinity bounty almost done and I picked it up a week ago!! Anyway, please explain how I can cheese through this? I am in dire need of exotics, do tell....maybe even possibly help??

It was tough to do the Void damage in Crucible with a hunter. I used a blue shotty and rocket launcher to complete this requirement.

2 RepliesWhat the hell is wrong with you guys. The thorn bounty can be done in less than 2 hours. I think they should change the 25 strikes bounty. Thats a ridicolous amount of wastes time.

I just finished it and had no troubles up to the heroic strike at the end which I was unable to solo. And this goes without saying that I'm REALLY not that good yet. I ended up doing the crucible part with a RARE void shotgun because I'm terrible with snipes. All I did was spam rumble and hope that I got a good CQB map for shotguns and shoulder charges. About 2 hours later, I was done. I would have given almost anything to have had an Atheon's Epilogue for that part, but RNGesus doesn't like me enough to get me raid-ready.

I just want an alternate for the PvP portion. I don't enjoy it but they keep trying (and sometimes successfully) to make me do it. Aside from that I am fine with challenging.

Someone pointed out to me earlier, on a different thread, that you can actually have a k/d ratio less than one and complete this bounty. You get 5 points for every void damage kill, and lose two points for every loss. That means 2 kills and 5 deaths cancel out. That's a 0.4 k/d ratio. So if you can keep your k/d ratio around 0.5 (that's HALF as many kills as deaths), then you can grind it out. Of course that 0.5 ratio requires a "sample size" of at least 1,000 kills. Here's another example. 150 kills = 750 points. That's 250 over the mark needed to complete the bounty. With 2 points lost per death, you could die 125 times and still complete the bounty. It doesn't seem quite as daunting when you look at it like that. HOWEVER, these examples assume that ALL kills are void damage kills. Here's the hard part. The only primary with void damage is AE, obtainable only through the raid and the blessing of RNG. Absent that, you'll have to rely on special and heavy weapons, for which ammo is limited. Here's where I think the unfairness is. Hunters don't have grenades or supers that do void damage. So they're at a disadvantage from the start. And I know from reading some of the comments that there are plenty of hunters who've successfully completed this bounty. Good for you. That doesn't mean that hunters aren't at a disadvantage.

The people that already did the thorn bounty would get a huge slap in the face if they changed it now i would be pissed off I struggled throughout it and I hate pvp

5 RepliesI'd just like to remove the death penalty. For the Super good advice you had to get 500 enemy kills with machine gun. If you died you did not lose kills. Sure if you used a rocket launcher but that's obvious And for pocket infinity you had to get 200 fusion kills during nightfall. Once again no death penalty. If they don't then folks that hate crucible (me) will just go in an cheese it with fusion rifles/ void sniper and waiting for heavy an it will irritate you "hardcore awesome KD MLG pro " players. Soooo let's just remove death penalty Bungie. I cannot "get gurd". Thanks.

Uhm...I don't have an average crucible K/D over 1, and I don't want to see it changed. I'm not that great on average in PvP, but I managed to put together enough decent matches to get this done. If I can do, then most people should be able to. And 27% is not enough people to warrant jack shit...you are the one who cannot be helped.

I feel as though its the only exotic bounty truly representative of what an exotic bounty should be. It incorporates every aspect of the game and at the end of the day no one is entitled to any weapon. If many feel as though they can't achieve the void kills in crucible part then that is unfortunate, but it's not the end of the world. Leave the bounty as it is.

The Thorn exotic bounty is fine, the way it is. It's a great prize, even more so with the last update. The bounty requires one to leave his or her comfort zone, mixes up the pvp and pve elements...really good bounty. If you can't do it, it's just one gun you can't have, imo.
