I personally think this purchase help Microsoft but damage Sonys current-gen and last-gens sales as the will probably stop receiving updates.

Well, you're constantly keeping a game up to date. Patches, and working on multiple ports, and its already up the hill enough. The basis has been established. I bet it'd feel like beating a dead horse. Now he can create other things. And he's already got the success and fame, why not walk out with more money than any of us will touch? I don't view it as a sellout as some may rage. Minecraft isn't going to change or adapt under its creator. Now under new authority it'll evolve. for better or worse. But I don't understand Microsofts move. Seems wrong to me. But I'm sure they have plans. Better or worse.. Isn't Notch usually buttmad about large companies? From his previous opinions on similar matters he sounds like a hypocrite or is selling out. Idk tho. Reeeeally wish that money went to developing games. That much money could help some serious world problems. But, this is gaming. Should have spent that on helping numerous great games or at least make a damn new series. Maybe fix your consoles hrrmmm?

Can't say I blame notch, 2.5 billion dollars is a stupidly crazy amount of money; especially for a game like minecraft.

Well Microsoft said they will keep running on all platforms but I can see Xbox getting updates first

Edited by Battlefielder: 9/15/2014 4:33:26 PMMarkus Persson selling Mojang is about as much of a no-brainer as a no-brainer can get. Great for him! For Microsoft, it is a little bit more of a head-scratcher. There is a theory that Natella wants to transform all of Microsoft's gaming assets into software and cloud-centric services, including the Xbox Division. He is fairly obsessed with mobile. I do not know what that means for the.console business.

He said he wants to basically move on and do more than sustain a massive money making machine which is fair enough . I guess the reasoning here is that Minecraft was a one hit wonder and anything he makes after this wont ever be big as Minecraft . I mean I doubt he ever intended it to get super big . So he sells Mojang to MS knowing they cant out do Minecraft takes his share and leaves . I would have done the same . In terms of "its not about the money" , he was probably loaded anyway so it wont make too much of a difference really , will it ? The only thing that annoys me is that he was dissapointed at Oculus for being bought out by FB and know he sells his mney maker to MS . bit hypocritical ?
