Halo 4: Alternative Ending & Soundtrack!

1 ReplyThe original halo 4 ending really dissapointed me, although, i think that, because of the events of the earlier halo's, the halo 4 ending couldn't have finished any better or worse. Everything that happened in the halo series added up to these last few scenes. If cortanna didn't ''die'' there would be no other way for the halo series to end.

1 ReplyI think it was nice, but only because it was made by a fan. If this were the ending, plot holes would have been left wide open: what happened to Chief, what happened to the Infinity and its crew, what happened to Earth (it was hit by the Composer), how would Halo 5-6 be possible if Chief had apparently died, etc. Also, even though I love Solace, I very much prefer the original track, Green and Blue, for this scene because it's so much more mellow and sorrowful than Solace (also, the cellist has [i]spectacular[/i] phrasing). I didn't really like the flashbacks in the end. In my view, flashbacks could happen days after the scene, when John would long for Cortana, but never before (much less [i]immediately[/i]) because after her final words I think Chief went into a state of complete mental numbness (not unlike what I felt). He's a Spartan, so that didn't last very long, but he still had a very slow, very unresponsive reaction to THE UNIVERSE FALLING APART around him (or the ship, whatever). Reliving those memories of Chief and Cortana right then felt poorly paced and wrong because it broke the numbness and the breathlessness resulting from Cortana's... departure. Cool beans!

I prefer the original, this one's too dramatic, especially at the end with the flashbacks and the music. I think it's often better to keep it simple. Still, a good effort, not bad at all.

1 ReplyIt was good but Solace is a little too 'strong' and 'heavy' for this scene, if that makes sense. I don't remember the original so I'm not comparing the two. I think it needs a more subtle orchestration.

1 ReplyCool trailer. I would have been irritated had 343 used footage from the original trilogy in the ending though. It's just kind of silly to add footage from a game that you had no part in creating.
