Is bungie going out of business? Are any of the promised changes going to happen now? What's going on behind the scenes?

Edited by SnakeEyes734: 11/2/2023 11:12:40 PMNo they just have to deliver a quality product. Funny how they mentioned trust...."first you get players trust, then increase that players retention, then you get all the revenue". They are LITERALLY doing the same song and dance again!

1 ReplyDoing an absolute piss-poor job with Destiny didn't pay off? Shocking.

15 RepliesEdited by Mark, Scholar of Stars: 11/1/2023 2:55:41 PMEdit: I just found that article on Bloomberg: Sony’s Bungie Game Unit Cut 8% of Staff After ‘Destiny’ Play Wilted 2. Edit: About buying The Final Shape. I'm not the one telling strangers what to do with their money. I never did that - like I never pre-ordered. I'm seeing complaints about Bungie's management rising and I can tell you it's been years like that. I said that a week ago:
What is the single defining thing that made you say I’m done after the conclusion of the light and dark saga?
Bungie. Their decisions, agenda and behaviour. Enough has been said (already) about them, a lot rightly. Generally I'm curious, I play video games since several decades, that's one of my hobbies but purchasing Marathon or Matter is out of the question. I'm not angry, it's simply enough based on my experience with them. I wish them luck! I think they need it... No offense. Today, the only reason what keeps me playing are the people I meet in this game. I just had a very positive experience, again. And that's the only reason for me to continue. Original: I personally don't (need another State of the Game). I can inform myself independent. The answers are everywhere, just use an engine like Google. Sony already started weeks ago layoffs at his companies and now they reached Bungie. The Final Shape has been delayed, probably because of the reorganization, for 3 months, which isn't also the first delay (see The Witch Queen). The company is there, they're working on several projects and producing content. It's just that for those less it's more to do. That's sad. Blackburn looked battered in his latest video, I hope he's good - I don't want someone to be ruin his health because of a video game. He and the other developers are also not an attraction of mockery, those are human beings, no one should forget that! One more thing, generally, Eververse (Silver) is optional, you don't need it, if you want it is another story but that's your exclusive problem. I will buy T. F. S. Even if the game had its ups and downs, it entertained me over the years and I'm grateful for that.

3 RepliesI’m having fun with Mario Wonder recently. I forgot how fun the Switch can be!

13 RepliesIf bungo dies intellectual property rights for the entire destiny universe should be sold to FROMSoftware so they can produce DestinySouls Hardcore
-
Na. I'm willing to bet that when they made the previous S.O.T.G they knew about layoffs. They were just trying to bump pre-order numbers as much as possible. The writing has been on thr wall for several years now.
-
2 RepliesThere probably isn’t much of a team left to do it though. They’ll have to use AI to do a state of the game soon
-
16 RepliesWhat's going on is Sony walked in on Bungie and found out they aren't taking care of Destiny

3 RepliesBungie doing poorly? Laying off employees? Delaying releases? Ohh well, can't say I am supersized as they have miss managed lots of things for way too long. Crappy story and not enough of it for the last few seasons. Seasonal modes that are just the same copy and past horde modes, going on like 3 years running. Too much woke garbage, this at Bunie, that at bungie, we will not have veterans at bungie... All takes employee time to organize, manage and communicate to like minded people (read, their people had better things to do and were wasting time on this crap) Too much catering to the hardcore elite players driving the average player away. The base game is not fun anymore, neptune is a hot mess and bad guys are too much a bullet sponge from red bars up. Too much dependence on your armor set, no gear no play well. Too much parkour, jumping and platforming for many players in what is supposed to be a basic strike. Speaking of strikes, they basically stopped making them and are putting everything in the vanguard playlist. Reworking strikes to make them line up with the harder is the only way to go mentality. Bungie lost it's way focusing on the wrong reasons and doing the wrong things. It is a game and should before all be fun to play, enjoyable and relaxing. If it makes you sweat or get frustrated then you will not play the game. I only bought this season because my friends bought it and claimed it was all that and a bag of chips, now they are all playing something different except 1 of them. I hate it for those that got laid off, but I am not surprised.

11 RepliesY'all, it's probably because things have slowed down after the pandemic and not as many people sit at home all day playing video games. Or, it could be that people are just plain tired of live service gaming. I know I am. It could be that enough people simply lost interest in D2 and it isn't the blockbuster it used to be. It COULD be a combination of any or all of the above. It could be none of those.

3 RepliesI bet no one’s wearing pajamas to work today at Bungie.
-
1 ReplyLol, Bungo thought everyone would keep on buying Destiny just to watch saltagreppo throw hammers on twitch.
-
Hopefully they go out of business entirely and sell the ip to a competent studio
-
Bungie's reacting to a decrease in revenues caused by that increase in difficulty and elitism not working out how they thought it would.
-
2 RepliesNah. Only removing the ceo would remedy the good faith at this point. I have 0 faith in this company now with them in charge. I'm sad I'm outside my ability to refund FS. I got bamboozled. My fault for pre-ordering. I'm impatient.

6 RepliesEdited by Mr Jim Lahey: 10/31/2023 1:03:05 PMThey promised sony buying them “wouldn’t result in layoffs, restructuring” Sony over paid for bungie so Xbox wouldn’t buy them. Sony then increase the price of season passes Then bungie once again gets caught in a lie and downsize. They voted for the man they wanted to lead this country, and complain about the price..it’s so sad to watch bungie act woke, but act no different than scummy corporations.
-
2 RepliesI’ll put money on it - Final shape will not be released, Bungie will be re-structured, and Final Shape will become Destiny 3. A full price game to grab even more cash.
-
Edited by Ashermere’s Assistant: 10/31/2023 5:14:28 PMGood. Maybe this will be the proverbial fire under their @ss to do better. Layoffs happen for reasons & Sony wasn’t happy with what they saw.

1 ReplyEat taco bell that sat out in the sun over the weekend. Wait a few hours. The state of your toilet will be the state of the game.
Is bungie going out of business? Are any of the promised changes going to happen now? What's going on behind the scenes?
Behind the scenes Bungie is firing people for “underperforming” and it seems Final Shape may be the end from the “feel” of this ign article. https://ign.com/articles/pete-parsons-tells-employees-bungie-kept-the-right-people-to-work-on-destiny-2

2 RepliesI'm a little shocked so many were surprised by this. They've been steering the game into an iceberg for the last 2 years and now there are consequences for it. They probably also over hired during Covid and now have too many mouths to feed. Sorry, but I just find it funny that so many here, on twitter, and especially the content creators spent the last 2 years bashing how bad the community facing people at Bungie are/were and are now crying for them that they were held accountable for their poor performance.
-
1 ReplyU know what else? I wonder if the way they moderate the forums is a reflection of their performance like that individual that locked the thread in another topic. It silences people and makes them not want to buy anything from Bungie
-
1 ReplyThe state of the game. It's shite. It's been shite for ages. It will remain shite until it dies. tl/dr - Shite

Agreed

Let's all be real here: the seasonal model and recent expansions haven't done very much good for destiny in terms of driving interest. Beyond light was hot trash and implemented the WORST change they've ever made (sun setting). Witch queen was good but being good doesn't buy back good will when you know they literally do this -blam!- as a trend. Then lightfall was awful because it had a gibberish story that only told the stuff that mattered through the extra seasonal content you had to pay for LATER and did nothing to explain your powers at all. Final shape looked like crap too. I watched it and felt no excitement at all because we all know what's gonna happen next year even IF it miraculously ended up good. Legit the sandbox carries every single expansion at this point.

Nope! Despite all the news the game is going nowhere...
