Almost too hard to play

I am one of those players -blam!- enjoyed Destiny 2. I was very close to addicted. You can't enjoy a game much more than that. I'm not a good player and never claimed to be. But, I could play well enough to advance and get LOTS of enjoyment out of doing so. Now Destiny 2 has been advanced in a way that only the best can really enjoy it and they tell people like me I should just find a different game. I spent so much money for this game and some additions so my enjoyment could be even greater. I should have waited. I don't know what to suggest to the dev team. Destiny 2 is going to end up loosing a lot of middle and lower scale players I'm afraid. I doubt the income from only the "best" tier will support Bungie. I'm done with my rant now and need to ask a question. I will never finish the last part of Lightfall if I don't get to practice using strand. I thought I was the worst at jumping (and I am terrible) but using strand is for me almost impossible. And, I use it so rarely I forget the commands. I need a place I can go and practice it all. Getting around and all the other commands available. I need to do this soon. If it isn't possible to get this practice then like it or not (and I don't) I will have to give up all hope of finishing it. It is so hard it is almost impossible to win anyway but if you can't use the strand correctly you might as well just stop trying. Any help/pointers to answer my question will be GREATLY appreciated.

Don’t use double primary load outs. You have one on your Titan. Use a special weapon instead of second primary. Many exotics have intrinsic champion stun. All sub classes do as well. Research builds on YouTube for your main. Learn to use the proper mods on your armor and your artifact. Using a proper load out and build is a game changer and can make things much easier. You can chase exotics and high stat armor to make the build top tier. Level up to 1815. You’re currently under leveled which can make certain things more difficult than they need to be. YouTube walkthroughs for harder content. Knowing what to expect and what to do is half the battle. Learn how to properly engage all champions. There’s a method of how to handle each type and it makes harder content much easier. Start with this stuff and you’ll be playing harder content and getting better.

  • Load a private match on a big pvp level (discjunction ) and start flying around don’t try and practice where you have adds shooting at you yet. Just go somewhere where all your worried about is figuring out your bindings and working on movement…and look up some videos on builds and proper guns…help yourself by helping yourself

  • This isn’t a problem with your skill or the games difficulty. It’s a problem with your power level. Nearly everything that isn’t legacy content(1600) is 1770 power, minimum. You’re barely above the recommended level of the easiest content to begin with so to say that the game is too hard while playing essentially underleveled is a bit unfair. And I personally would kick that double primary loadout, find some special weapons you like and roll with them instead. There’s no need in having two primary weapons unless absolutely necessary for champs. I hope you’ll give this stuff a shot, at least the leveling. I’d shoot for 1800 as a base.

    • The game is not unbeatable but as a Destiny veteran myself, I feel your pain. I’ve always been pretty good at this game and have done nearly everything worth doing but this season has just sucked all of the fun out of the game for me. People will tell you that you suck or to “git gud” but those toxic people do not represent the majority. Many of us know what you mean. It’s not about who’s good or not. It’s about whether or not this game is even fun anymore and, IMO, it’s not.

    • On normal it's not so bad, kill the tormentors before the 2nd phase, and it'll be a lot easier....you don't need to swing around the ring like donkey king lol. Just grapple melee him, he dies in like 5 hits.

    • First of all, I'm the worst player in Destiny. Always have been, always will be. That being said, after many tries I got it done. Didn't use any cheeses, didn't even youtube a how-to video. Either of those options reduce the accompishment in my head. I've been frustrated like you, and some attempts that frustration was handicapping me. Just relax, fail, realax some more, fail again, rinse and repeat. You will beat this legit, and it will mean something. Take some time, run your weeklies, do some bounties and try again. You got this, Guardian.

          • First off if you are talking about the calus fight then strand is optional. You can use any build you like and ignore the strand. Second, this expansions raid is one of the easiest ever (it’s still hella fun though!) and the whole dlc actually felt rather aimed at catching up and engaging the casual base before the final shape. I see a lot of people complaining about PvE being too difficult. Honestly I don’t think that’s true at all I just think they aren’t used to enemies actually being a threat to them and therefore requiring a solid build for endgame (and now closer to mid game) content. I personally have felt that my builds matter now and I’m not fighting other players for kills anymore. It’s a very good feeling. My final advice is look up some good builds and use them to help you get the hang of crafting and operating a proper build. I think you’ll see how much more fun playlist activities are when your build gets up and running.

              • The cheese "under the stairs" spot was still available as of last week. I used Esoterickk's video as a guide for it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JWO8Ynv9zM Solo'd it with my Titan, Warlock and Hunter this way on Legendary mode. It does depend on Osteo Striga SMG, but maybe something else works too. With the above cheese, make sure that once you get Callus's health bar near zero for the first phase, move forward towards him under the platform. When they put up that stupid bubble for the second phase, you need to be forwards, or it trap you outside it and will teleport you onto Calus's platform in the middle. I didn't kill the Tormentors the first time with my Warlock and then they killed me before Bungle even finished teleporting me in. The second time I made sure I killed the tormentors and ahole Scions, then moved forward until the bubble forms and then finished off Calus. For me, the part that I raged quit the most was the Vex Virtual Training ground thing where you run around in a sealed chamber with everything shooting you, with that red barrier sweeping behind you and that useless Osisris whining at you the whole time. Beyond fornicating annoying.

              • A) the dev team doest read these forums, this is a 3rd party website to them. B) what content specifically are you complaining about? C) does that content have a slider for difficulty that you can turn down to negate your rant entirely?

                  • use something other than stasis, Void is good for hunter and titan. your titan doesn't need 117 resilience, you dont get bonus after 100 make sure your fragments, aspects and mods all work well together. don't use double primaries. void heavy machine guns are great right now.

                    • If by the last part of it you mean the Calas boss fight then you need to watch the cheese video. You go under the walkway and shoot from there so you never have to use Strand. You can practice Strand anywhere; on The Moon or Nessus or the EDZ. Pick a lost sector that you like and use strand as much as possible to see how it affects enemies.

PSA: you don’t HAVE to use strand against Calus if you don’t want to. But I’m general, if you’re not enjoying the game or you think it’s too hard, there’s two main things that will help you: 1. Learn to make builds. It’s much simpler now than it used to be. Dying too much? Use resists and max resilience, then slowly take stuff off until you’re still comfortable, but not as invested into survivability. Not enough ability uptime? Look at exotics, subclass fragments, and mods that can let you use them more often. 2. Learn enemy mechanics and spawn triggers. Learn how champions stun and how they regen, timing of the mechanics, approximately when to prepare to stun, etc. as well as what causes which enemies to spawn when and where. ie getting a boss down to 80% health spawns 6 harpies on its left and right, 75% of Calus’s health spawns a Tormentor, or completing a mechanic spawns two champions. Then you can spawn trap or make sure you’re prepared for these enemies to spawn and not get caught with your pants down. For the first time in a long time I’ve seen a post that isn’t just straight up giving up and is instead asking for advice. Try these things. I hope they help.

                      • Based on the other comments I've read here, I'll assume this is particularly about phase 2 of the Calus fight. Most importantly, you don't have to use Strand if you don't want to. If you're more comfortable playing on another subclass, then by all means do that. Strand has the obvious benefit of high ability regen during the fight, but it's not worth using if using it gets you killed. Unfortunately, the only way to practice Strand is to redo other Campaign missions or use the occasional node things in Patrol that let you use it. As you don't get full access to the subclass until after the Campaign, you can't test it in other situations or properly buildcraft. The best thing I can think of would be to do the Headlong Time Trial, as it makes you use Strand and its whole purpose is to be a training session.
