So I’m a slightly above average PVP player. I snipe for all 3s activities I.e. trials, elim, comp. And for a few years I’ve been holding a high 70s to low 80s head shot percentage. If I am hard scoping as opposed to sliding I make contact about 80 percent of the time. However over the last 2 months I have seen a huge dip in my ability to hit shots. And before you pint to flinch I’m talking about opportunities where I take the first shot. Does anyone know if the cone forgiveness got needed or anything else that would cause a drastic decrease in using it effectively. Any info would be appreciated. Thx.

I think they were just such a massive crutch for so long specially on controller now they are nerfed people finding they were carried by the gun somewhat

1 ReplyWell the slide nerf and flinch definitely made it so standing and hard scoping rewards you more… or so I hear. Personally some nights I can’t miss others I’m an anchor 😂 feels hella random

1 ReplyIf you have a strong connection right now, you are going to be punished a lot. I dropped from Platinum 3 to Gold 1 in 1 day as it was a combination of the absolutely insanity of lag with this low population, and me testing weird builds and weapon combos for next season. Just ignore your stats for now. It's a mess out there. Hopefully people come back for the new season and it becomes reasonable again.

1 ReplySnipers take a ton more flinch, slide got nerfed, you cant even run a solar warlock build to be in the air because AE got nerfed. Why use a sniper when forerunner exist? Its not that snipers are just weak, its that everything that helped use snipers including snipers themselves has gotten nerfed to the point you cant reliably use them.

I have noticed they register hits a lot less generously, even in PvE. It feels like you have to be hardscoping, sometimes it seems the reticle needs to be directly in the middle of the enemy's head or you will miss or hit a body
-
I don't mean to boast or brag but I do believe I'm a top 100 sniper in this game. And yes, I do believe that snipers are just not consistent anymore. Ghost bullets, shots to the head that are obvious are registering as bodies ect... It's almost like bungie gave snipers the same inconsistent treatment that shotties got; and this is not talking about the atrocious flinch

2 RepliesPeer to peer met with the new stability requirements has made it more difficult. Impossible no. But you better damn well get that first shot in or you're toast
-
1 ReplyThe connection issues alone are enough to make you miss shots that you thought you'd hit. It gets worse every season.
-
1 ReplyUnless you have a god roll trials sniper or suros sniper you wont hit anything through flinch. That and with connections as bad as they are right now its not a viable weapon type in PvP. In PvE they haven't been good since the season of arrivals all the way back in shadowkeep. Just use one of the exotic Linears, they are like snipers but good.

2 RepliesNah man, it's you. The entire premise of the topic tells you that. You can't simply accept that you miss and are a human capable of error. Instead it must be some hidden value in the game. I bet you raged every time you missed too Typical Destiny player that plays a relatively easy game, thinks they're amazing for completing a raid, gets mad and blames external factors for their ineptitude when it occurs, lauds themselves when things go well. Just be honest with yourself bro.

1 ReplySniping is about the same but then again it also depends on your ability plus the sniper you're using. For me my top snipers are eye of sol and cloudstrike and occasionally beloved.
-
2 RepliesIt's hard to miss with the mechabre however I would say it maybe less your skill and more to do with p2p desync. Sometimes I can't hit shots at all sometimes 8 can't - its just the day to day problems of an average player (ie me). Wonder if your hit percentage went down when cross play was introduced

Player numbers are dropping so due to the shite that is peer to peer the games much laggier than it was 12 months ago to the point I only jump in for Iron Banners now. New season might improve things for a few weeks but the state of pvp has put many players off so they have left.

Edited by Kiro - 13: 12/6/2022 4:57:04 AMIf you play roller yes because you are not longer rewarded for being flinched. Old system made it so if your aim was off being flinched would knock the reticle back onto the head. Also being shot twice if your reticle was indeed on your targets head would reward you with a head shot as well. These are well documented issues with reticle friction which is why a change was made to increased flinch values and slow reticle reset time. Additionally opening shot was nerf'd.

mid fight yes and thank god, not mid fight is the same

Must agree with this feeling. I def feel the flinch nerf but shots seem to just not reg a lot now. Think it’s the falling player base with this crap p2p system though ..
