(Slight Spoilers, but not really): I have just realized something about Cloudstriders

As far as we know, Cloudstriders have sacrificed their lifespan in order to augment themselves with cybernetics that empower them greatly. They have sacrificed so much to protect their city, they have been devoted to their city, they have shown bravery through such sacrifices. Sound familiar? Those are the requirements (according to the Speaker during Red War, which have been more or less contradicted later) to become a guardian! So what if later after Light Fall, we see Cloudstrider Guardians? That would be crazy! Think of how powerful they would be, with their augmentations on top of having the light! Could this also be a potential race we can create guardians from apart from Human, Awoken, and Exo? Looking forward to your thoughts, let's discuss!

  • I believe if one was worthy enough to gain the light or darkness for that matter. They could most likely become one of the most powerful Paracausal wielding beings in the universe. Due to the fact that they’re already genetically enhanced to a certain extent. We have yet to see their overall potential and performance combat wise, and even without the light, from the video shown, they seemed to be close to par with a Titan. Taking down an entire pyramid ship with one fell swoop. I for one am very intrigued and interested to see the story behind the cloudstriders and the new destination. I also want to know how this utopia managed to stay off the grid from the darkness for so long, even from the light for that matter. Maybe for as technologically advanced the city may be. They must have used some sort of jammer technology that was powerful enough to envelope the entire city in what would simply be called an invisible shield, that kept them hidden away from any material life form/force. Whether they were good or bad, and maybe something or someone finally found a way to discover this city. Really no one knows until light fall hits. And I hope Bungie drops some lore on these Cloud strider guys before “light fall” debuts, just to give us some insight.

  • I just really want the raid to have cloudstrider themed armor and weapons

  • I honestly want to see more about the Darkness and The Witness's followers. They seem far more interesting to me tbh, but I also would love to see more about what Golden Age (and post-Golden Age by now) technology looks like following The Collapse since this city is supposed to be untouched by it.

  • I’m calling it now. Cloudstriders are going to play a VERY minor role. We’ll get to see them in one or two cutscenes, and have one as a vendor, with three or four voice lines. We will get a little bit of lore, but we won’t see them much. They’re hyping them up the same way they hyped up The Exo Strangers fish. “You’ll have to play Beyond Light to learn about that”. It’ll be the same thing with cloudstriders.

    • There was that lore bit where Elsie found puoka and a sgost out by Neptune and the ghost said it heard 'the call'.. so I would not be surprized of a cloudstrider or two end up getting resurrected as lightbearers later on.

After final shape, it will be the end of destiny 2 light dark saga. We will have destiny still but it's gonna be about the cloud striders. They will be the new "guardians". We will have a new saga.

      • What did guardians sacrifice? Their memories that don’t matter at all?

      • The Traveler is so -blam!- that I don't understand how its thought process works or why it does anything. One of the massive failings of the series which I hope Bungie clear up before presumably the Traveler and Pyramid ships are gone after New Shape.

        • Am I the only person who is kind of completely uninterested in cloud striders? I'm hoping there's more depth to them come lightfall

          • Maybe the Tormentors are the cloudstriders that became corrupted.

          • I don't think that's possible. Cloudstriders are enhanced by technology that's greater than siva, which the light has a problem with. I remember a certain lore card in D1 in which a ghost got infected by siva. The ghost got enhanced, but the light burned siva away before it could do any further damage.

            • Well they should be human, so no reason they shouldn’t be in the running. Cybernetics doesn’t change your species. The criteria hasn’t been contradicted. How do you think Savathun got the Light? That said, would they accept the Light if it means losing their memories? Doubtful. As they clearly prize loyalty to themselves over humanity as a whole.
